Been on vacation and as soon as I got back I laid on the couch and looked for your video. I’m so lucky to see you sewing one of the patterns I have. Now I’m 70 and I’m making this dress and wearing it. I don’t care that I’m showing some skin. If you don’t like don’t look. As to flappy arms my great niece (she’s ten) says to me that I’m going to need those wings when I get to heaven. I like her point of view! 🤣
That is a fun dress, and I love it! We must get over our shyness of a bit of skin exposure, but do wear some sunscreen. We don't want sunburn. Love your dress!🥰
Love that Marie Your dress form did not do it the justice that your own body did. I think you could wear that out but I know we all have our own level of comfort. Thank you for teaching me I love your channel.
I whooped when you said you'd make the version with the cut out at the front! Good on you, Marie! Fabulous fabric, fabulous dress, fabulous woman!👌 Enjoy your comfy, gorgeous, strappy dress 👗 😊
It's so pretty! Just sew an invisible (clear plastic) snap along an inner edge of the ties to close them across the middle, or not lol. I love how you make the patterns your own. "'I'm not doing that" is becoming my mantra"!!
Oh only just got to watch this. SO LOVELY! As ever, your tutorial was clear and informative. Your choice of fabric was spot-on. And you look gorgeous in the try-on at the end. Thank you, always a joy to watch. Australian viewer here.
Fabulous Marie. Enjoy wearing your beautiful dress and to hang with the UPS guy. Just smile at him and that’s what he’ll see is your lovely face Thanks for sharing. 🙋🏼🏴
I have not understood your aversion to showing your upper arms and still don’t understand your concerns. Everyone has something they don’t like about themselves and you notice it where others don’t. Glad you made it. Now enjoy wearing it!
Beautiful dress n it looks lovely... I myself would be just as pale... lol... n the opening would be a no go... right away I thought rulo loops n lacing... then... your pocket lace sewnin a triangle insert... buttoned from the inside to help secure the placket top... please enjoy your dress n you are beautiful in it...
I loved your dress! It's so summery and breezy. The dress was nicely draped over your body and it showed off your figure quite nicely. As always, your make was as beautiful as you are.
I love the purple fabric. It is a nice color for you. I agree a sweet sun dress should not be out of question for a mature women. The pattern is wonderful
I saw this today. I love your positive attitude and grace. I just retired on 5/24 and was for months looking forward to sewing and volunteering at church. Great, I found your page.
I like your new dress. You can easily construct and sew a removable piece of fabric and place it in the area below your chest to block the exposure, using velcro or snaps. It is a pretty dress and you will increase your vitamin d. It looks nice on you and you will Tan nicely 😊. Good for you. I live on the west coast a few miles from the beach and it's in the 60's during the day. Not sun dress weather for me
I think it is the perfect gardening dress! (You had me at pockets) 😂 The opening in the front will definitely give you some ventilation and since you don’t wear a bra with it… well that is one less sweaty bra to wash!
very cute! I love everything about it, and you look lovely! Don't forget sunscreen, and hey who knows the UPS driver might just be delighted to visit you :)
The fabric and dress are beautiful. I am 72, so I think it would be fun to make the other view and can wear a t-shirt underneath when I’m not at home. Loved seeing your video today.
Thank you Marie for sewing this on your channel. I an inspired to wear more sundresses and add some to my wardrobe. LOVE THAT FABRIC!!! I love paisleys and purple. Have an awesome day.
Brava! Being of a similar age and build, I understand the shyness... but I decided (once I retired) I no longer cared when around the house. I have several lightweight sweaters and camp shirts that I throw on over sundresses if I feel like I need a little more coverage. :)
This is a really cute sundress. I don't know if I could ever have worn it and at 74 I know I couldn't now! I wonder if the two bodices could be combined to get a smaller peek-a-boo and still keep the bow and gathers at the bust. Hmmmm. I'm thinking of my older granddaughters, though, not myself!
I love this dress. I would have to wear with a thin strap tank to feel comfortable, as I would fall out of it otherwise. I made the other view of this dress and love it.
Love it. You look comfortable and lovely in it. I love watching how you make your garments and get so much out of your videos. Thank you for your bravery.
What a cute dress...i have to admit, you TOTALLY surprised me with that view you choose... When you first showed the pattern, I expected you to choose the full coverage top. I'm proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zone & like you said... For around the house/yard, it'll be comfy & will help you get a little Vitamin D exposure. (LOL 😆)!!! Glad to have you back & that You're feeling better!
It’s a beautiful dress, perfect for around the homestead. I’d wear it but probably not with the tummy peekaboo. Your channel is wonderful Marie and so much fun to watch. Thank you
I'm the same as you love it but wouldn't wear out to much skin for me love it though I'm thinking of making one thank you for all the great info your great I'm binge watching you lol
I love the fabric of this one! Soooo pretty & looks cool enough for hot weather wear. Also, probably not as bad to show the garden dirt as a light colored one would be. I second the slathering on of sunscreen, especially on that front central opening as that’s a really bad place for sunburn-never mind how I know.🤦 If you added a little bit of a cotton lace panel there you’d probably be safer, but the sports bra idea is a good enough solution for around the farm, especially in case someone (UPS or others) show up unexpectedly. 🤣 Thanks for sharing your lovely make🎉
I like the sun dress but as you get older those peekaboo don’t work for older woman’s. I am glad you made that pattern. I did not realize how big the peekaboo hole was. I don’t think I would be making that view. I would be put my hands over that big gap all day long my confidence would be shot to glory😂😂😂
You look perfectly cute in that dress. I understand the side boob concern, but you have a flat tummy and your arms have nothing wrong with them, so show them off and be happy about it. It will feel wonderful to wear that dress on a hot day in the summer.
That’s a fantastic dress! It’s going to be a great season to wear it as the weather warms up. Definitely lather on the sunscreen too. I’m curious about how much fabric it took and what yardage do you buy for dresses on average? ❤
Thanks, In general I try to get at least 3 yards, up to 5 depending on price and what is on the bolt. I don't usually know exactly what I will be doing with it until later so that gives me a workable range.
That dress is nice but I would take the top off and make a plain bodice with cap sleeves maybe. You did a great job it’s just not your style. You were uncomfortable wearing it, if I’m wrong sorry.
I hope this becomes the favorite of dresses from your husbands aspect! I added in two spots right below the tie elastic string and small buttons on mine and that helped me to feel better when bending over or turning as it pulls the fabric closer to my skin right below the breasts. If I could find a matching bikini top to wear as a bralette I will wear that under it if I go out to the beach or someplace like Adventure Island. Enjoy the summer breezes this year! It looks great on you!
I don’t think the chooks are going to care about your side boob 🥚 🥚 As long as you don’t turn too fast you should be ok 🫣 That fabric is gorgeous! It turned out really lovely. The line art lied a bit, it looked more closed up than the end result was. Still lovely though!
Well - it's official - there's nothing the least bit unpleasant or unsatisfactory about your arms or your midriff!! We really are much too critical of ourselves, I think - your skin looks great. I can understand the self-consciousness about the possible 'unplanned wardrobe malfunction' with a side view - but that's just because I'm a bit shy. :-) If you're self-conscious with just wearing it as it is perhaps you could get around it by wearing a bright purple bra and letting the straps show - or even cover the straps with the same fabric - then it would just look like it's part of the dress design? Great dress for popping over a bathing suit too...
Just curious. Ive made several dresses..i haven't lined any of them...ive noticed that you line most of yours...my question is Why? Am i not doing something that im missing?
I line them if I feel like I need to for modest sake, or if the fabric is not comfortable against my skin, but honestly it is up to you. Sew however makes you happy. And really, most of my dresses are not lined.

The dress looks great. Thanks for all the well explained sewing information. Christine

That dress will be so nice to have all summer! Beautiful. The more you wear it the better you will feel in it. Awesome!

Beautiful dress and looks marvelous on you!

Fun, fun. The horses will love it! haha
😆
I really love the dress and you wear it well. Have a nice sunny day , wear sunscreen, and enjoy!
If anyone is hating on a lovely woman’s arms, it says more about them than you! You do you! Life is short- do what makes you happy!
Beautiful fabric! Its a nice cool summer dress to do a bit of gardening in ....and get a nice sun tan while you at it. 😅
The dress AND you look fantastic.
Absolutely adorable! Don't forget your sunscreen to protect your beautiful skin.
Your commentary always makes me laugh! You are so talented and I learn so much.! Love the fabric!
Fabulous Marie. Enjoy wearing your beautiful dress and to hang with the UPS guy. Just smile at him and that’s what he’ll see is your lovely face Thanks for sharing. 🙋🏼🏴

I think it’s fantastic with or without the ties tucked in, love it
I loved your dress! It's so summery and breezy. The dress was nicely draped over your body and it showed off your figure quite nicely. As always, your make was as beautiful as you are.
Love the fabric!!
It’s a beautiful dress. It looks great on you.
I love love love the dress! You look adorable
Love it. I like the place of the straps. Add a piece in the front. The fabric is great too. X
Love the sundress
Love the dress
But like you, i'd only wear it on my farm!!!
You go for it Marie. What does it matter of you are in your own garden. Hope you are feeling well. Take care.
I love the purple fabric. It is a nice color for you. I agree a sweet sun dress should not be out of question for a mature women. The pattern is wonderful

Beautiful and very well made, as usual. Please enjoy it. It’s a joy watching you sew, using your various machines and learning tips from you.
I think it is the perfect gardening dress! (You had me at pockets) 😂 The opening in the front will definitely give you some ventilation and since you don’t wear a bra with it… well that is one less sweaty bra to wash!
We do despise the cursed sweaty bra! :)
You look faaab! Go girl x
Very nice! Enjoy the sun! ❤
very cute! I love everything about it, and you look lovely! Don't forget sunscreen, and hey who knows the UPS driver might just be delighted to visit you :)
looking real good great job sweetie
For all of us “closer to 60 than 50” people out there…have the “rules” ever applied? I say no. Wear what you want. 🌈🌈🦋🦋
Not so bad, at all! Well done.
I am sure you shall .look perfectly beautiful in your dress. There is no reason why you shouldn't! X x x
You look fantastic in it
It turned out beautiful! ❤ it looks so good on you 😁

nothing wrong with your body dear lady, you are beautiful, sunscreen and enjoy.
I think exactly the same. Hear, hear!
So pretty!
I have this pattern in my stash &❤ it
Soo pretty! 😊
Cute dress! Looks great on you.
It is a flattering style and fits you well! You could also wear it like a jumper over a fitted tank top or T shirt
It's great!!!
I like the sun dress but as you get older those peekaboo don’t work for older woman’s. I am glad you made that pattern. I did not realize how big the peekaboo hole was. Very pretty dress! You look great!!
Love it and enjoy your summer
I love that dress!😊
It looked good on you, im a lady of 61 and im the same I never show skin.
How wonderfully inappropriate! 🌺💓😃
0:10 Being stalked by a rooster is NOT a good feeling lol. P.S. love the fabric, and it's such a pretty dress!

Very cute and fun❤
The dress came out very nice, but you can add another set of ties for the opening if you like.
What gorgeous fabric? Where do YOU shop for fabric?
Mostly the Joann clearance aisle :)
You look fab. I was toying with idea so going qh3ad
Remembering how Hot it was last summer, I need a sundress.
Good for you. You look fantastic, but I can see why you feel overexposed lol. Your arms are fine!
That’s a fantastic dress! It’s going to be a great season to wear it as the weather warms up. Definitely lather on the sunscreen too. I’m curious about how much fabric it took and what yardage do you buy for dresses on average? ❤

💜💜💜
You did a wonderful job again!! You might like to wear a strapless bra with this dress . Once you tan you will wear the dress to the store
You DO realize that you just opened yourself up to the scissors police
I think your underarms are fine, but maybe some people are just jealous of your waist and try to compensate it this way…😉 Have a wonderful weekend!
Hint I break my gathering threads at each seam. It’s so much easier to not have to control lots of thread
That dress is nice but I would take the top off and make a plain bodice with cap sleeves maybe. You did a great job it’s just not your style. You were uncomfortable wearing it, if I’m wrong sorry.

I always thought to myself…dress age appropriate.
I don’t think the chooks are going to care about your side boob 🥚 🥚 As long as you don’t turn too fast you should be ok 🫣

I think the straps are too long. The illustration shows it quite high-waisted. Then the peekaboo would land between the girls and just above.
Omgosh so pretty love c it
Just curious.
