i've been depressed for like 5 years now... i've got no friends, only family that support me, not that much, but they do support me. i walk around school, all alone, seeing other people talking with their friends, some people in love, some getting angry at each other, while i'm there, sitting alone, watching everyone have a happy life while i'm there, hiding my tears, faking a smile everyday. the sad thing is, i'm actually a great guy and i never hurt anyone and i don't plan to, so why do people constantly avoid me? i'm extremely afraid i continue to be like this in the future... i've got 0 motivation to study, 0 motivation to do anything really, i just sit in my bedroom, watching other people's instagram stories with their friends. what a sad life i have. take care guys. i wish you the best.

Lots of depressed teens in these comments. I just wanna say that when I was 19-23 I had a really rough period in life. Lots of bad luck, my dad dying and all that was compounded by existing depression. Almost shot myself but I didn’t for some reason. I’m turning 27 this year and no longer wake up everyday wishing I didn’t. If I can get out of the slump I think you guys can too.

Life has no inherent meaning, and as scary as that sounds, it gives you the freedom to give it whatever meaning you choose. There are so so so many things you can do and become in this world, and in the end none of it really matters. The only thing that matters is if you yourself enjoyed your own experience. So whatever it may be that brings you happiness, chase it. Don’t let it go no matter what it is.

Lots of depressed teens in these comments. I just wanna say that when I was 19-23 I had a really rough period in life. Lots of bad luck, my dad dying and all that was compounded by existing depression. Almost shot myself but I didn’t for some reason. I’m turning 27 this year and no longer wake up everyday wishing I didn’t. If I can get out of the slump I think you guys can too.

Here’s my philosophy on it. Keep in mind I’m only 20 so I may be stupid, but I think the point it just to enjoy it. Life has no inherent meaning, and as scary as that sounds, it gives you the freedom to give it whatever meaning you choose. There are so so so many things you can do and become in this world, and in the end none of it really matters. The only thing that matters is if you yourself enjoyed your own experience. So whatever it may be that brings you happiness, chase it. Don’t let it go no matter what it is.
