- Making of Black Hawk Down (B-Roll)
Action/war drama based on the best-selling book detailing a near-disastrous mission in Somalia on October 3, 1993. On this date nearly 100 U.S. Army Rangers, commanded by Capt. Mike Steele, were dropped by helicopter deep into the capital city of Mogadishu to capture two top lieutenants of a Somali warlord. This led to a large and drawn-out firefight between the Army Ranges, US Special Forces, and hundreds of Somali gunmen; resulting in the destruction of two U.S. Black Hawk helicopters. The film focuses on the heroic efforts of various Rangers to get to the downed black hawks, centering on SSG Eversmann, leading the Ranger unit Chalk Four to the first black hawk crash site, Chief Warrant Officer Durant who was captured after being the only survivor of the second black hawk crash, as well as many others who were involved.

The film's almost 20 years old. This beats every kind of War Movies out there. BHD is still one of the best! 😃
Best along with saving private ryan
Indeed, well said.
Clearly you haven't seen Glory..
@@TheRealAwesomePossum hey bro now you watched this movie 😂😂
@@raiderr.h7171 I refuse to watch it bro..
Ridley did a great job, this is and always my favourite movie
This movie aged like fine wine. Still captivates viewers and all the hard work put into this proved its efforts.
in my opinion best modern war movie ever
I’m AMAZED on how they made this movie. This is my FAVORITE movie.
This movie still bonkers me because of how well it's made... I can spend hours looking at behind the scenes and still wouldn't be bored
This shoot's logistics make my mind spin. Hundreds of extras and over 20 key roles were shot on location in Africa with Black Hawks and Little Birds. The scene at 2.24 seems like it might be from a documentary. Amazing film that established a new standard for modern war pictures that has yet to be surpassed.
Interesting that all those efforts have never prevented wars later throughout the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, 2020s... All is wasting and wasting: time, people, resources, meaning. The USA's wars in Iraq and Afghanistan killed 900k people and wasted $8 trillion, destroyed Iraq and disturbed Syria -- most ancient places and triggered civil wars, got Russia involved and bombing Syrian cities to aches, and justified Putin's invasion of Ukraine and Georgia...
How can you not love this movie,?been watching this for how many times
No CGI!!! Perfect !!!
Josh Hartnett did a great job as always
One of the best war movies, I've seen the movie several times.
If this was made today they would all be in front of a green screen.
Yeah, back then we said "wow, that movie have a lot of cgis in it, so cool". Now days, we said "wow, they really used chopper and damn whole city's mess are practicals"
That would be more awkward, and less fun, at least imo. But of think the use of screen screen nowadays are just to make filming easier and perhaps also less pricey than using props, and going to actual locations to film. I dunno, that's just my take on your comment.
No it wouldn’t, all the vehicles / weapons and landmarks can be used still. Plus more green screen = more cgi = more money to make. Military movies won’t bring in the amount as avatar/marvel do, so wasting money to create the film with more cgi wouldn’t be worth.
Top Gun: Maverick wasn't infront of green screens.
True!!
this movie is very well made, the guns are so real, they look like they are in the middle of a real war, well done
Can someone explain to me how they’re using RPG’s in this film? This is awesome. One of the top 5 war films ever created.
Theyre on a zipline, basically a prop with fake/nerfed propellant and the final explosion is a set charge at the impact point. You can clearly see the ziplines in the move, especially the 4K release, they didnt bother to digitally remove them.
@@Henry14arsenal2007 thanks for clearing that up buddy!
@@Henry14arsenal2007 how about the guns are they using a realistic airsoft guns or something?
@@azuredragon9928 There are special movie prop guns that shoot movie blanks. I dont know the specifics but theres a whole industry of movie props and realistic blank ammo.
My brother and I watched this and I was never a big fan of war movies but I was hooked on this one.
Really? You like Black Hawk Down?
good memories ... the crash site of the super 6-1 that was filmed in my hood =) Salé city hay rahma, Morocco
Thanks for info🙏
I just watched it again. The editing and staging are so complicated. I only now realized Hans Zimmer did the deceptively magnificent soundtrack. What an incredible masterwork, one of Scott's best.
This is the one of the best war movie BLACK HAWAK DOWN ❤👍
I love this movie masterpeace
Just amazing and a big thumbs up to the entire crew 🙌.
Thats one hell of a budget they have
Esta película es una obra de arte...
No green screen good job guys
Its amazing how they use real helicopters in the movie
Yep with the help of the of the Pentagon they got the 160th (the actual unit that flew in 1993, Mogadishu) to fly for them
They used real 160th helicopters
damn idk if all those rifle,MGS, RPG, bombs and etc are airsoft or what but damn all those bullet shell flying around just make it more realistic not like war movies nowadays most of them using a cgis
There are movie prop blanks specifically made for cinema as far as i know.
8:00 the best of that time 🔥🔥🔥
It coukd be a perfect movie when they will release it with raw audio in shooting/firefight scenes.
So realistic. Looks like a real combat! Poor actors that made a good job.
How much legend in 2021
Greatest war movie
Imagine how cool it is to fire blank rounds pew pew pew
Not that great honestly it’s better live. Done both as a soldier
As challenging as it must have been to film this, it looks like it was fun, at least getting to see the helicopters swooping overhead and the real Rangers doing their stuff before the actors did their thing.
best movie
7:00 you can see clearly the ammo and flash.
Was it blank? Or rubber tips? Real gun wouldn't have flash visible in the bright day time anyway. (Edit: according to recoilweb they both use blank and rubber)
7:51 oh yeah, the crew used riot shield. It's live but probably rubber. Or that was for the explosion
8:24 but damn, real RPG? Imagine if that guy missed, or hit the crew.
Check again, you can see clearly that the RPG doesn't come from the actor's weapon and you can see it gets guided tru a cable, btw a real RPG it's faster
The riot shield is to protect the crew from the blanks. Blanks can be very dangerous at close range due to the hot gasses and bits of unburnt powder and whatever was used to seal the end of the blank.
Main quality of this movie is: Are... DETAILS
7:43 LMAO I LOVE IT
Written by Wallace who also did Braveheart, about his cousin.
Damn Josh🔥🔥🔥🔥
So thats why they have such a realistic muzzle flash
WTF the little bird was real!!!
Yep, all the helicopters they used were real. They were from the 160th SOAR (Special Operations Aviation Regiment) and most of the pilots were involved in the actual battle.
My fav movie
my favorite film action war
Me encanta esta pelicula siempre pense que las ecsenas de los helicopteros bird eran falsas pero ahora veo que no😁😁
Keren, sebelum era green screen menyerang
Dan ini asli bro
Ridley Scott bast Acton movie
OMG NICE BRO ❤️❤️❤️
Question?
How did they destroy the Black Hawk in the show?
CGI and a scale prop model on site for the main body, without the rotors. Suspended by a big crane and zip lines to let it fall down to the impact point. Everything else is augmented with CGI. And there is a lot of CGI in that movie: Bullet holes, impacts and flashes, smoke stacks, the whole coastline, parts of the city in wide shots... etc. It's just not that obvious, which makes it so good.
"No food, no jobs". But everyone seemed to have an AK with plenty of ammo.
😅 somalia they are brave people ....... from somalia🇸🇴
Look, real gun flare, blast, explosive. Not damn CGI
Action good
Love this movie, this was made before Michael Bay's addiction to fake fuel explosions
why Micheal Bay?
This looks very real
This film now is 20 years old
Im so proud with malaysia
Numbers of men actors is amazin, we even see some previous collaboration of riddley army actor who reconized the one of The rock ?
So let start a game, go say 3 name of movies then if u got at least 1 actor name by movie/series, u win and launch 3 news movies/series names :
1 The rock
2 armagueddon
3 star wars
So are u the next ?
How did those guys sit on those benches outside the OH-6s without falling off?
rpg scene very legit
How do they make shooting gun looks like a real.. please explain or recommend the video
because its real fire but training ammo
About the Black Hawks. Were those props made from scratch, or were they actual Black Hawks, decommissioned and taken apart for the setting? Both helos looked too real.
They actually fires an actually weapons, flies a Helicopter and do stuffs
Wow
First of all, military guys don’t talk like this. If you really heard what’s being said in the barracks, there would be a moms against rangers the very next day.
If you’re talking about how drill sergeants talk, of course they would be loud, but of course they won’t be like that in action.
NO GREEN SCREEN EVER😳
DANNY
Real!!!
I know this is a very late comment but are those real gun shots???
Blank rounds.
@Beliomob Stop acting like a joke those are REAL GUN with Blank ammo.
everything in these movie are real.
Wow thats a Real gun????
THIS Flim Concerned Us
AND it Was Necessary To Take Part Our Negative Role,

Is It Possible To Make Black Howk Down 2!?
Well first you're gonna need another Operation Gothic Serpent since this happened in real life
So where are malaysian army in this scene?
Bro,are the guns real?
Is that gun fires original?
It is real gun and real bullet but the bullet is blank, it just fire.
hold on they actually flew 3 blackhawks? How the fu
4 black hawks and 4 little birds ...
The 160th provided support with the help of the government. They trained the actors through RIP/RASP and Operator Training Course for like a month
Also how do they make the fake gun shots ?
Blank rounds. They produce muzzle flash and light recoil and a case is ejected too, except no projectile flies out of the barrel.
You can see guys with paintball guns in some scenes. They use special balls for sparks or dust.
Malaysian army saved the american troop.....but no credit for them in this movie.Without Malaysian Army....the americans army will die. This is truth!!!
not only Malaysia Army, India army also did that
@@opowaewis yes...it's true.
There are in the movie
Ridley Scott is beyond truth...watch Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven....who cares if isn't the truth? are wonderful movies period!
8:29 wtf that's real bro.
Before CGI took over
Always succeed

Pulling string for flying RPG...
Question
How did they destroy the Black Hawk in the show?
Pilots did the helicopter spins at a hight altitude
This is how you make a movie, not like now with all this dogshit CGI
The true hero in black hawk down was Malaysian army who rescue American elite army out of wat zone
They started a war to make this film

Is this isis vs america ?
No this was before ISIS. The U.S. was in Somalia in 1993, with other countries, on a humanitarian mission. The video notes above explain in greater detail.
no American army vs Genaral aidid somali leader 1993
