@@blackraven2062 both. Quite literally. The books are a maester retelling the story retellings by various witnesses, often with heavy biases. In Westeros’ history Aemond is seen as a sinful kinslayer, so the maester assumes he has no remorse for his actions. The show is essentially what actually happened during the dance, with characters changing slightly personality wise. Like how Aemond is far more human, and how Aegon is far less… humane.
