Drawing Journey by Train: Meeting People While Going to Jaipur, India (India7)

This drawing journey takes us by train to Jaipur, India.
Jaipur is also widely known as the Pink City.
In 1876, the entire city was painted pink to commemorate the visit of Prince Edward, then Prince of Wales (later Edward VII). This tradition has continued to this day, and many buildings in the city are adorned in pink.
Hawa Mahal
Hawa Mahal, meaning “Palace of Winds,” is a five-story palace built in 1799.
It is known for its honeycomb-shaped windows, designed so the royal women could observe the street outside without being seen. These windows also allow cool breezes to pass through, hence the name “Palace of Winds.”
