I started a tradition about 8 years ago with my kids,,, I used to buy Hallmark cards for each of the three kids and my grandson,, they got to be quite an expense, so instead...... we all get our coffee and hot chocolate and sit at the table and I have a sheet of paper for each person that is celebrating Christmas with us.. we each write something positive about the year and encouraging to each person,,,, by the end of the letter writing, we have a sheet of paper with nothing but love expressed privately and sincerely from the entire family.... these letters have been known to be carried in wallets and on a bad day the following year, they have been pulled out for words of affirmation and encouragement... this is a tradition now carried on in all of the kids homes with their kids.... I absolutely love this
This is a great channel. Thank you to Sherri and Chelsi for creating this podcast. It has become a highlight. Thanks to Billy too, I really appreciate the high quality of these videos and especially the sound quality. Great to see him included in the conversations about family and Christmas.
I really enjoyed this video with all of your tips and traditions. I am the one who is always wrapping gifts on Christmas Eve! Not anymore. I have a date marked on my calendar for the first round of wrapping, then a second if needed. Not having our regular Christmas visits and guests this year will be different, but will also cut down on some of the extra work. More relaxing. Great to meet you Billy!
Lovely being with you. Here in Australia it’s so very hot, so menus aren’t a problem. Can’t go,past a barbecue with lots of salads, some prawns etc, then finish off with pavlova and fruit salad. Usually too hot to eat. Decorating house..lights and tree in corner. Boring compared to you guys! No Christmas quilts, just table runner and cute place mats. Xx
Thank you ladies and Billy!! Such a talented family!! I love all of the tips!! I’m trying to be less stressed about Christmas and to be able to enjoy the special day! Sherrie, I really like the tip of writing down what you have finished and worked on during the year!! I would love to put my goals down for 2021!! Excited to see the next podcast!!
Thank You Billy for the new bomber, makes listing much better, I have done Fly Lady since 1998 and make list for about any and every thing. I repeat the Thanksgiving and Christmas meals but have added some new dishes, and put it in under the holiday in just a Holiday book Placemats are a most at the table here. When the kids were off we had a volunteer service for them to do like, Church, serving meals at a shelter, etc, as a family. I have a list printed up with the five things to put down and as a family we drew names and it had things on it for ideas to get that everyone needed or wanted, minus the expensive one. One year I made pillowcase for our block and another time treat bag with coffee or meal cards in them to use. A nice video today, THANK YOU. Stay Safe till the next time.
I have kept a Christmas journal for years that includes presents given and received, decorating ideas, special events and things I want to add to our activities, change or take away. I also include things I need for next year like lights, new wreaths or ribbons, wrapping paper, etc. It has been a very handy resource!
Thank you ladies. I love the way that you focus on the fact that this is a season to be kind to yourself and that it is about creating tradition with family. I live in a country where we celebrate Christmas in summer . We make tradition around the beach.
I purchased the balboa fabric kit Timeless and it is under the tree for me! I’m so excited to start on this quilt after Christmas! My husband encouraged me to buy it as a gift from him! Love all your fabric! ❤️
I don't plan to give any homemade gifts that are not already made by Dec. and I don't bake for the holidays. I made those two decisions years ago when I was in the midst of raising kids and it was the best thing I ever did. We have SO many traditions that are far less time consuming, and realativly stress free and our family loved them. - Love your podcast!!!
I got your planner and it is the best one I have ever had, so much good help full things to read I just love it. And than there is the issue with never seeing Billy but he has such a great voice just an opinion 🙂 you must have got married really young Sherri, no judgment here I was quite young myself, we celebrated 50 years last August. I love everything you guys do so thank you so much. Wishing you a wonderful week .
I would love to see both of yours Snowflake quilts. I also think you should come out with a Christmas Fabric collection, even if it's all your greens and reds from previous collection. Now to hunt down that Summer Sweet fabric.
Thank you. Great episode! I think traditions will be more important this year than ever before. One that we as a family and a lot of East coast Canadians have is hiding a dill pickle (ornament) somewhere in the tree to be found. Because of lockdowns we will not be able to celebrate together as a family but better times are ahead. So many people have lights and decorations out this year which is fantastic! Take care ladies and Billy too.
Another great podcast! Thanks Sherri and Chelsi. But we want to see Billy. I've started one last Christmas gift. Should be able to finish but if not I've given myself permission not to stress about it...at least that's what I'm hoping. See you next time.
Love your podcasts...stocking or a mixed mini-tree garland would be fun, tiny houses...endless ideas. We are blessed to have a creative outlet to share with others. And it's not such a bad thing this year to slow down and breathe. Thank you for this chat.
This year I've already started going through fabric and giving it and batting to a family I know so they could make things for their family and friends.
Great show! Can relate to all the tips. My mom has always done part of her dinner early like cornbread dressing and yams and put them in the freezer. She also baked tons and put in the freezer. She always said the holiday meal was the easiest - I’m sure because of the planning. We stopped shopping for adult gifts a long time ago and just give to the young kids. Less stressful and we always get what we want during the year anyways - it’s more about time with the family and no need for added stress. My sister likes to give her son experiences as well instead of traditional gifts - so they plan things together. Keep up the good work - great show!
Thank you both! I’m sitting here binding my grandson’s first Christmas 🎄 quilt and I so enjoyed watching and listening to your podcast while doing so. Lots of great tips and inspirations! You Ladies are amazing! 🎄💖
🌲This was nice -Thank you. I had a wreath my daughter bought me when she was in jr high (she actually got married on Nov 7). The wreath I put all my home made ornaments on and I hang in my sewing room during the holidays. I normally make ornaments for family friends and the office -keeping one for myself and hanging on my wreath. 😊
I thought of focusing on four exact quilts in a twin size and not finishing the edges and then joining them to make a larger quilt to use on a king size bed. That’s my goal for this upcoming year for my son’s wedding quilt;)
I'm just doing a little decorating now with table runners, tablecloths and wall hangs to try to create a bit of a festive mood In my home. I usually heavily decorate but not this year due to CV. A shame because I love to entertain during the holidays. My family lives afar, and no one will be traveling this year. So it will be small groups of friends. I'm still going to make Christmas items this month but for next year! I'll be making another wall hang, another table runner and mini Christmas stockings for friends and family. No rush for this year, but a huge headstart for next Christmas! Always love your podcasts and project ideas. I have all your books and so enjoy them. Have a wonderful holiday with your family! Be safe, and the best of health always. I love you gals! Merry Christmas!
Questions for Billy: What camera do you use? Is there any advice you'd give to someone who wants to start a quilting RUclips channel, but might be intimidated by the tech?
No, no, no. Christmas trees in New Orleans don't come down until Kings Night--January 6, the Twelfth Day of Christmas aka Epiphany aka Twelfth Night--the beginning of Mardi Gras! Love your podcast! Thank you so much!
I love your Sweet pattern in the Christmas fabrics. I want to make a Christmas quilt and this is the pattern I want to use. Could you share the names or numbers of the fabrics that you used?
Do you have a list of places that we can take fabric to donate? I would love to have my destashing efforts to help others in some way. Thanks for your podcasts - I love them!
You always mention your Grandmother, what did you learn from your Mother? What did she do that was special? Love your podcast. Show us your stocking garland please.
Have to agree. Something smaller would be less obtrusive. These ones remind me of the “dogs” in recent series of War of the World”! But love your videos all the same..

I love this idea!!! Thank you!!
Always enjoy you ladies, thank you for brightening our day with each episode. And thank you to Billy for all the technical work to make it possible!

Another great podcast. I enjoy these so much. Thank you for taking the time to make them.
Yes we would love to see Billy and put a face to the voice. Quilters are visual people.
pro tip : watch series on Kaldrostream. Been using them for watching lots of of movies lately.
@Julio Roy Definitely, I have been watching on KaldroStream for years myself :D

I love your Channel and knowledge about quilting. I would love to see what size you end up doing for your stocking garland. What a great idea!!
I love the stocking garland idea ! Thank you !
Thank you both! I’m sitting here binding my grandson’s first Christmas 🎄 quilt and I so enjoyed watching and listening to your podcast while doing so. Lots of great tips and inspirations! You Ladies are amazing! 🎄💖
really love that quilt on the wall..... sooo beautifull!!!!!!!Wow
We cut down our tree for years at tree farms in Massachusetts when my kids were young. That was wonderful.
🌲This was nice -Thank you. I had a wreath my daughter bought me when she was in jr high (she actually got married on Nov 7). Chelsi, make a Christmas bed runner for your king size bed and work up to the quilt!
I really enjoyed this! Thank you!
The flylady is still online. Very active on RUclips. Diane in Denmark and The Secret Slob have Flylady inspired channels as well.
It would be nice to see Billy’s face sometime!! Thanks for another great podcast.
Hey Billie!!
King quilts are hard to make... what about making 2 twin size Christmas quilts that button together?
When is the Austin quilt event? I have friends in Austin, it would be great to plan a trip to go and visit them also;)
We want to see Billy!
I have your Quilting Life Planner and love it! Could you recommend a daily planner? Thanks!
Check out Erin Condren for non quilting planners. I love that I can put my own pictures on the covers.
Do you have a list of places that we can take fabric to donate? I would love to have my destashing efforts to help others in some way. Thanks for your podcasts - I love them!
I love making a menu early. I try to make a purchase each week so I don’t have it all in one week.
I’ve made a bunch of quilts but not a log cabin. Do you have a favorite book for log cabin quilts?
Log cabin is my favorite quilt to makes o easy to put together
Have you ever thought of designing a Christmas fabric line?
I can’t imagine waiting till December to make gifts lol. Guess I need to retire.
You always mention your Grandmother, what did you learn from your Mother? What did she do that was special? Love your podcast. Show us your stocking garland please.
Those 'boom arms' look awful! Lavalier mics might let us see the obstructed quilt in the back.😉
Have to agree. Something smaller would be less obtrusive. These ones remind me of the “dogs” in recent series of War of the World”! But love your videos all the same..
