The future was 9/11. It was the real end of the magic that was the nineties
a prescient line from one of my favorite films. a line that feels more true every day. the future's knocking on the door and its coming whether we're ready or not. all of humanity and the entire planet is reaping what's been sown by the wealthy few.
This song is SO simple...yet SO fucking pure and perfect. I can't really even explain what it is that's so special about this song....but I'm sure you know what I mean...

They define bohemia, but in a romantic way. Smoking cigarettes, drinking coffee, making music, barely having any money, but feeling like an artist. Feeling like the things you do are important. True essence of art where you don't care, but deep down you do. You think you're gonna make it or you already made it and you are big gun, when in reality you are nobody. But that doesn't matter. You are the art. You are the passion. You are The Kills. - Replace it with anything and you've got a reason to live. ❤

I've been knowing The Kills which is why I was super happy when I heard this song in "Children of Men." I stopped paying attention to the movie and sang along haha :)

Ha! First comment:) I discovered The Kills about 2 weeks ago, completely by chance, and I have no idea how come I hadn't known them before. The music is incredible, so simple and so expressive...and so new though I can hear numerous inspirations from postpunk which I love... And this song is amazing - they can make something beautiful even using the most simple means...great band.

I love The Kills. I got to see them in Chicago at the Fireside Bowl, I think 8 years ago. They were unbelievable. I found it incredible how much sound came from two people and a drum machine.
Right around 0:59, it always makes me sad and want to cry. Powerful song.

Saw them at HoB in Anaheim on Monday night and this was their first encore song. Such a great show.
Would be so cool if this video represents how this song came into being. Alison bringing that guitar melody and opening lyrics to Jamie, and him just sitting, listening, waiting, then...humming. This song is perfect.
