THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! we have been fighting with our 3038E for months - I could jump start the darned thing with a engine starter and it would run for a couple hours and then die. We put a new battery in and that did not fix anything. Tried your test; low and behold for the first time in months it started right up! Headed to John Deere in the morning for a new starter relay!

I am glad it fixed it. Nowadays, with all the electrical 'amenities' on these tractors, it can be difficult to track down a problem. Thank you for the feedback!

M’y tractor starts and then stops running after few seconds. Fuel filter is clean, battery is full… where do you think that this issue might come from

Mine don't either at this time (July 2021). I am looking to fix that. Will make a video when I do. However, if the lights don't work and you aren't getting anything to the starter, it could be a battery situation, OR there could have been an over burden on your system and it blew a couple of components. Check the lights fuses as well, and see if it has been blown.

That sounds like a problem with the battery, or battery connection(s) or all the above. If your battery is over 3 years old, that is where I would start. Take the battery off (if it is a 3038e, the brackets holding it are very possibly on the side of the battery, and you have to get under the tractor and take the nut off the bracket bolt while holding the bolt with a wrench on the top by the battery) and have it tested. One thing to note about a battery... just because it may be showing 12.4 to 12.6 volts if you put a multimeter on it does not mean it is a good battery. You need to take it to have it tested (many auto parts stores do that) to test the cca (cold cranking amps) to see if it is still putting out the correct amperage. If it isn't, it will have trouble cranking your tractor. However, the connection to the battery could be bad. Or both the connection and battery could be bad. Take the clamps off and clean the inside of the clamps with a battery post cleaner (get those at auto parts stores) and clean the posts as well. There are many videos showing how to do this. If you are using "temporary clamps" on the battery, then replace the whole cable with the oem or equivalent cable. It will save TONS of headaches in the future. Please let me know how it works out, or if you have already done these things, please convey what you have done and I'll try to help you figure it out.

I forgot to mention that I put a brand new battery in it, I pulled them three relays under the stearin wheel, and it started ….. and the battery…. You can bet your bottom dollar…. I didn’t reinstall it like it was …. I put two eye bolts and a strong rubber strap across the top of the battery

@@wadeballinger6877 Yes, I don't know what JD was thinking when they put that battery set up in there. Probably thinking we would bring it to JD to get it worked on. Putting that fuse box where it is really causes a lot of trash to be able to collect in there. I'm glad you got it going. I know how annoying it can be with starting problems. Take care!

Yep. It is. I have 4 tractors and I power wash them when I can get to running water. Thanks for the comment!
