With my Christmas layout now complete, it's time to enjoy the trains running round the tree on North Poleton! This has been a fantastic project to work on and I'm so pleased with the results. North Poleton is, at least in my eyes, the ultimate Christmas decoration for a model railway nerd like me and it's been great to share this journey with you on the channel.
This certainly won't be the last you see of the Christmas Tree Layout and in fact I already have a few fun videos planned for it already so this Winter scene won't be disappearing anytime soon. Thank you so much to those of you who have been watching along with me every week and I can't wait to show you what I have in store next.
Meanwhile, sit back, relax and enjoy some trains running. Oh and Merry Christmas Everyone!

Merry Christmas 🎅
Great inspiration for new modellers. This is how we new blood into the hobby. Keep up the good work.
And that sums up my aim for the channel in a nutshell. I'm no modelling expert but by showing things in a clear simple manner I really do hope it can inspire modellers both old and new. Thanks for watching 😃
I loved the final train being assembled with the van (of presents) being attached before the whole train left. Thanks Santa! 🎅
It was certainly good fun trying to come up with some sequences that make sense on what is a fairly simple layout in reality. Thanks for watching 😃
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy Why not devise a simple timetable. I've designed a simple N gauge layout using the excellent (free version) of SCARM. I then wrote up a basic timetable of operation. It had a lot of potential. Not done anything with it yet as I'm also designing a 009 layout using the same (limited) space.
A wonderful little layout indeed
Thank you, glad you enjoyed watching it run! Merry Christmas 🎅
Great little layout with all the right Christmas feels there! Thanks for taking us along on the journey as you brought it to life. Merry Christmas and looking forward to seeing your builds through 2023
Thanks Rod, I'm so glad you've enjoyed the series and thank you so much for becoming a Member! There's lots more planned for 2023 and Member's will be the first to hear about it. Thanks for watching 🎅
So great to see Daphne running. I'm struggling to find any real footage of Hornby's nicest Peckett in operation!
The Pecketts are wonderful little models aren't they and the livery on Daphne might just be my favourite. I don't think I've seen any footage of her running either although I believe there is a group hoping to return her to steam in the future. Thanks for watching 😃
Brilliant. Excellent demo.
Really glad you enjoyed the series! Thanks for watching 😃
Merry Christmas everyone
Merry Christmas Ben! 🎅
Can't wait for it to start! I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and that 2023 will be just as fun as this year has been :)
Merry Christmas to you too 🎅 I've got lots of exciting videos planned for 2023 that I'm really looking forward to releasing! Thanks for watching 😃
Really a stunning piece of work. Suits the season beautifully. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Years yourself, and we're anxiously waiting for next build. Many thanks.
Thanks! Hopefully the next series will be continuing the modular layout - I have big plans for that once I recover from building this layout! Merry Christmas to you too 🎅
Great little running session, quite the collection of locos running through North Poleton
Thanks! Yes it's probably the busiest North Poleton will ever be... but then it is Christmas! Thanks for watching 🎅
great job ! happy Christmas and 2023
Thanks Paul! Merry Christmas to you too 🎅
great fun thank you
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching 😃
I love the tunnel icicles
Yes they're my favourite detail on the layout too. Thanks for watching 😃
Wishing you a Merry Christmas…. Be blessed this Christmas…keep up the great work 🇨🇦👍🏻👨🍳😎
Thanks Charles, I hope you've had a great Christmas too 🎅
Lovely work.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas 🎅
Really enjoyed this series! The layout looks great! Hope you had a nice Christmas! Looking foreword to what’s in store for 2023 🙂
Nice video mate. What a fantastic ending to this series. It was nice to see trains run around the layout and they all ran very well. Merry Christmas. - Nicholas.
Thanks Nicholas, it was definitely nice to bring it to a close with a running session! Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas to you too 🎅
Inspirational,Merry Christmas
Thanks Colin! Merry Christmas to you too 🎅
Brilliant running, love the 009 running along side the 00, perfect running session, merry Christmas 😀
It does make me want to do a more involved mixed gauge layout in the future! Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas to you too 🎅
Brilliant series, has given me plenty of ideas for my .about, although mine will be N Gauge as I don't have the space to set up my OO set.
Awesome, glad it's given you some ideas. N Gauge should work just as well too, especially as it can be more compact that way! Thanks for watching 😃
Made my Christmas Eve VERY MERRY.
MERRY CHRISTMAS🚂💖🎄💖🚂💖🎄💖🚂💖🎄💖🚂💖🎄💖
GOD BLESS from America.
Glad you enjoyed it Lois! Hope you had a Merry Christmas too 🎅

It was a BLESSED day thank you and you helped it to be that.
GOD BLESS 🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖
Hello TMRG That is a lovely little Christmas layout and will no doubt be enjoyed every Christmas to come for many years. A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours and I will be watching (and liking, no doubt, lol) your future projects with the Modular layout. Thanks
Thanks Peter, glad you've been enjoying the series. Merry Christmas to you too and thanks for watching 🎅
Nice ending to the series. Really looking forward to the next one. Happy Christmas and New Year to you.
Glad you enjoyed it Tim! Next the plan is to focus on finishing the modular layout (finally)! Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas to you too 🎅
AMAZING series, loved it, love the smaller layouts you make... this is such a great idea... MERRY CHRISTMAS to you! :) 🚂🚂🚂
Thanks! I do find making smaller layouts can be somewhat more enjoyable as a focussed project rather than something that drags out for ages. Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas to you too 🎅
Fantastic! Merry Christmas!
Thanks! Merry Christmas to you too 🎅
Great like series. Could you put some people in the coaches as the light would show them well?
Thanks there actually are some figures in the teak coaches but I just haven't gotten round to putting them in the newer LBSCR coaches yet! It's definitely on the list for the future. Thanks for watching 😃
well I have spent all afternoon watching this series brilliant loved all of them thank you. so now I have to make a start LOL it will probably take me from now Aug 24 toChristmas 2024 to do it and I dont think it will be anywhere as good as yours, but I will have a go LOL. thanks again your content is brilliant Thanks.
That's a decent amount of time to work with! I think I built this layout in around 2-3 weeks so you can afford to take your time with it rather than throwing it together like I did. Best of luck with it and thanks for watching 😃
Great work that. I've been thinking of doing something similar next year. Given me some great ideas, thank you. You said you have used set track, what radius are the curves please? I think the small tank engines look great. All the best for the new year. It's OK, just looked at the first video again and you have detailed what was used, cheers.
Hi there, yeah as you’ve already seen it was all 1st radius curves. Tank engines do look good on this layout but anything larger starts to look a bit silly. Glad it’s given you some inspiration for next year though. Best of luck and thanks for watching 😃
very small but charming
That was definitely the concept for this layout. Thanks for watching 😃
You have a great show. I am new to model railroading and learning a lot from your show. I have one question. If I want to purchase anything from one of your sponsors, how do I convert the pound too US. $?
Thanks, really glad you're enjoying it. I'd just use Google's currency converter to be honest, although be aware that not all my sponsors (or UK retailers in general) have international shipping available. Thanks for watching 😃
Ok, I'm sure I've just missed something, but how do you make different locomotives go one at a time on the same piece of track? Also, on the 009, is there a way to set it up on a automatic loop so that it goes forward and back changing direction on it's own without operator control?
Sorry, brand new model railroader here. No idea about the electronics.
Hi Jacob, so this layout runs on DCC (Digital Command Control) which means each loco has a decoder inside and you can use your controller to select which specific loco you want to move. That’s a very basic overview of how DCC works but it opens up a lot more possibilities than standard analog control.
My original intention was to have the narrow gauge line shuttle back and forth automatically but annoyingly the shuttle unit didn’t get delivered in time to be included in the series. I think I’ll probably do a stand alone video on how to fit it in the near future though. Thanks for watching 😃
Hi TMRG do you have any recommendations on locos coaches and wagons for OO from derails since I am going next week
Ooh that's a tricky one since there's loads of really good models out at the moment and it really depends what you like to model. Personally I like the Hornby Pecketts and the J72/E1 from Bachmann is pretty good to. There's also the Class 47 from Bachmann if you prefer diesel stuff but it's a lot more expensive.
Definitely check to see if Derails are open next week though, I thought they were closed until the 5th of January. But when you do go be sure to say I sent you 😉 Thanks for watching 😃
What music are you using?
Hi there, all the music on the channel is stuff I've composed/recorded myself. Thanks for watching 😃
Great to see the finished layout with trains running on it, it really does look like Christmas and the running session was so nicely filmed. The choice of locomotive so suited the layout especially the festive looking P Class and the Peckett W4 Daphne. Thank you for keeping us entertained in 2022, wishing you a very Merry Christmas.
Thanks Nigel! It's always nice to finish off with a running session, after all that's why we build these layouts. The pre-grouping liveries do work very well on this layout - I guess that's an excuse to keep buying these charming little locos! Merry Christmas to you too and thanks for watching 🎅
