Here's my Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Episode 6 Finale Trailer video and Easter Eggs. Post all your reactions in the comments! Here's my Episode 5 video too! ruclips.net/video/hKPbg08QCR4/video.html
I'm pleasantly shocked that Maekar acts like a loving father to request Dunc to take Aeg on as squire. I have not read any of George's books except the GoT series, so I don't know the storyline of KOT7K. In my personal opinion, if this show / Episode 5 doesn't win some awards, there is no justice in the world. I must admit, the Baratheons are a persuasive family. Next to the Starks, they are my favorites. WHEN will Season 2 be shown?
I wonder if they reunite dunk , and tanselle that beginning of brienne of tarth.
@rabbitgirl42 Season 2 won't be shown until 2027, while House of the Dragon will finally return around June this year.
@Nicholas-c7l Spoilers: Dunk won't be with Tanselle, but will be the great-great-grandfather of Brienne of Tarth & 3+ other descendants in GOT!
Are the same cast confirmed for season 2
The actor they picked for Lyenol Baratheon is just a flawless casting
All of the casting was flawless honestly. It's like they shook the book and all of the characters just fell out.
It would have been nice to have Lyonel be book accurate as being almost as big as Duncan himself, but I’d rather have the charisma and aura that this actor portrays. Great casting.
"Who the f*** is Sir Stevron, your boy found me" - Lyonel Baratheon
Instant Classic
He played a British royalty in The Gentlemen. I was like “wait, that was him???”😂. He was unrecognisable at first.
Lovechild of Oscar Isaac and Robert Downey Jnr.
There is a PALPABLE change in Maekar's tone here. Man is devastated.
His brothers death completely changes him as a person.
The death of a prince. The death of a brother. The realm shifted and he is more alone than before.
@MaximusMontclair he probably wants to now try and follow in his big brothers footsteps and be better
Same thing happens to everyone on the toilet. Chill bro
@ScootinSilviaonly you are wrong
Even tho I was ready for Baelor's deaths it still hit hard when I was watching this morning.
I thought they changed it up and was going to keep him alive
It was brutal
I was literally talking to my self out loud screaming “ you knew this would happen “ while trying to calm myself
@BuiltbySani.... me too 💔
Man, I never read any of the books or watched any of the other GoT tv shows but I did watch this one because I liked the jousting scenes that I had seen through Instagram. I already knew that he was going to die from the moment that I heard how good this guy was when Dunk was hyping him up to be as a very liked Targaryen among the common people but I was not expecting them to do it this early, I was starting to warm up to him because he did seem a lot more genuine and he was a good man in comparison to his other family members in the room. Shame they killed him so soon lol
Already at the finale so bummed love this show
Episodes are way too quick in my humble opinion, but also works
@AnalyticallyMindedagreed man and it sucks
Me too. I actually thought there would be seven episodes but the trial is over and all that's left to tell is the epilogue.
@MonkeyTinitotally agree, my friend! Have a great week!
@A@AnalyticallyMindedo I know for a six episode season episodes should be an hour at least but I guess this is the cost for yearly release excited for next year
This show is peak and it has no dragons! I think Game of Thrones is back!
Never liked dragons in GoT.
@somakun1806well you’re weird then
@somakun1806I didn’t say don’t like dragons I love the dragons but this series don’t have any and it’s good as it is.
That’s kind of why it’s pissing me off it’s such short episodes, they are saving a shit ton of money on cgi. I really don’t understand why there’s not more character building. 10/10 show but wish there was more
@SaveTheWesttI hear you, but the show is pretty book accurate. Each episode is pretty much a chapter. Maybe they don’t want to go off script too much and chance making some misstep like they did in GOT. Besides, it’s new and you want too leave people wanting more.
Nobody seems to mentions that Aerion is the real reason Baelor was killed. If he just accepted Dunk’s trial by combat, there would be no trial by 7 and he wouldn’t have had to fight.
Especially since Aerion is not a coward. He was willing to fight Dunk one on one.
@rattiegirl5was he though? Didn’t he initially attempt to decline the one on one?
Iirc in the books he gets sent to the wall which is a fitting punishment if true
Daeron is the true villain here and does not get enough of the blame. He is the only person in the entire situation to lie and make a false accusation at Duncan. He then cowardly slinks away during the fight, potentially leaving his father and brother outnumbered and to die. Had Daeron not included his own false accusation at Duncan, then there would have been no basis for the Trial of 7, and then Aerion would have had to 1v1 Duncan.
Weird that no one else online seems to be recognizing what a POS Daeron is.
@bobbythotimus1184 no, he was exiled to Essos, and his descendants still live there, Varys is rumored to be his descendant
“Men will say I meant to kill my brother. The gods will know it’s a lie, but I will hear the whispers until the day that I die.”
I can’t believe it’s the finale already. This show is a breath of fresh air amongst the Hollywood slop we’ve been getting lately. I can’t wait for season 2 already.
Poor Maekar man. He was just trying to protect his son and ended up killing his own brother who he loved more than anybody but his own children. No wonder he was noted as being a "stern and cold" man. It's a miracle he didn't turn into a psychopath from the grief.
Protecting the entitled son he raised. I really have no empathy for him. His eldest is a drunk. His second son is a narcissist. His third son wants to get away from him and go to Oldtown to be a maester, in effect shunning everything his father is as a Targaryen. And the youngest rooted for a stranger he met in an inn. Doesn't say much for Maekar as a father. That part in the trailer when Valar says, "Why would the gods take him and not you?" I think is to Maekar. Basically he's saying why did the gods spare an ineffective prince and take the bravest of us all, my father.
@diananebdee You’re definitely not wrong.
He didnt expect his brother to fight until he did. It all gappened fast. If he would have known something different probably would have happened
@diannebdee I get the impression that Maekar is trying his best. In his defense, Aemon was sent to the citadel because Daeron II said there were too many heirs, and Maekar was not happy about Daeron II sending Aemon to Oldtown. Maekar is trying to better his sons, not well, but he is trying by making Daeron participate in the tourney and Egg squire for him.
@diannebdee Valarr was saying that to Dunk (You can even see Dunk replying "I've wondered the same" in this trailer) he was wondering why the gods took someone who could have been the best king in westeros and not some lowly hedge knight, that was taken directly from the books. (Maybe because Our guy Dunk has a big role to play in the unseen future which I do not want to spoil)
.
"My father was only nine-and-thirty. He had it in him to be a great king, the greatest since Aegon the Dragon. Why would the gods take him, and leave you? Begone with you, Ser Duncan. Begone"
The heartbreak of the Seven Kingdoms
Its very poetic that both Robert Baratheon and Rhaegar Targaryen are the great-grandsons of Aegon V(Egg)
Man I was tearing up when he was telling him “I’m your man” great show
i havent felt this good about a series in a long time
Love this series but still prefer GOT minus season 8. To me, that season never happened..lol
I've seen literally 0 haters. None.
@eugenechin2863 This is like 4 pages compared to Got 😅
My wife had no clue baelor was gonna die she couldn’t understand why I still had a sad look on my face after dunk won lol
Its strange as Ned Starks death was sad but this was almost worse, because Ned really just kept goofing up. Baelor just gets owned because fate.
I knew it was coming but I was still hoping something! Even though if they changed things it would be dumb😂
@Fiendishfool For non book readers Ned Stark was the main character and most famous actor though. It was unthinkable in most traditional television. Baelor is more like Oberyn to the show watcher. A quick fan favorite, but not much screen time and everyone knows they’re side characters. In fact, oberyn pledging to Tyrion and baelor to Dunc are obviously very, very, similar moments in books and television, from the same author.
@TheBelleTollsbaelor is bae , Obryn and bae had similar aura. Oberyn is also Martell and had more nasty side
@TheBelleTolls When the cut off Ned Starks head is knew this show was gonna be different. Im was absolutely hooked from that moment on
The casting of the Targaryens in this show is impeccable. Sam Spruell plays Maekar perfectly.
Honestly, this whole show was casted well.
not just this show, all three shows (even though some seasons were complete failures) had perfect casting when it came to Targaryens. HOTD season 2 was unbearable except for Matt and Emma's performances (and the dragons)
@valscottage Really? I had the opposite experience. I tried watching HOTD like 4 times before I could get through the 1st season and the 2nd was just awesome for me. That's cool that we're opposite in that regard.
@brekerickson9664oh wow that is indeed a completely different experience. Cool tho
@valscottage HOTD casting wasn't that good, the Velaryons in the books aren't black, so thats an automatic fail and don't forget that woman that fought Tyland Lannister in S2 final and Emma Darcy's Rhaenyra doesn't hold a candle to Milly Alcocks
I think part of the reason why this series so far has been so good, is that they pretty much stayed close to the source material. Let’s hope that they continue that trend for the rest of the series. And for all those that were in the know what was going to happen to Bealor it still was sad. Thanks for the video.
Same, praying they keep this quality up
It's damn near word for word frame for frame from the graphic novel.
Man Baelors Death was heartbreaking. if it wasn't for Aerion Bitchflame none of this would have happened. R.I.P to the prince. My fav Targaryens are always none traditional silver haired ones.
That kid playing Egg is crushing it! I was so sad when that woman told him his prophecy and he was like "Why would she say that?" I almost shed a tear knowing his fate.
damn bro it's not that serious
@Don_Von_De_LaNooch🤦
@Don_Von_De_LaNooch Some people like getting invested in the story. They use this trick called "suspension of dibelief" to better immerse themselves in the program and relate more to the characters as a result. You may be too deficient to do this though.
@Don_Von_De_LaNooch right lol
@Don_Von_De_LaNoochwhy are you here
Daeron: “I’m no threat please go easy on me..” gets paired up with Ser Robyn Rhysling😂
*But the pairing made sense. Madness in the mind versus madness in action. The gods' ways of balancing the scales.*
I think it's nuts that the last thing Baelor says to Dunk is:
"I need good men. The realm..." and that's when he can't finish the sentence because of his brain injury.
What he probably meant to finish saying is "the realm needs good men" but what literally happens at that moment is the realm loses possibly the *best* man, Baelor himself.
I need good men. The realm needs good men.
Well narrated. Good POV.
I was thinking about that too, makes it even more heartbreaking 😭😩💔 he is the king who never was 👑
Seeing baelor death from the books knew about it but when I watched it heartbreaking
Got the same feels
Dunk is the unlikely Hero here too. For the first time somebody who was born and raised in flea bottom actually stood up to a Targaryen and lived to tell the tale.
*Despite the tragedies, and that he did not immediately become a household knight, Dunk walked from Ashford Meadow as one of the greatest hedge knights in the seven kingdoms. Nobles and smallfolk would talk of his deeds and I think lots of puppeteering shows will be based on his feat there.*
@TreadstoneOperative Dunk is the Samwise Gamgee of Westeros. I can't think of a finer compliment for a character.
@gdbssaDunk is more like one of the treants than Samwise. 😂
I wish the episodes were more and longer. It's a fucking blast
Couldn't click this more faster
LFG! My Full Episode 6 video will post next week after they release it!
same!! i was waiting for this moment 😂❤
Same! Lets gooooooo!!!
"There's a war coming"
You never want to hear this from a Baratheon
I really like this comment. History is made. History repeats itself in a hundred years give or take.
Maekar look broken so excited to see his performance in next week episode.
Poor egg the fact a sweet soul like himself resorting to violence is very telling
My wish: S1 on the big screen. Cut out "previously on". Save the credits for the very end. And you got a 3 hr epic!!!
Buy a projector.
I would definitely watch that 3hr non-stop!
This my 3rd time rewatching 5th episode
I’m about to rewatch the whole thing. 😂
Those are rookie numbers
@mauriceetal1426😂😂😂😂
@mauriceetal1426 They gotta pump those numbers up lmao
Legendary refresh. Finished the episode 5 breakdown to see this 🤌🏾
“He risked nothing” is a wild thing to say about a guy who died doing it.
He was right it was very bad luck
He wasn’t wrong though. The Kingsguard wouldn’t hurt him, his brother and nephews wouldn’t hurt him. And that Fossaway dude would also not be dumb enough to risk hurting the kings’s son and heir. What happened to Baelor was just bad luck. So while Lyonel could have been more respectful, he isn’t wrong in any way.
@SJW906 It is strange to say that after Baelor died. It would have been different if he said it before.
Lyonel is probably alluding to how he lost the favor of the gods with his faux honorable act of siding with Dunc and being dishonorable by taking advantage of the kingsguards' oaths. He risked very little since no one on the opposing side had any intention of killing him. Baelor has everything to gain by siding with Duncan and will gain favor from not only the smallfolk but some of the noble houses as well. You can see Baelor's fate taking a turn when he faces NONE of the kingsguard, as if the gods are forcing him to fight nobly. Baelor and Maekar duke it out at the onset of the battle and it's his brother that ends him. Baelor tried to cheat a trial by seven and the gods made him pay for it. Aerion and by proxy Maekar also pay for invoking a trial by seven against an honorable, innocent, and just person. The gods protected Duncan and punished the Targaryen offenders.
@SJW906 i agree
Honestly, for a show that has no dragons at all. I think it’s safe to say that we are finally back and this season was a brought of fresh air. I cannot wait for season two and a lot more amazing things to come.
This show is literally saving all the past mistakes. Slowly but still. Plenty of genres could work in this universe. They just have to pull the trigger. Salute Charlie 🫡
Thanks!
It is but it isn't. I'm rewatching the original series at the same time and just falls on its sword SO HARD in that last season.
The show is great and I'm looking forward for more. But this short, slowburn, lower-budgeted, smaller scale type of show could never recreate the hype the main show had. Like prescribing aspirin for liver cancer. Like no matter how good the Mandalorian or Andor was, it couldn't have saved Star Wars.
@prointernetuser Personally, i don't care about hype. I just need a good show and AKOTSK is delivering. Shogun is very acclaimed but had nowhere near the hype of GOT. But in my opinion it's a better show overall. Perhaps, shows that run too long are destined to fall off hard.
I’m not ready to dread the next year waiting for more episodes 😭😭😭
Lynol Baratheon saying there’s a war coming reminded me of Robert having the feeling of a war coming before the died.
Hopefully we get a good look at the mess and battle flashback in the next episode.
Never thought I'd get the same buzz as I felt with the earlier seasons of Game of Thrones. Very glad to be wrong 😊👌
1000%
I've heard grrm praising the actual joust action as more historically accurate than anything in film before. This show is novella accurate and so damn great!
Gotta love when a writer/show runner does the source material right. 👏🏻
Mostly accurate. There are some enhancements that actually really do a lot to fill out the show, but some of it may be a little bit questionable. Overall though, excellent adaptation.
0:35 that scene is probably the end of the episode where they join up again
Looks like it
Exactly what I thought
Yea and then BYEEE.
The trial of 7 was a brilliant scene, brutal and very realistic. This is so much better and easier to follow and connects much more than the House of Dragon stuff, they should put all of the resources into this story.
Minor spoiler, most of these characters don't appear in the other two Dunk & Egg books so this is likely the last time we see most of them at least for a while ☹️
This is my favorite show & it’s not remotely close! Thanks for all the awesome updates and coverage, Charlie!
The lower Budget made this episode way better. Yes it would be cool to see all the other fights and the deaths of the others, but seeing it only in Dunks perspective makes "us" (The audience) feel the anxiety of the battle
I agree. People say they wanted to see more of the battle but I got enough through what was showed. The flash back did go a touch too long though
Lyonnel is truly a fucking Chad
A franchise THIS big having budget issues is a tragedy
I don't get it. Why would it have a small budget? It's being advertised and well anticipated. A lot of press and such. GoT was a huge hit. So... why would the budget be shorted on this?
CGI is simply uber expensive these days. That's the main issue.
@saltpeter7429prob spending $$ on HotD
@HaterImmunityAll CGI is cheaper than it has ever been. The problem is the directors are getting lazy and "we can fix it in post" has become the norm, drastically increasing the workload of the vfx guys.
It's less that it has 'budget issues', and more that it didn't need a huge budget, and that was likely one of the reasons it was greenlit - they don't have dozens of shooting locations across several continents, and the need for huge amounts of CGI in many shots and all the rest of the logistical nightmares that brings in.
But as a result they have less budgetary 'slack' to work with. When you have $20m per episode for ten episodes, quarter a mill for more stunt shots is a smaller percentage of the total than quarter a mill on a $10m per episode budget for six episodes (which is broadly what the difference is between HotD and this)
Fuck! This series is so good. I wound up going and reading all the novellas and i couldnt see hear or think of anyone other that these actors doing these parts.
6:50 Baelor took the biggest risk! To DEFEND a stranger against his own family!
Dunk just up and walking about with 1.5 eyes and several stab wounds. That boiled wine is something else
Difficult to pierce mail with swords and such... I would say the spear and the knife did the most damage on that front
I watched this and I immediately said the lance wound was overdone because that was a fatal and debilitating wound in itself. Then you have the sword wound through the area where the femoral artery is and he would have bled out in two minutes, unconscious in less. Then you have an half-dozen full flail strikes to Dunk which combined would possibly be fatal, and then you have the dagger through the hand that could end a knights career. And you have whatever happened to close Dunk's eye and cause him to throw off his helmet. The dude, even if we dial all that back to be miraculously non-fatal, would be bedridden for two months before he could start walking around and packing his stuff up.
@eddarby469 yeah but they poured boiled wine on it 😂
What part of Fantasy genre don't you understand?
@knightheaven8992 this. almost all of the stab wounds are just superficial. the mail is doing what it is supposed to do, and this steely pate guy is supposed to make strong non fancy armor. pulling 12 inches of lance out of your kidney is going to be a problem tho.
13:05 Too late for that, I read that shit after episode 4 over an afternoon.
"It was all good just a week ago."
I did want to see more of the battle. It was still great. Always wanting more.
RIP my king
Dunk had better roast maekars parenting.
I hope we see more ira Parker as an executive producer in future Game of thrones projects this guys understand and appreciate the fans
D&D did too. They let the success of the show, which was standing on the shoulders of the great source material , get to their heads.
ILL NEVER RECOVER FROM THIS EPISODE
Who thinks Lionel Baratheon is like personality wise Tyrion Lannister
The casting in this is brilliant.
Lyonel Baratheon looks like that guy you want to party with all weekend, but act like you don’t really know at work because he’s too much and is going to get you in trouble. (This is all Aerion’s fault, Dunc’s best bet is to just stay with Egg. Aerion would’ve tracked him down and had him murdered anyway.)
it was a good episode. i am a big fan of those dunk and egg books. i wish they would have incorporated baelor's "use tourney lances," because they were longer by an extra 4" to make him more of a strategist for dismounting / not perma harming the other 7. also, Dunk wasn't stabbed that many times in the books. first lance attack, 2 mace attacks, then it went to Dunk's flea bottom approach, just punches. finally, Maekar approaches Dunk with his kingsguard at his tree while drunk is recovering to discuss the future of Egg. i think GRMM did a better job on the writing if you believe that Baelor was smarter and Dunk was a better fighter than what was shown. love your content, Charlie.
Baelor😭🙏🏻
12:49 "Take egg on"....Take Aeg-on!
DAMMIT I CAME HERE TO MAKE THAT JOKE!!! WELL DONE, SER
I caught that too, good stuff
Funny I have Aha singing Take on me as Taaake ehhhhg on . TAKE EG ON me.
Interesting perspective here... So many things had to happen (the butterfly effect) for Baelor to have died the way he did. Of course, the lying is what set up the whole Trial by Seven, but I wonder: if Daeron hadn’t lied about Dunk abducting Egg, would he have had to join the melee? If not, perhaps a more skillful knight would have fought. Because Daeron took a fall and acted dead, it changed the numbers. Baelor and Lyonel Baratheon ended up engaging Maekar together when Aerion was in danger. While fighting with the ferocity (and honestly the laughter) he was known for, perhaps Maekar would never have had to swing his mace so aggressively-a swing that ultimately caught the back of Baelor's helmet. So, in the end, all of Maekar's sons (minus Aemon) are responsible for the death of Baelor. Egg lied about not being a prince and befriended Dunk, dragging him into a Trial by Seven for protecting Tanselle. Aerion attacked Tanselle, lied, and then cowered from a single trial by combat. Finally, Daeron lied and took a fall, which forced the remaining fighters into desperate positions. I guess in the end Maekar's bad parenting killed Baelor?
Ser Lyonel saying "He risked NOTHING!" gave me chills. I love this guy!
Daniel Ings was inspired casting!
I just watched ep 5 now waiting for episode 6 🔥
Quick mention: Rhaegel does have a son, his first two kids are Aelor and Aelora, who are boy-girl twins
The ones that the mountain killed?
@livingdeadgirl5796 No that's much later, you are confusing Rhaegar with Rhaegel xD. Rhaegel is the eldest brother of Maekar, thus Egg's uncle (Aelora and Aelor are Eggs cousins). Aelor dies in a tragic accident.
When Egg becomes king, he has several sons. Jaehaerys II rules after he dies, then Egg's grankid follows which is Aerys the Mad. Aerys has 3 sons: Rhaegar, Viserys and Daenerys. Rhaegar marries a Martell and has a daughter which is like 5 or so and a baby boy. The boy called Aegon and the daughter are murder by the Mountain during Rob's rebellion.
Is that girl in the background a Velaryon in the back ground at the funeral? Just happened to notice her in the photo. Didn't notice her before.
What do you mean the king is in his 50s so he wouldn't look this old. Both brothers literally look like they're in their '50s 😂
Baelor is supposed to be 39 when he died. I don't remember how much younger Maekar is but most likely he's early 30's. The actors do look older.
@kateris1976Maeker looks like he's 65 and Baelor looks like he's 52. I DO HOPE WE GET TO SEE KING DAERON BEFORE THE SPRING SICKNESS KILLS HIM.
Right. 😂 Bertie Carvel is pushing 50 in real life.
Episode 5 hit me in the gut. I never thought I would get very emotional with this story but here we are.
I wish Season 2 started this Fall, Charlie 😅❤ Rest in Peace, Baelor. He would have been an honorable King. Happy to see that Raymun Fossaway lived! I'm looking forward to more D&E adventures!
God how I have missed actively seeking out these types of vids after watching Sunday episodes. Between the latter seasons of GOT and HOTD it really has been a minute since my interest in the universe was this high and it feels amazing.
with the episodes only being 30 min i feel like i saw the whole episode in the trailer.
Love your work Charlie! Carlos here, from Brazil
Thank you!
The symbolism of all those branches behind Lyonel is so Baratheon.
There will be a trial by combat between Lionel and Ser Duncan.. end of bro-ship
Nah, that trial by combat showed that they really are bros for life!
Is there already confirmation of season 2?
yes, they're literally filming it right now.
What I like is that the show is creating something between Lyonel and Dunk, which is not in the novella. Dunk went to the tourney to get into the employ of a lord now a great Lord is recruiting him. Nice addition!!
It’s to serve as emotional gut punches a couple of decades later when these two go head to head.
Can’t wait for season 2!!
Children of Targaryen and other houses tend to have eyes of different colors. Shiera Seastar is the best example. Maybe Tyrion hint there, 😉
I like Maeker, really liked Baelor too 🤦😕
I can't believe I missed this being posted yesterday. next week should be interesting.
That damn budget.
I thought that filming from dunk's pov was great. After all, this was the most important part of the whole battle
Mb small budget is why the show so inventive. They have yo work with what they have and be smart about it
Yeah it would have been cooler to see more, but they did good.
Grrm said he would rather cont writing dunk and egg than the winds of winter
What's also tragic about Baelor is that even if he survives the Trial of Seven, the spring sickness could take him and if it doesn't take him, it takes both his sons.
Gods the writing is strong now!!!
Thank you Charlie.
You're welcome!
WHAT A SHOW
WHAT A STORY
WHAT A TIME
MOREEE WE NEEED MOREEEEEE
Ive been waiting for this video. I had to grab the book because waiting a week between episodes is insufferable.
So many moments in this series had me choked up. The casting has been EXCELLENT. I can’t imagine better picks for our favorite duo.
Still episode 5 go hard
i didnt even notices they had heterochromia!
that's such a cool detail & it fits the targaryen's so well. for me, its canon now!
Niceee
The scene with Ser Arlan and Roger's grave was very moving. It explained a lot about his character.
Right on time 😂
Nice!
That spring sickness! 🤧
The Blood Raven is 100% dipping he's fingers into the deaths ahead. Way too many “accidents” for this to be random.
