  • RHS award-winning garden designer Katherine Holland, who has designed our Sue Ryder Grief Kind Garden at this year's RHS Chelsea Flower Show, talks about her own experience of grief after her mum died in 2020 and how this has inspired her work on the space.
“For the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, I really wanted to build upon the conversations we started about grief using the medium of plants. I hope the Sue Ryder Grief Kind Garden will encourage people to have these very important conversations around grief, whilst surrounded by nature and see it as a place of solace to help to learn to live with grief.”
Alice, whose mum was cared for at a Sue Ryder Hospice, also talks about her experiences of the support her mum received there and how the hospice garden gave them a space to be together. "I hope the Grief Kind Garden can promote positivity around talking about grief. Grief isn't a positive thing, but talking about it is," she says.
