I had been making this move for ages, but it got coached out of me, and my ball striking hasn’t been the same since. I’m a 67 year old woman with various issues such as arthritis etc, I’m going to try and go back to this on the range tomorrow. Thank you.
I recently had an online lesson with Liam and this popped up on my feed, appreciate the upload as this had given me some golden nuggets! Good luck on your journey to + handicap!
Cheers Simon. I know some of my initial comments to Liam may have been taken in the wrong way, but as you have rightly deduced, all I was doing was telling a coach a want to buy into how I really felt about my game.
Agree with you Jordan that the opening comments may have come across a little boastful. They were not meant to serve as anything more than an insight how "I" felt about my game. As it was my first lesson with Liam and only had an hour, I wanted to make sure he fully understood where I was at from a personal perspective. I went to him in the knowledge that I am not the best player I can be and need help in achieving a much higher floor as when its going well its great but when the game is not there, its pretty awful. Thanks for watching (even if only for a minute!) and hope you will come back soon.
Hi Matt, really good question. So the feeling Liam was trying to give me was not lateral but more towards, as you said around 10 o’clock. That’s the reason for the step off to give you space to move back into.
Yes I kind of cringed a little bit watching it back but in my defence I have been reading quite a bit around positive affirmation (numerous Bob Rotella and "Be a Player" by Pia Neilson) and being modest is not conducive to a positive outlook. I know not very "English" of me but I am trying to be the best player i possibly can be.
I am sure a few at the club will disagree with me Charles. Being a great ball striker is all for nothing if you keep shooting 80+! All i am trying to achieve is being the best possible player I can be. Where that leaves me, who knows. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching the video.
What a great question. That I am trying to 'feel out' currently via the towel drill, the hitting the mat drill and hitting balls. I don't think its about how far you lean but moreover the general move into the ball and covering it correctly. A few times last night at the range, I did it incorrectly, moved left rather than in and shanked it miles right! Think they call that work in progress!!
@@barrygolf Interesting, in the video it was quite clear that you were hitting the ball very straight once you implemented the tips from Liam. Where did you generally miss before going to Liam ?
@@kfraser01another great question. My main miss was a spinny block right cut where I would either get the club stick behind me or I got a bit quick in transition and could not square the face up. What Liam has given me is the time and space to have the club in front of me and staying over the ball longer. This will help with not only face control but also getting more shaft lean for better connection
Apparently it’s the same but you need your sternum to “get more off it” Liam states that on tour he would hit 1 deg down. I’m not sure what clubhead speed you would need to get away with this
Not got that far John. Just been smashing away with the towel drill in the garden. But I saw in a vid he did with james Wiltshire, as Peter has said in the comments, he used to hit down on it with driver. But he also went onto say that was pretty common on tour.
@@johnbrennan2636 no bother big chap. In another lesson he talks about getting the movements right with irons as you need to do it 10x more with driver. I’m not confident about doing it with driver
Hi Peter, I know you may find this comment hard to believe but its true. Do take a look at a few of my previous playing videos where I have been getting well over 300 yds on many drives. I will have a video coming out next week playing in cold damp conditions here in the UK with plenty of drives in and around this distance. Thanks for feedback and appreciate your time in viewing the video.
Overpowered is one thing but unfortunately doesn't equate to good scoring which at the end of the day is the goal we are strive for. And Alvor, if you were at the bar, I would by you a drink, and it wouldn't be sour grapes!
Barry This guy being me does not know it all. I wish I did but alas I don’t. “And gobby with it” I can understand this comment as I made a couple of statements to Liam that may have come across that way. But I can assure you I try and be humble as I can when playing as golf is too damn hard not to be. I do appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and commenting. Thanks

This guy is amazing , he is so spot on with sequence and geometry. Great coach with excellent communication skills .
Thanks, Barry! This was awesome!
I’ve been interested in the golf swing and how it’s taught for 40 years.
His ideas make so much sense.
Very simple but very responsive.
Me and you both Pete. Like the ‘big picture’ view of the swing instead of the “P2, 14% wrist cock”BS we see so much of on YT.

Thanks for the feedback Kevin. He really is a great teaching pro and will be going back once I have mastered the drills he provided.
Had a lesson with Liam recently. - Amazing coach!
And a really nice guy to boot!
Class video , for a class ball striker like Barry he was willing to almost empty his ideas and 100% buy into Liam.

Thanks Danny. And a good call going to see him. Top guy and a great teacher.
How much is an in person lesson?

May I ask how you managed to book a lesson please? Can’t seem to find anything via google for Liam. Thank you!
Of course you can, here is a link: liamrobinson.proagenda.com/#agenda
Watched 1 minute and can’t believe how humble Barry is 😂😂😂

@ don’t worry about it Barry. It was only a light hearted joke. Enjoyed watching the lesson pal.
Thanks for reply pal and fair play will be watching now I’ve subscribed 👍
Thanks for the sub!
Very informative.
Thanks Bob. He is a super teacher.
Really enjoyed
Cheers Sean, Thanks for the comment!
Such a good coach
He really is Karlos. I would drive 2 hours each way if he wasn't!! Will be going back for sure.
Finally some use for all your beach towels from Spain
😂😂😂
Great video
Thanks Peter, Really appreciate the comment!
The in movement, is that a lateral movement or is it a bit forward,so 10 o'clock position if 12 o'clock was you facing the ball?
Hi Matt, really good question.

Best ball striker in the club😊
So he said !!
Yep not the most modest chap, quite aware of his capabilities and not afraid to say so.😀

Barry is bumptious about not very much, but it doesn’t make him a bad person.
The move forwards you do before hitting the ball, how much is it in terms of amount?

Hi, How does the 2nd part of the swing apply to driver and fairway woods, is it the same?

Does anyone know then, how that step move away at first is represented in a normal swing ?. Or one needs to perform that in a normal swing move ?
I think Liam likes to get that in to give the player more space on the way back to help initiate the lean into the ball on the way down.

I would not want to be at the bar when Mr Modesty walks in after he has "overpowered" the course for the umpteenth time.

I think you should have approached the lesson with a different attitude and not go on about how good you think you are. Embarrassing to be honest.

Too much talking in the intro. Really? Boring.
Kind of why it’s called an intro as I needed to explain who, how and why. You could always use the ffwd function?
