I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s in Cleveland oh and was a major devo fan. They really helped me through adolescence. My friends and I went to the local library to find the mothersbaugh phone number in the white pages for Akron. We called the number and Bob was so kind to talk to us teenagers when we would call occasionally. He was so sweet and seemed happy to talk to us. In 88 when devo came to town we were short one ticket and they invited us to come to the house to get the extra ticket. Mom and dad were there and Bob 1 was sitting on the living room couch warming up for the show (he did not talk to us though)
Bob seems like a really nice and smart guy. I like his accurate descriptions that are lacking in embellishments like "entertaining" or "props". Where as us fans would say spud collar or whatever.
So funny! I remember the "Bombs Away"! I watched DEVO in Central Park NYC around 1980, stood in line all day, threw up, felt better, and had a great night! The movie screen videos blew me away and I was really close! BTW, anyone else notice father talking at @8:08 about the Kent Campus shooting where Mark and Bob were students, he says something like "Mark and the other boy", lol.
If he didn't have a numerical "title" associated with DEVO (such as "Bob 1" and "Bob 2" [the late Robert Casale]), the late Robert Mothersbaugh, Sr. should be referred to as "Bob Prime," because without him (and his wife, of course), there would have been no DEVO!
Well, i think it is safe to say he was a proud father to all of his children. Especially to his sons. Wish all parents would be as supporting as that (with the condition of not hurting anyone or themselves). Such a quiet simple man. He's a role model for would-be fathers.
Wow, what a GREAT dad. Makes sense why I still love the band to this day. His kids did him proud and he reflects the pride right back at them. Thanks for finding this video treasure. Regards, j
All my male pets have the surname of Boy. I have a cat named Slender-Boy. I even call all animals by their names, and add Boy to them, Such as wasp boys and lizard boys, racoon boys, and possum boys.
RIP Robert Mothersbaugh Sr.
+odinvonzero Such a great person and father.
90... Not too shabby.
If there were a Bob 1 and Bob 2, he was Bob 0. I say that as the highest possible complement. A brilliant man and clearly a loving father.
Such a proud Dad. Nice to see.
Truly.
I dig devo like I did in 1981 and as I will when I pass on.
Oh dad, we're all Devo
Such a nice old man. No wonder Mark and Bob are real nice guys.
All hail General Boy! He will always live on.

I wish my dad would have been like this guy.....
Be that Dad, if you get a chance.
He raised 'em real good
Man, it's just good to spend 20 minutes hanging out with this guy.

ROBERT 1 RULES!!
Had no idea General was Mark's father!
And Bob1’s father, as well!!!
"Muttersbach" really means "Mother's Creek".
Music you would hear at Goldblatts.
All hail general boy!!!
RIP General Boy. What were the circumstances surrounding his death? Was he ill for a while?
Yes, he was 91 years old & cared for very lovingly by his family through terminal illness.
You can tell that’s Mark’s dad because of the nose!…
Isn’t he Buried in oak wood cemetery
Yes, with his wife, and his parents are there, too.
Bob 0
