Having more or less come to terms with operating my camera, it's videos such as this one that delve into the compositional aspects of landscape photography that I find of most practical use. Your channel is such a great resource, Alex, and I eagerly await your next contribution. Oh, and congrats on the 4k subscribers!
Really enjoyed that video. You captured the challenge, the mood and the experience of hiking and photography. Wanted to join you as you went along to those beautiful locations.
Thanks for the video, really enjoyed it. Quite a mini masterclass in how camera position affects composition in the boulder images, I've never seen it quite so clearly explained. The pano shots are superb too. Absolutely inspiring, I'm not aware of any better landscape photography channel on RUclips.
Fantastic scenery Alex so remote and the grandeur is breathtaking. Congratulations on reaching the milestone I’m not surprised at all as this is one of the best LP channels on The Tube.
A great video. For me i appreciate the photo more when I've seen the effort put into getting it; the hiking, the camping, the "unspectacular" light. Looks like a beautiful area. Thanks.
Followed this with my map out, as usual 😀. Looks like another great trip Alex. Absolutely love the mood on the shots you show, and already looking forward to the book!
As an "mountain loving" photographer its so fine to look at your adventures in "your" Territorium. Great stuff and a "Chapeau" to the lengths of your etappes 💪💪💪 LG Klaus
Fabulous part of the world .... great video and images. Sorely tempted to join you next year if the old body is up to it ! Really looking forward to more videos and the eventual book ! Congrats on 4k. ps. Great fun following your routes on OS 3d mapping .... you provide just enough clues to find the spots, although it often takes a bit of head scratching. Gives you a much better understanding of the topography and relationship of all the peaks to each other.
Feel free to message/email me if you fancy a trip next year Steve. I’d obviously be lying if I said age/fitness/strength weren’t factors but I’ve had quite a few clients in their 60s albeit in good shape for their age!
Your editing of the videos seem to have gone up afew notches Alex, the b-roll and musical passages were something else - what a landscape... the b-roll and then that image at 8:28 were just stunning. You follow it up with that view towards the two peaks - the panos were brill. Congrats on the 4k subs, still such a small amount to what your content deserves. atb Al
Thanks a lot Alan, I've put a bit of time into understanding video more and starting to develop the same critical eye for it as I have for my photography. But at the same time it's tricky to hike, photograph, run a workshop, chat, and video all at the same time!
Annoyingly that seems to have been caused by a 3 stop filter (B+W) that I used for most of the clips. That filter happens to now be at the bottom of Loch Maree, so at least I wont have the problem again!
Outstanding!
Thanks
Excellent. Just finished watching Scotlands Mountains foray into the Great Wilderness and now another ...
Yeah a friend sent that to me the other day - looks like he had a great trip too’
Everyone is carrying a huge pack, must make the hiking a challenge.
Yeah, it’s unavoidable if you are carrying camera gear, camping kit and food for 5 days
Great to see you back out there. Very helpful composition and technical advice. Wonderful panoramas
Thanks a lot Howard, I think the next panorama is something special though, so keep an eye open for tomorrow's video!
Great video Alex, superb scenery and explanations.
Thanks Paul!
Good to see that you're back, Alex.
Well that was a feast for my eyes. Funny how much the tents add to the interest.
Thanks Mark!

Thanks Pete, it’s comments like yours that keep me going!
Great stuff Alex
Cheers Glen
Thanks Alex. You sure do have a good eye for a strong composition!
Cheers Paul
Good to see you back vloging 🙂
Really enjoyed that video. You captured the challenge, the mood and the experience of hiking and photography. Wanted to join you as you went along to those beautiful locations.
Thanks! You can’t really beat this kind of adventure’
I love your narration in the intro, its Tolkien-esk!

Yeah the camera position thing is a simple concept but it’s very powerful! Glad you’re enjoying these videos Richard!
What a wonderful location, and gorgeous images, Alex. Great to see you out and hiking after such a long lockdown - hope that all holds for you
I’m optimistic! Hopefully things work out in Australia too David!
I added comments to your (Highlights/Shadows)video, it was intended for the video..return to the Great Wilderness...thank you..
Great video Alex. Lovely area and images. Thank you.
My pleasure, thanks for the comment Peter

Thanks Carl, it’s a special area! Thanks for the overly generous compliment too
Amazing video alex!

One of the main reasons I like to hike is that it makes me value the images more and strongly links them to the experience.
Followed this with my map out, as usual 😀. Looks like another great trip Alex. Absolutely love the mood on the shots you show, and already looking forward to the book!
You’ll just have to wait a while I’m afraid! Winter is going to be the tricky one!

Thanks! It was a great trip!
Great stuff Alex, the landscape looks wonderful up there. I've never been that far north.
Yeah it’s pretty special for sure!
Superb video , looks an amazing trip. Hope to come along on one soon. Looking forward to the next instalment.
Thanks Ian - should be up next week, its a bit easier to edit so shouldn't be a problem!

Damn, that pano at the end is really spectacular. Also great job on the voice overs!
Thanks, the next one is really crazy....

Great quality footage (if a little mauve cast?) Incredible landscape to explore. Looking forward to the next.
Yeah there is a bit of a magenta cast that I need to get to the bottom of, I did some green WB correction of some of the clips but not all.
Annoyingly that seems to have been caused by a 3 stop filter (B+W) that I used for most of the clips. That filter happens to now be at the bottom of Loch Maree, so at least I wont have the problem again!
Great video, Alex. I'm waiting for a video on post processing photoes from this trip ;)
Ah unfortunately I did that as a live stream and then took it down - sorry!
Absolutely breathtaking scenery. Superb video, can't wait for next week. Photography as always top notch.👌
Thanks a lot Mark :)
Awesome . Is this in July ?
Thanks, it’s in May
