You are right usually if it’s not a really shiny diamond they put something highly polished underneath the diamond. If you have a flawless diamond and it’s cut properly and it’s set up off the finger then they do leave it open underneath the diamond because it will shine brighter and more brilliant this way
From what I’ve learned…. Those holes behind a stone do not mean they are a “real” gemstone. The holes are there for the purpose of allowing more light thru the Stone and for cleaning behind the stone.
Sometime show us how you clean up your finds...what you use to do it and so on. That would be great for those of us who don’t know how to clean our finds. Thanks!
Nice finds mate. Especially the ring and the pendant with the blue stone. Man that beach is crazy. I cant help but wonder why the local gov in that area hasnt collected all of that glass for recycling. This is my new channel for detecting only. My other channel Willy Wise is now only for my music.
New subscriber here. Am loving your dead horse bay hunts. Have you ever thought about trying out a very fine sifter. And use the water just to see if it increases your good finds. Worth a shot don't ya think?
Try putting the ring in an ultrasonic cleaner. The ultrasonic wave action gets in all the nooks and crannies; could get the grit from around the stone.
Try putting it on some aluminium at the bottom of saucepan heat with water and vinegar mix when it starts bubbling the off stove and add baking soda. Hope this helps
My name is Ken Tuck, and I just happened to catch your You Tube channel. Wow, you are "da bomb" of treasure hunting. Love your low-key humor! Were you a stand-up comedian at some point? I'm in Louisville, KY, and have been metal detecting since 1976. I started with a "BFO" "Beat Frequency Oscillator"...Meh! To continue... I love your passion for the sport, it's contagious! Your information about "how and where" and "thinking outside the box" are things newbies need to know! Keep up the great videos. I truly appreciate them!
@@MetalDetectingNYC great and thank you! I really appreciate your willingness. Found a couple of videos about Deadhorse Bay, then I found yours. Guess I saved the best for last. 🙂
I think you need to wear gloves out there, and/or hazmat suit! Be careful out there! Excellent video! I think I would have tried a round of electrolysis with that ring, that way the stone would not fall out. Like someone said below, those diamond testers are really cheap now!
That lady is exactly what I think of when I think New York y'all are funny Yankees for sure and your one of the most interesting people I've ever watched thanks that was fun 😎
Hey nıce channel💝I am Dutch.. İn The Netherlands we also had old coıns wıth shıelds on ıtt.. The other sıde has the Queen's head, wıth a crown.. Maybe ıtt s Dutch..(13.41) Good luck buddy:)!
Adeles a kick lol! Loved this video! I was cracking up! You found a nice WW1 OR WW2 BUTTON! Awesome finds. And a collar us button. Sweet finds. I loved the blue bling as well! I would have a blast at that beach! Congrats on the ring. Hope you find out what your holding there. Could have been a wedding ring!HH!!!
13.41 Is that a gold coin?!? The layout looks like a Dutch coin and the crest looks like from the Utrecht region. Like this: npv.nl/sites/default/files/veilingen/M1101/1357.jpg
There are 11 other words ending in poop. I was curious so I looked it up lol. Some are liripoop, clenchpoip, clinchpoop, micropoop, batpoop, etc. This is all from lotsofwords.com....LOVE your videos. Im from Merrick and live in colorado now but my family lives on Long Island still and im always jealous to see you tectin on the beaches i grew up on. Its nice to be brought back there while I'm stuck in the middle of the country. I hope to visit again soon!!!!

first i'd do the foil spit test if it smells like rotten eggs you got silver see if you can clean up around the stone more hole in the back;s a good sign if you don't have a diamond tester once you clean up the stone some you can breath on it like your cleaning your glasses . if it goes away fast you might have a good one there :) might be white gold too. for sure it's pretty old :)
It took a few videos to finally subscribe. Return the favor , it's free and also inspiring. I've been shooting videos just about a couple years now . I've been lucky in the silver and gold arena . Yes Adele should start a channel. I'm sure with her personality and experience in mudlarking she would be great entertainment. Good luck from central California. Big Mex Detects.
This has to be your best video to date Merrill. I enjoyed it from start to finish

The ring has a U with an arrow through it. Which is the hallmark for Uncas silver.
That place is cool, I could piss around in there for days. I mean as in mess around/look around and have a great time. lol. Awesome finds.
That “snail with the leaf“ that you found looked like a modernistic cat design to me. Very pretty!

The button with the stars was a 1940's military something, I found the same one , and seen them posted before,
You need to look close at the ring. Could have a makers mark too. Cool find.

WOW Nice find with ring. I'd say yep it's real. What if anything did you find out?
Some of those coins might be easier to clean off soaking it in lemon juice and vinegar for an hour, then brush it off. It works for me.
How about mud-hawking? 😁
Cool post... thanks!
The next time I come to NYC can you take me to Deadhorse Bay?
Of course
