The entire spelling bee story started in his first day of school when the teacher asked him to spell his first name. To this day he still spells his first name. That’s Steve, NO. PH. The rest is history
My father kept a dictionary close to the table. Whoever was nearest often got asked to look something up. He loved words (might peruse a dictionary for half an hour after looking something up) and passed his love of words and correct usage onward. That, and a lack of a television made me learn a little. I’m certainly grateful.
I won a school spelling bee in 3rd grade. But there was nothing beyond that. In 5th grade, me and a girl at another school got the highest score on a school wide math test. It was a small rural community, so it made the local paper. It's odd, though, because I hate math.
I love the new short video (maybe Babylon Bee) about a spelling bee. The kids steps up to the mic and the panel reads him a word. "Woman". The kid says, "Can you give me the definition?" and then the theatrics begin.
I will not be able to make the premiere on Sunday since I will still be at church. Guess my internet connection does not like live feeds since it kept going off for me. Congrats on winning the Spelling Bee. Love the picture.
Spelling Bees not really a thing in my country BUT one of my comedian friends has a TV show (came out of covid lockdown zoom games) called Guy Montgomery's Guy MontSpelling Bee where he has comedic Spelling games with guest comedians which is hilarious.
Steve i saw a video of the Italian hall disaster before i saw your video on the subject. So when you said you wrote a book. I spent hours watching all RUclips videos i could find.
I sort of understand the distinction of Steve and Steven. I called my older brother Steven occasionally, it’s his name and I liked the sound of it. One time he just went off on me that he didn’t like me calling him that. He preferred Steve. 😳 Um, ok. He told me why, which I will leave out here. So I had to bear in mind when I spoke to him after that. Odd memories of my recently departed brother who passed away at 68. That being said, my name is Tisha, not Tish. Hahah😂
I remember a friends kid, who was also a scout like me (i was a "master" as they call it in some places" and he was always called Max or Maxi but one day he protested and said his name is Maximilian which was his full name. And from then on we had to call him that. Don't know why but well
A simple photo of the picture with your phone will usually be just as good as a flatbed scanner for "most" purposes. The resolution of a phone is amazing it just loses out on making the image flat and the glare of the room lights.. And it would be interesting to know how many "new" words have been added to the English language in the last 50 years and how many (or if) the consider a word is no longer part of the language. My bet is that there are a lot more words in our language than there were 50 years ago....
Wow! Ten years of people telling you you really need to get to a doctor for all of the diseases and ailments they have diagnosed you with . How you don't understand Lemon Law. How you were screwed when buying your Ford vehicles using Ford family credit and rebates . And of course the pronunciation and meaning of words .

Wouldn’t it make more sense to send dictionaries to the losing kids?😊

For the youngsters, we had lots of words back in the day, they just meant different things. Tick tock and twitter being two examples.
I wish he photoshopped himself holding a $100 in the picture.

We don't have spelling bees in Poland, per se. It's a phonetic language. However, we have contests for written spelling (dyktando) and word essays.
Steve realized his interest in becoming a lawyer when he appealed the spelling bee he lost LOL.
Hi Steve, loved the live stream today.

Your first sentence is word-for-word exactly what I had composed in my head before scrolling through the comments.

Cool! See you Sunday!
I went to the county spelling bee two years in a row as a participant, also. It was held at two different schools in the count seat.
“In the count seat?”
@@jdmather5755 Typo "county"
@@russellstarr9111 Did you win?
@@jdmather5755 As if you care. If I had won, I would have said so.

I'm so sorry, my condolences on the loss of your brother 💛🕊

Are you sure your name is embossed on that dictionary cover? Looks to me like it's foil-stamped.
