It would be great if you can make a video regarding antidiuretic hormone, the adrenals, and Kidney Health when it comes to people who pee all the time but not because of prostate enlargement but rather because the kidneys are just dumping water to the bladder continuously. I have to drink 2 to 3 gallons a day to stay hydrated and it doesn't matter how I adjust my electrolytes, it's the same. I'm currently spending a few months sleeping extra and hoping that it's just an adrenal fatigue issue that will recover after I get caught up on sleep when I didn't sleep properly for 5 years due to a life crisis. I pee out over a quart when I pee so I'm literally at capacity. It's definitely not related to the prostate with the small frequent urinations and slow urinations. Definitely has to do with how kidneys are managing filtering and water recycling. And I have a pretty good non-processed food diet can I spent years studying the all the emerging research on the diet approaches and I think I've got my diet dialed in. I know people that also have developed this that never smoked but then started vaping nicotine midlife and then ran into a major water management issue a year or two and a vaping nicotine frequently. Thanks for consideration on this Different Twist of frequent urinations causes
Thank you again Dr. Malik. Just had a prostate biopsy, and it was noticed that the prostate is enlarged. I have had a number of the symptoms that you mention.
I had dengue fever a month ago and took a local medicine, papaya leaf tea. I noticed it improved my BPH symptoms surprisingly enough. Have been experimenting now and am convinced it has an effect.
I'm 63, very fit and healthy. I do all the things you mention in this video and have had BPH since I was in my 30s. My urologist gave me 2 choices, UroLift, which is temporary, or TURP which is not something I want to do. I use Alfuzosin which helps a little but no real solution. I've tried all other meds and they didn't work.
I had Rezum and it worked well for me with no side-effects. Make sure you have it under a general anaesthetic though unless you have a high tolerance for pain!
I used to have this problem. But 2.5 years ago I switched to eating the carnivore diet way. Meat, eggs, butter, salt, and water. Nothing else. Now I sleep well all night. Hair is even regrowing on my formerly-bald spot. This is the best health and energy of my life. This way of eating eliminates inflammation. I'll never go back to eating those nasty plants!
i have tried carnivore and paleo diets with terrible results, weight loss...but only water weight, felt irritable all the time, couldnt sleep properly. Also, my exercise performance radically decreased, and libido went down. Carnivore seems to work well for a small proportion or people, but most people suffer like I did. Eat your vegetables, eat fruit, get enough fibre and avoid processed foods, do some exercise, watch your portion sizes, dont have treats and snacks in the house
@@bobbrian6526 Yes, I guess we are all different. I felt the same way at first. The sugar and carb withdrawal lasted six weeks for me and was wicked. I have had surgery to my prostate, (I am 84, by the way) and I urinate hourly during the day, but I don’t have a problem during the night. Sometimes the urgency to pee is quite profound, but not always.
Very informative segment. Thank you. If there's an opportunity in a future segment, I would be grateful to hear what if anything can be done to arrest or maximally slow BPH from progressing further over the balance of a lifetime once it has been diagnosed.
The BPH issue is effecting me. It’s taking a toll on my ejection force and slow pee stream. And I have not had success with a urologist even though I have great private health insurance. My theory is there is some sort of blockage in seminal vesicles which is part of the prostate.
A good urologist would probably recommend a cystoscopy for you. A camera is inserted through your urinary canal through the penis and into the prostate to check for blockages. The procedure sounds worse than it is. Aside from perhaps an uneasy sensation as the camera is inserted, it is painless. You can watch the procedure in real time.
@@katazack I had the cystoscopy done. They showed the urethra passing through the prostate is constricted. I still believe I need a MRI for any other issues that might be on the outside of the prostate.

I had a HOLEP operation for my enlarged prostate and I was only 47. I’ve been right as rain since it. People can’t keep taking medication like tamsulosin for the rest of their lives and I doubt its effectiveness anyway.
Im 48 and already have bph. I got an mri and unfortunately doctors spotted something. I just had some biopsies taken and I dont wish this procedure to any man. Waiting for the results but the urologist says 50/50 😮💨
Hey doc, please look a little deeper because my understanding is that those that go on carnivore or a carnivore High vegetable diet with low carbohydrate content, especially starches, can also help eliminate BPH.
So Flomax solved most of my BPH issues but when the efficacy seemed to wane just recently and I asked my urologist to up my dose he suggested I get a sleep study. What, I asked, does that have to do with it. Well, fast forward a couple of months. I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and after being on my CPAP machine a couple of months I can see now that I didn’t need more medication I just needed the apnea treatment to make it all better.
I don't know, I really don't. I have low blood oxygen and specialists don't know why or how to treat it. I have inflammation and the gps just tell me and don't know how to treat it. I have chronic fatigue and sometimes can't take the lift downstairs to check on the mail. I am heavily overweight despite fasting for 18 months and eating healthy all my life and a lifetime love of exercise before that. Now I have changed to the carnivore diet and things have started to improve after 2 months.
How to deal with depression when a family member it's about to pass away..... Depression is getting the best of me I have never felt I have never felt pain like this.... I see my mom's travel during the day and I can't help a tears so I turn away before my mom notices in night time is even worse like right now so how do you deal with depression? I try not to leave for side if I have something to do I do it quick to come back because I'm scared of my brother is going to do something stupid...
Have bph and biggest issue is post void dribble . I was in flomax but the after dribble seemed much worse. It’s very frustrating because there are times when the dribble is embarrassing with a wet spot. What are the options ?
Only eat breakfast, then nothing for the rest of the day, OMAD, the difference is like night and day, you'll sleep all night without waking up, begins almost first night.
Feels like you gotta pee while your peein.Recently Dr prescribed Rapaflow and it's helping. Was on Flowmax but I was up every hour and couldn't sleep. You can tell time without looking at clock. We'll now I can go about 3 hours so hopefully Rapaflow will keep working.
A few days ago my mom woke up with Bruce is on her face I took pictures I'm going to go tomorrow to the doctor show them the pictures and ask him what's going on and because I'm wondering if my mom is hammering from the inside and I really hope that my brother is not hurting my mom and during the night
Reduce the number of times you need to get up in the night: About mid-afternoon (or more often), lay down on your back and elevate your legs above your head level between half to one our daily. You shall notice that you'd need to get up less times during the night.
Stop all dairy, that's essential. Fasting also helps. Edit: funny you mentioned the to limit red meat and high fat, I actually fixed my problems with high fat carnivore.
Do the carnivore diet. It will fix you right up. Get the processed junk food out. That's what's causing all the inflammation. Not meat. All those studies include people that are also eating junk food. I'm battling high stress. It's taken me two years but I'm down from waking up 4 times a night to 1. And I think I'll be able to sleep through the night as soon as I get my stress down.
Hey Dr, I had all the symptoms you listed for years. I went cold turkey, gave up all sugar and cholesterol rich foods for 6 months. Every issue I had for years was gone. The next year As I slipped back into bad eating habits all those issues started coming back....I really think sugar is the killer. I'm going back to better eating.
@@reyesmunguia4899 I hope so. I was amazed. Even my eyesight cleared up. To read a book I had to hold it about 2 feet away from my face. The optometrist said that was normal as we aged but even that cleared up around the 5th month...it's hard to cut out all sugar because if you read the labels it's in so many foods. Oh and I didn't use sugar substitutes.
Don’t forget seed oils (cooking oils whatever)is definitely a killer, most food? in grocery stores is garbage (bakery products, pizza ,cereals and pasta all contain sugar seed oils, chemicals and more sugar ) -No One Is Coming To Save You-
Thank you, Dr. Malik. Lots of great info in this episode. I'm currently taking pumpkin seed oil for my condition, which seems to help. Also tomatoes from my garden are abundant now, so I eat them daily. A recent video on another channel claims that eating cooked tomatoes, rather than raw tomatoes, provides more benefit of lycopene, but I'm not sure about this claim. It would be interesting to study, as well, if cooking tomatoes before eating them creates less irritability in the prostate. Also, one last note: I have observed that my BPH symptoms are often decreased after ejaculation. There seems to be some sort of relaxation of the prostate tissue going on, which, in turn, increases urine flow for awhile. Thanks, again. All the best 💙
I was listening to a interview with Dr Robert lustig. His research is on metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance. 45% of Americans have fatty liver and 85% of Americans are affected by metabolic syndrome. As a result most men have a massive overabundance of insulin. And insulin is responsible for massive cell proliferation. I think this is why men get BPH as they age and their testosterone drops.
@@IsItVeg According to what you said , should every young man have BPH. But facts say, that aging is the main cause . With aging men have less Testosteron. I believe it is the main caise. the second important cause is Insulin resistance and the decreased production of Nitric oxid.
Thanks Doc!!!! I'm starting to display some of these issues, frequent trip during the day and night, lighter than yellow urine, weaker stream, drinking before bedtime, not emptying my bladder, and sometimes the life or death urge to go and barely just making it to the restroom (about once a month with this issue). I ve reduced my water intake and just now getting color back in my urine. Going to reduce my water intake some more, it kinda hard because I always feel thirsty. I will try harder. I'm saving this topic and will continue to follow your advice. Thanks Doc you're the greatest!!!! Wish you were here in Atlanta!!!! Have a wonderful weekend!!!!❤❤
@MrFredlthomasiii The lighter the color of urine the better. Why do you want darker colored urine? If you are properly hydrated your urine is closer to clear.
Sorry if I missed anything, but I watched the video 2X speed. I don’t think you mentioned about Zinc. I read that a healthy Prostate has a lot of Zinc. A swollen Prostate has low Zinc. So maybe deficiency Zinc is the problem. Also you said we shouldn’t eat too much meat and eat more vegetables. I think that’s wrong. Junk foods and plants are probably the problem. Eating more meat and organs balances Zinc and Copper. And a lot more nutrients and vitamins. Then we become healthier.
Dr. you are the best !I'm 71 years old with no BPH. I've lost 100pounds and eat vegetables with chicken or salmon.I make my own tomato sauce no sugar or salt
Ditto on Kegel exercises, and after 7:30 P.M., only misc. 2 oz. fluid intake. Also, taking 320 mg. of saw palmetto (with 85%-95% of fatty acids). I drink 5-6 pints of water during the day and a pint (16 ozs.!) of vegetable juice. Little to no red meat.
i have bladder problems a few years ago too. uncontrollable leak and bladder problems. i think we ate some infected food salmonella pork or something. my mom has to go to the hospital a few days. i just do abdominal exercise a few years with sit-up and it worked. weirdest time of my life when you peeing in your pants. lol
I went full carnivore diet with intermittent fasting - all symptoms greatly improved during first three months then gone after a year but you have to be strong as it can get boring
@jusuftheeagle6772 In this video, she says to stay away from red meats, thou. I'm glad it worked for you. I haven't found anything that has worked for me yet. I haven't tried the carnivore diet yet.
Ive never understood my pee problem. I could pee a good amount now and 20 mins later Id be back to pee another copious amount. Where is all this water coming from? Im not diabetic. I dont drink a lot of coffee either.
I'm currently 40, but was diagnosed with BPH 6 or 7 years ago and have been taking medications for it since then. I do, however, have an auto immune disease and until this video (even though I suspected it) I didn't know about the connection. Always love learning new things.
I have heard of studies that did show that saw palmetto was helpful for BPH, as well as some that didn't show a benefit. I have been taking saw palmetto for about 10 years & believe it helps, but not sure if it's just a coincidence or not. I have found that taking Tamsulosin helps a lot but it increases my heart rate by approx. 26 BPM, and I hate that so I try to avoid taking it. I drink 10 cups of coffee a day & am certain that the caffeine irritates the prostate, but I love coffee. Thanks for another helpful video Rena!
Try getting off coffee for a week and see if you notice a difference. I have read that caffeine , black pepper and hot peppers can irritate your bladder and cause you to urinate more often
BPH or not, being well hydrated means peeing more frequently than those who run around at the edge of dehydration. That includes nights. On nights when a toilet isn't handy, use a pee bottle. Some nights I've filled a 40oz bottle. Peeing often isn't the same as peeing a lot. If you're a cyclist, it's not necessary to get off and pee. You can pee while riding. Or just stand straddling your bike like you're checking your phone. Short and loose legged shorts help a lot.
I'm 63 and don't have any prostate related symptoms other than the following. I can stop drinking all liquids at 6 pm. Take a good long pee just before going to bed around ten. Every stinking night I wake up like clockwork around 3 am for a good long pee. Then I have hell falling back to sleep in under an hour! I don't even understand how I can create that much pee by stopping all liquids at 6pm and peeing just before I go to bed. Makes no sense!!
Get a good magnesium glycinate supplement. I take this twice daily, the second time just before bed. You will sleep deeply and soundly. Magnesium also prevents muscle cramps, those dreaded charlie horses that wake you up in the middle of the night.
water vapor thermal therapy rezum surgery would like to know more about this because i want to preserve my sexual function and semen quality. thank you
I started drinking ridiculous amounts of water to combat kidney stones, so I pee like it’s my job. So I don’t mind getting up to pee. But the BPH has given me a lot of inconvenience and some discomfort with hard starting, slow flow, intermittent stream… it’s a pisser. Like one comedian said: the only time I don’t have to pee is when I’m peeing 😄
Definitely, after go’ogling around I realized that Simmy Krotiel’s Bigger Blueprint was modified and you can make it bigger even faster, yep, what Simmy suggested before was pretty good, but the new stuff teaches how to make it up to four more inches bigger
I started having bph at age 22. I have not had the best life. Now at 50 i still have the same symptoms but at a lesser frequency. I have also found out that having stomach issues, and constipation are culprits for peeing a lot. Fix your gut and the symptoms will be lesser.
I’m 63, Carnivore, and I eat high fat red meat and my BPH went away. Doctors - stop pushing that Red Meat is bad. Red meat is not bad for you. It’s all the refined carbs that are bad for you.
Was pleased to see you make a correlation between constipation and urinary symptoms. I've been chronically constipated for over a decade, coupled with BPH-related nocturia (80 gm prostate). I've probably consulted a half-dozen urologists & gastroenterologists over the years, ALL of whom immediately dismiss any discussion of whether the issues compound each other. I think specialization has gotten to where doctors are losing sight of the forest for the trees. Glad to see that you haven't! I have to get up every 90 minutes or so at night to urinate, but can go all day with no problem. Someone said it's because the kidneys increase urine production at night, which fills the bladder quicker, resulting in an aching belly, and the need to get up to relieve it; due to incomplete emptying, the bladder fills right back up and the process repeats. Is this accurate?
I empathise as I have a similar problem. Not getting proper sleep is awful and can lead to other problems, particularly depression and higher blood pressure. I'm sure you've tried diets, I've found a good vegetable soup particularly helpful. I used to fast regularly, want to get back to that to see if it helps.
This constipation connection could be due to the body becoming more toxic from the excretion process not working so well. The urine has to ship out a lot more toxins, and more toxic urine in the bladder could be leading to stronger and more frequent urges.
@@jasonsanders8091 That's for sure a problem, need to be regular. As I've mentioned, I'll try fasting again. For me, it's more about the pressure. If I don't go before bed, I know I'm in for a difficult night. Despite the advice here, if I wake after 4am, I'll drink a coffee to go to the loo and usually I can get a few hours of beautiful sleep afterwards and wake up ready for the day. The caffeine doesn't bother me, not yet at least. Definitely need to exercise, but I'm still working part-time and find it hard to summon the mood. A good night's sleep is most critical for good health.
@@nickbarton3191 I really haven't committed long enough to any diets, so can't say whether they work or not. Probably from eating too many sweets & carbs, I've developed too much belly fat, which I suspect is contributing to the issue. I've seen enuf postings about the problem getting much better by cutting down on sugar & carbs, so guess I'll have to give it a try. 🤞

I thank you for very good information i appreciate it
Pretty sure I actually have BPS but haven’t been officially diagnosed with it yet
Maybe you have BPH too
Thank you dr. Rena.
I had a HOLEP operation for my enlarged prostate and I was only 47. I’ve been right as rain since it. People can’t keep taking medication like tamsulosin for the rest of their lives and I doubt its effectiveness anyway.
Nice thumbnail. That size of tshirt fits well.
Can you review the ITIND device for bph
Im 48 and already have bph. I got an mri and unfortunately doctors spotted something. I just had some biopsies taken and I dont wish this procedure to any man. Waiting for the results but the urologist says 50/50 😮💨
Hey doc, please look a little deeper because my understanding is that those that go on carnivore or a carnivore High vegetable diet with low carbohydrate content, especially starches, can also help eliminate BPH.
Ty Dr. cheers from Lido Isle,Newport Beach CA.
My urine was bright yellow, so I increased my intake of water. It turned out the bright yellow color was related to how much B12 I was taking.
Good job. Are you from India ?
Thanks doctor. Is maturation improve the bph condition?
A great job ❤
can you make a video about hard flaccid syndrome?
Hello doctor does green tea help to decrease PSA and prostate problems?
So Flomax solved most of my BPH issues but when the efficacy seemed to wane just recently and I asked my urologist to up my dose he suggested I get a sleep study. What, I asked, does that have to do with it. Well, fast forward a couple of months. I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and after being on my CPAP machine a couple of months I can see now that I didn’t need more medication I just needed the apnea treatment to make it all better.
Good Morning 🌞 Dr. Malik 😊 some of my Dr. have told me clear urine is Good 👍
What if your cancerous prostrate has been removed ???
Dr Rena...what are your thoughts on Alfuzosin and Tadalafil for BPH and ED?
I only need to do it a lot more when walking or running, otherwise sitting at work is normal.
Please Dr. Tell us how to stop bleeding depo provera shot. I take one shot and bleeding for 7 months now
What about KANSAS, do you see patients here too?
How to deal with depression when a family member it's about to pass away..... Depression is getting the best of me I have never felt I have never felt pain like this.... I see my mom's travel during the day and I can't help a tears so I turn away before my mom notices in night time is even worse like right now so how do you deal with depression?
I try not to leave for side if I have something to do I do it quick to come back because I'm scared of my brother is going to do something stupid...
I hope it all gets better for you
Have bph and biggest issue is post void dribble .
In other words, you have no idea why men get enlarged prostate. All you can do is guess..
Idk why I pee a lot . I drink the required amount of water . I shouldn’t have to pee 17times a day . I’m 59.
Please help me Rena. Do you know anything about hernia mesh entrapment of organs?
Feels like you gotta pee while your peein.Recently Dr prescribed Rapaflow and it's helping. Was on Flowmax but I was up every hour and couldn't sleep. You can tell time without looking at clock. We'll now I can go about 3 hours so hopefully Rapaflow will keep working.
A few days ago my mom woke up with Bruce is on her face I took pictures I'm going to go tomorrow to the doctor show them the pictures and ask him what's going on and because I'm wondering if my mom is hammering from the inside and I really hope that my brother is not hurting my mom and during the night
the thumbnail tho!
now this is me.i feels likes im not empting out my pea.thank yo dr.rena.
Reduce the number of times you need to get up in the night: About mid-afternoon (or more often), lay down on your back and elevate your legs above your head level between half to one our daily. You shall notice that you'd need to get up less times during the night.
Stop all dairy, that's essential. Fasting also helps.
Edit: funny you mentioned the to limit red meat and high fat, I actually fixed my problems with high fat carnivore.
you got talents! nice twice...
I needed surgery. Not exactly a DIY job.
You might have helped many men by telling us what worked for you
@@reyesmunguia4899 I hope so.
It’s the sugar not the cholesterol!
Don’t forget seed oils (cooking oils whatever)is definitely a killer, most food? in grocery stores is garbage (bakery products, pizza ,cereals and pasta all contain sugar seed oils, chemicals and more sugar ) -No One Is Coming To Save You-
I recently discovered this also!
I think this is why men get BPH as they age and their testosterone drops.
high testosterone is a risk factor for bph
Also a great recipe for Type 2 diabetes!
@@IsItVegThat’s been debunked……..
@@IsItVeg According to what you said , should every young man have BPH. But facts say, that aging is the main cause . With aging men have less Testosteron. I believe it is the main caise. the second important cause is Insulin resistance and the decreased production of Nitric oxid.
That is correct. Keto or carnivore diet shrinks prostate back to normal . Urologists have no idea 😮.
Check for diabetes. Feeling thirsty all the time is a common symptom of diabetes.
@MrFredlthomasiii The lighter the color of urine the better. Why do you want darker colored urine? If you are properly hydrated your urine is closer to clear.
Better to up your water intake and pee clear.
Unless you prefer health issues and supporting big medicine.
Kegel exercises made a huge improvement for me. Took about a month to improve but now frequently sleep through the night without waking for a leak.
Have you tried molly to treat it? Molly will make you urinate 5-6 times a night to treat your lack of urination.
@@ytsux9259 What is Molly?
Are the medication giving you ED?
Dr Rena this was a very timely video. Thanks a lot Doc. You are awesome!!!!
I am in the same situation
Decreased production of Antidiuretic Hormone (ADH) with age.
@@shadmo8629 Interesting. Can any supplement help?
Get a good magnesium glycinate supplement. I take this twice daily, the second time just before bed. You will sleep deeply and soundly. Magnesium also prevents muscle cramps, those dreaded charlie horses that wake you up in the middle of the night.
@@benjeanettebooth1800 I already take it. I'm a bodybuilder and both magnesium and zinc help with the testosterone I'm on.
water vapor thermal therapy rezum surgery would like to know more about this because i want to preserve my sexual function and semen quality. thank you
I started drinking ridiculous amounts of water to combat kidney stones, so I pee like it’s my job.
Rina Malik you are very very very very very very informative I subscribe to you a long time ago you the best !
Very good information
Kindly do a detailed video on the surgical correction of enlarged prostate
I’m 63, Carnivore, and I eat high fat red meat and my BPH went away. Doctors - stop pushing that Red Meat is bad. Red meat is not bad for you. It’s all the refined carbs that are bad for you.
Absolutely! Red meat and animal fat are being demonized for no reason.
@@rredding there is a reason, they want to depopulate you
Even my blood pressure is better on carnivores.🤔
The fat you eat is the fat you wear.
🙏
Procedure vs. surgery. @26:29 I thought these were synonyms for each other. You better explain!
No, your kidneys REDUCE urine production at night.
@@jasonsanders8091 That's
for sure a problem, need to be regular.
I’m 64, and this isn’t a problem yet. But my wife gets up 4-5 times a night to pee.
I’m guessing, it isn’t a prostate problem.
I'm 66 and I like to eat a lot of spaghetti with red sauce ( tomato sauce ) and Italian parsley . Is that a food that is helpful to reduce/mitigate enlarged prostate issues ?
Tomatoes contain Lycopene which is good for maintenance but the prostate is connected to the brain 🧠
