I know nothing about swing dancing, but I love to watch the videos. I have a few questions. Does "Jack and Jill" mean you pair people up randomly? Second, do all of the dancers learn the same routines, so when they're paired up there's no confusion?
Jack and Jill, the dancers are paired up randomly. Even the songs are randomly selected by the DJ, however the dancers may have an option to select a specific genre (blues, contemporary etc) . Jack and Jill may require the couple to dance either to one track or as is the case here, the couples dance to two different tracks one after the other. The dances therefore aren't rehearsed/choreographed but are pure improvisation.
Would note that pretty much every champion has danced at least once with each other as the "population" at the top is incredibly tiny. It is improv and the pair + song are randomly chosen though yes.
Stunning performance
