This really touches on how(specifically in America) or politics and our idolization of the president or congressperson can be idolatry. Not to say that politics and paying attention to who represents you isn’t important, but I can see these old biblical patterns playing out in our modern day.

That's a common assumption, although, strictly speaking, the text doesn't say what Bathsheba's attitude toward it all was or wasn't. But since David was the king and sent messengers to bring her to him, the disparity of authority between them may have put her into a circumstance of forced compliance.
