I'm having difficulty making the holdfast, I think I'm not using the correct leather to make the holdfast on the insole, I'm using the sole leather, it's vegetable tanned but it's very hard even when it gets wet. What is the leather of the insole you use specifically? And how many hours do you leave the insole submerged in water? The difference in color between my leather and the one you use is that mine is more yellowish, like bronze, and yours it's more brownish In my region there is saddle leather used to make horse saddlery. This one seems to be more malleable but I haven't tested it yet
The insole used in this video is oak bark leather from Geberei Martin tannery in Germany. Even if you don’t use the exact same leather, using insole leather that you can source locally will likely make the process easier. The leather is soaked in water for about 10 minutes. However, the purpose of soaking the leather is to help it adhere well to the bottom of the last, not necessarily to make creating the holdfast easier. If the leather you are using is very stiff, it might help to flex the leather several times with your hands while it is soaked to make it a bit more pliable. I hope my explanation is helpful.🙂

It’s full-grain leather.
As far as I know, the leather used for shoe soles is always full-grain leather, and I believe it should be.🙂

@@JB-cl1xe 음.. 살짝 어려운 질문이긴 한데 질문 주신 분께서 만들고 싶은 구두의 모양에 맞는 라스트를 구입하는게 제일 중요하죠! 토 부분의 모양과 길이, 굽 높이 등을 고려하여 라스트를 선정하면 좋을듯 싶습니다.🙂
