  • Masterclass with pianist Laszlo Gyimesi on the most essential elements of piano technique: scales, arpeggios, double notes, chords and trills. Emphasizing on fullest flexibility, relaxed weightiness and adequate control of the arm weight and if necessary, the weight of the whole body.
    Pieces by Debussy (l'Isle joyeuse), Beethoven (Emperor Concerto), Chopin (Nocturne).
    László Gyimesi was born in Szentes, Hungary. He studied with Peter Solymos and Albert Simon at the Franz Liszt Academy and graduated with „Grand Prix“ in 1971. Further studies with Géza Anda in Zürich, with György Sebök at the Indiana University in Bloomington (USA) and with Stefan Askenase in Bonn. He was awarded prizes at several international piano competitions: Leeds/England, Liszt-Bartók/Budapest, Jose Iturbi/Valencia.
    László Gyimesi has given concerts in his native Hungary, USA, Canada, Cuba, Czech Republic, Germany, Holland, Italy, Japan, Romania, Spain and Switzerland and made recordings for Ex Libris and Musikszene Switzerland. He held professorships for piano in Stuttgart and Basel for over three decades.

      Is "invaluable" an insult? Cause its like saying "it has no value" so its just waste then

      @@varunsathya-composer1404 hahah 😂. It's not an insult by any means. Something is "invaluable" when you can't put a price on it, because it's value is too high or has value that cannot be monetized. So it is a very special compliment 👍🏼😊😊

    I am thrilled to have found Hungarian Piano Tradition. I do wish that the videos were in English. Nevertheless, I will continue to watch them.

    I'd love some help with how to play the trills in 3rd mvt. Of Beethoven's "Moonlight". Because of the octave stretch I really struggle!

      Those aren't trills. Those are tremolos, and the technique for the two are different.

    you should use subtitles in yellow it's difficult to read over a white background
