I have seen this movie multiple times and now I finally know what happened at the end. Notice how are 43:14 the car doesn't stop near the tree, but at 44:28 the cars stops there. This scene comes when akash is telling Sophie his story. This clearly means he made that story up. In reality he and Dr Swami never stopped there.
Ok about the ending. Akash is seen with a rabbit cane in the end, however according to the story he told the girl he was blind at that point so how could he have seen any rabbit at all. That obviously indicates that they did indeed take her eyes and there NEVER was a rabbit. He continues to pretend to be blind like he always wanted for his art 😉
The beauty about this movie is the director wants everyone to make guesses what exactly happened 😁 the director narrated the story to the actors and every time the actors used to guess what is going to happen next the director used to change that scene. I hope you realize the true potential of Hindi cinema I hope your mind was blown and there was a French short film that inspired the writer to think in such a way that he can make a movie with full of surprises
It's a lot harder for lots of Indians to join patreons... Cause a lot of banks don't allow foreign payments... But it's easier to join the RUclips ... Maybe you can offer that. Just a thought.
The ending was frustrating for me too. But I think what happened in the end is, they showed what he told his ex not really what happened so they left it open ended that maybe he did get the eyes and went ahead with the plan but he told his ex that he didn't.
The ending is just an open one. We can interpret it as we want. My interpretation is that the story that Akash told Sophie in Europe is totally a lie. If you see carefully, the handle of the stick that he uses in Europe is that of a Rabbit. If the Rabbit hitting the car had really happened, how would Akash even know that a Rabbit saved his life, because he was blind then and could've never seen the rabbit. What would've actually happened is that he took the doctor's advice and replaced his corneas with Simi's. The doctor dying, the blind rabbit and Simi's car accident was just a story that Akash made up. The Rabbit handle on his stick signifies that it's just a cooked up story. The Rabbit story never happened.
Actually it is the truth not just your interpretation. Look at 43:15, there is a tree in the frame and the car is way past the tree. Then when Akash meets Sophie in London and starts telling his story, Simi starts struggling in the trunk and the doctor stops the car to go and sedate Simi in the trunk(44:29), he stops the car close to the same tree. How is that possible if they’ve already passed the tree? That is a concrete proof that from the point when Akash meets Sophie, the flashback is a lie.

The film is not what it seems at first! Same with it's title! Andhadhun meaning 'Blind Melody' is not a word! But at first it sounds like Andhadhund which means 'Reckless'! If his story is true, he is a good guy & still blind! If he is lying, he is equally despicable & took Simi's eyes & the money the doctor promised him! Rs. 1 crore is Rs. 10 million!
