    just a quick tip: if you see yellowing leaf, leave it until it turn completely dry and brown. While leafs are drying, the plant is taking back the water and minerals from them, so it's good, leave it :)

    My red maranta was looking good for over 6 months then started to get dry tips. I decided to cut all those leafs off 3 months ago and no dry tips since then so I believe it was some parasite. I also keep my plant soil moist but it has good drainage and I live in a dry climate and it works for me

I do use a humidifier. I also watched your prop vid the other day and already have a few pieces of the red maranta in water (yayyy!!!). My two Marantas are much happier now that heating season here in New Hampshire is finally over so I’m not using our wood stove. Wood heat is very dry so I can see a humidifier in my future. I light misted my marantas during winter to help with humidity. Thanks to your excellent instruction I am going to start propagating my plants and that should be fun and interesting.

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  2 года назад +5

      Thank you! I don’t mist no, I used to but I found it doesn’t really help with humidity much and depending on your environment if there’s not good airflow then the mist can sit on the leaves longer and can cause bacterial or a fungal spread to happen.

I feel like she needs a bigger pot but the next size up looks too big. Is there a good depth they should be kept at? The 12" pot that I was looking at appears to be about the same high and it looks too deep.

    With my red marantas, I'm pretty sure brown tips always means spider mites, even if you don't see any. My initial plant was fine for a year including winter drafts. But maybe the plant fights the bugs better without tap water. Have you tried cross-pollinating your marantas? (I self pollinated mine with a toothpick scoop, it wasn't easy...)

I’ve seen some of the rabbit tracks at Walmart but haven’t checked recently. I would check any local nurseries or keep checking lowe’s or Home Depot. I go frequently but find they usually get new shipments once a week. They don’t liked to be shipped I will say that it can definitely stress them so I would check locally first :)

    • @ticcitoasty
      @ticcitoasty Год назад +1

      could be a lighting issue or nutrient deficiency. try moving it into brighter pr lower light depending on what it’s already getting, and if you haven’t refreshed the soil in a while or fertilized, try that too. hope this helps! a few faded leaves can be normal but if every new leaf it puts out is faded and noticeably smaller or shaped weird.. i would try those tips.
