Growing up in the era, I'll be the first to admit, I took shows like Rap City & Yo! MTV Raps for granted. I just always assumed things would continue to be as great as they were. The nostalgia these tapes bring back breaks my heart, honestly. There are a few still carrying the torch (Joey Bada$$ comes to mind), but the soul, the passion, the art of Hip Hop has largely evolved into something unrecognizable. It's like a parody of itself
Iam with you man. Late 80s baby. But unlike in the 90s, the good rappers today who nake quality music dont get pushed like in the 90s. Joey badass, logic, run the jewels, skyzoo, denzel curry, J.cole. kendrick lamar, mac miller, curren$y, big krit, lupe fiasco etc. Still holding it down for hip hop. Veterans like nas, snoop dogg, jay-z, common, busta rhymes, big boi from outkast, etc. Still holding it down for the old skopl with drops time to time.
It's a microcosm & reflection of society. It's no soul left in music because we've attached all value to worldly _images_ and not the people within the world.
That’s because the art form that was created by black Americans has been co-opted by the dominant society. Now everyone is doing it. Even Hispanic people, are claiming that they created hip-hop 50-50 with black Americans, which is one of the biggest lies in American history.
@blackpill5867 I think it's a little subjective, anyone 50 years of age or older is definitely going to say late 80's! I say early to mid 90's myself was the best era.

I try to tell them it's just the new school rap i despise - but they just say 'that guy hates all rap' - What they dont understand is this era of rap - 90's rap was ELITE LEVEL rap and i will always be the biggest fan of this music. In all my music - i got influenced by these beats to make all my current music.
90's rap had a badass quality to it - a GRIT and when they wanted to be positive and clean - it was still cool and not gaudy and fake as fk. All the new school rap and man ALL THE new music of today SUCKS. That's coming from a guy who made 42 albums in his lifetime and whose life is music.
Man I'm 21 and fully agree it's a clown show now
Was like 19 years old...hooping all day, walking around the mall, grabbing a hoagie at the student union...trying to get numbers of a chic in class....sophomore year in college...man memories!
I got chills watching this! So many good memories 💕
Thst world renown track seriously took me back. 5 in 95 no worries life was awesome
I don’t know what’s better the music videos or the commercials 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nah just playing the commercials are way better 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
