You certainly seem to have had fun! I especially like the pack of old travel poster postcards. The postcard rate stamps I believe are released by a private company. The produce stamps with different designs for different parts of Great Britain, so for example if you bought the stamps in Salisbury, they might feature Stonehenge. I believe that the idea is that you post postcards with these stamps in the normal pillar boxes in the UK. They are then separated by Royal Mail and sent to a nominated office from which they are sent to a country that has cheap postal rates with which the company has an arrangement. The postcards are then delivered through the normal postal routes for that country. It can take a little longer for the postcards to arrive, but they get there in the end and it's always nice to get a different stamp on one's mail.
Sounds like a great meet up - there was a national art postcard competition at North York Art school and the exhibition starts in the 19th of July - I think it’s called Our Town 2 but thought it’s in your neck of the woods as such x
Aren't Postcrossing meet-up's fun. Unforturnately, York is quite far from where I am based, otherwise I would have joined. I recognise a couple of names from previous Postcrossing meet-up's in London. Sounds you had great day and lovely postcards.
