This has been going on since I was a kid and I’m in my 40’s now. It’s a part of NYC and always will be. But with the internet, you can find your own “middleman” or “agent” and buy your own goods. They are all based in China and use the same factories the name brands use. They will send you pictures of your product compared to the real thing and won’t sent it to you until you approve. Some of the products are better quality than the original. If you know, you know.
I tell you more. I saw those guys years ago on streets of Paris, London, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid.. You name it. But today’s economy seems to multiply the amount of illegal street vendors.
Dollar Tree sells counterfeit Keebler Fudge Stripe Cookies, Fake Kellog PopTarts and Walmart sell tons of generic Great Value knock off brands of foods ... Why is this so different ? Generic precription medications etc ...
I can give two shits about handbags and clothes but the one thing with counterfeit goods. When it comes perfumes/colognes, cosmetics, etc a lot of have been found to harmful chemicals and such like cadmium, arsenic, even horse urine.
