thanks! i learned this twice in highschool (2nd time relearned so i could learn it with polynomials), and now i wanna do it with binary numbers but forgot how to with base 10. i tried looking at wikipedia and was still confused, but your explanation is so simple.
although something pretty nice with binary numbers (same with multiplication), is the "how many times" is 1 or 0, doesn't require any multiplication, which definitely makes things much simpler :)

Why did you not minus the 3 from the 4 in the first subtraction step??

Because you can’t subtract 7 from 2, so she borrowed it from the 4 which means you end up with 7-12 = 5… and then your left with 3-3 which is 0

Honestly I dont understand how long division sums using 3 digits is even in the grade 6 curriculum its ridiculous to expect a 12 yr old to know how many times a 3 digit number goes into another. Makes me so angry
