Satellites that orbit within them receive the equivalent radiations to about 50 chest xrays each year. The astronauts purposely went through the thinner regions and did so at speed... the radiation exposure wasnt a concern at all. Later missions even went through the thickest part.

0:49 the lander you keep referring to is one of a two stage module. One stage keeps orbiting the moon which you called out as the 5th angle at 14:00. The actual lander is made to be as light as possible since it uses its detaching and ascent power to go up and not like a booster at earth- that's why it looks goofy. After it goes up it docks to the other module, and comes back to earth using a gas propellent. I'm just a kid that studies about airplanes- not rockets, and i rly love your content, but you really have to admire your country's achievement and be proud of it.

It is a proven established fact that NASA faked some of the imagery and audio due to PR to recieve more funding from the government and the people. Some of the photos you couldn't see anything they were rubbish there is many interviews out about this and the fake photos.. However just because some images are fake for T.V and newspapers does not mean the moon landing didnt happen. The moon landing did happen but only some of the Imagery is legit. They lied about some and lost credibility and now people think its all fake.

They quite literally have rocks and dirt from the moon that contain minerals not found on earth and when the space suits were examined it was found that the dirt was particularly more abrasive and caused way for damage to the suits than normal dirt would. Part of the reason they haven't gone back in awhile is because the suit technology isn't developed enough to handle the harsh environments. Space by itself is fine because there's nothing abrasive but currently no company has a contract for suits that can handle the environment on the moon. That's also part of the reason a moon colony doesn't exist. It would take a huge toll on equipment similar to how the mars rover is being damaged by its environment.

14:00 that footage is from the actual rocket, it was a three stage rocket as a whole. takes off on earth across the bottom, splitting the gap between europe and south america, rolls around the earths atmosphere once and shoots off with one timed burn towards the moon, the largest part of the rocket drops off into the indian ocean while its gaining momentum from the earth, the lander module and control unit make it to the moon with 14 seconds of fuel left when they touch down, the lander module is what actually lands while the control unit orbits the moon. michael collin’s is who stayed and had to endure 30 minutes of radio silence while he orbited the far side of the moon, cut off from his boys on the moon, and from houston. they ended up using the remaining 14 seconds of fuel to get back into orbit in line and on tie to match back up with the command module and use its fuel to burn back towards earth. the return trip to earth was quicker than the trip to the moon, more gravity working in the direction they’re headed sped them up tremendously, the only miracles that happened on the trip were them not getting eaten by radiation in the belts, and the rocket not burning up on rentery; bonus, neil dodging a 90 foot crater and hand steering the lander to a better, flatter area.

Modern digital cameras, especially consumer level cameras, are only just ... barely.... starting to scratch at the level of film cameras. When I was first getting in photography a couple decades ago, the digital cameras started to take over to my great annoyance. It's taken decades to get back to the level of quality that we were already at.
Also, there was a lander and an orbiter. Neil and Buzz went down to the surface in the Eagle Lander and Michael Collins stayed by himself, for days, in the Command and Service Module (CSM) (when he was orbiting to the far side of the Moon, he was the remotest and loneliest human being in all of History, it must have been quite a weird feeling). Brady didn't prep enough for this film. There are some amazing documentaries on the NASA Moon Landing Era... those guys exemplified everything great about the Western World and America! They absolutely had the 'Right Stuff' and if they were all young men today, I've got no doubt that they would be the exact kinda guys that would come on WhistlinDiesel to wreck some stuff, coz the first batch of Astronauts were all salt of the earth, corn fed cowboy types, and all speed demon crazy test pilots and the absolute top of their game. Those guys were the greatest of an already pretty awesome generation.
Don't forget that several crew burned alive while testing inside their Apollo 1 capsule in a 100% oxygen environment, so RIP Apollo 1 astronauts Virgil “Gus” Grissom, Ed White, and Roger B. Chaffee. Also, don't forget that Apollo 13 never made it to the Moon and they all barely made it back alive. They had to do some serious redneck bodge repairs etc just to stay alive. It's a testament to the incredible skill, dedication, encyclopaedic knowledge and engineering brilliance of the people at NASA that got them back to Earth. It's amazing that the Apollo rockets could lift of at all considering the *_giant titanium balls_* of the Apollo crews.

    • @dickard8275

A big reason we havent gone back is we dont accept that level of risk to human life anymore. Testing is far more stringent and expensive. If the public of the US dont even want to fund a war against democracy in Europe why would they pay trillions to go to the moon to get data we already have?
