@@mayankgupta2543 This comment is 3 years old xd. Bonus tip sometimes when you do pendulum and go up and side ways you could try to pull the racket towards yourself during the contact, not just side and up, but also backwards towards you.
@@bgmaster8557 yeah I have done that it works I keep it short and slow , opponent usually tries play early with block/push. But ball flies out of the table but sometimes it touches the edge of the table too and its unlucky when happens at game point:p
Craig Bryant also does a very effective kicker serve, the difference between his and the one in the video is that he serves the same as Par Gerell which makes it very hard to read
Funny how this was exactly how I used to serve. Did not know it had a specific name😅 thought it was something I was improvising because I had to throw up the ball🤣
I good strategy is stick to short serves so your opponent gets close to the table and then use a long kicker that bounces near to the baseline, that way the opponent won't have enough space to counter it. I do that to win 2 or 3 points per set.
@@pingskills on the backhand I'm using the RASANTER R37 and on the forehand I'm using the SKYLINE T.G. When you're going to change rubbers, are you gonna change to exact same thing or experiment with a different kind of rubber?
@@jasper8368 Really depends on you. If you like what you have then stick with it, otherwise it's fine to experiment a bit too. At some stage though it's good to have some consistency.
Yes, that is why it needs to be used as a surprise tactic. It can be really effective if the player is always standing close to the table to try and receive your short serves.
Yeah, it usually has some topspin so one option is to simply block the ball back on the table. If you do this be sure to place it well so it is hard for your opponent to attack you. Once you can do this regularly you can start to think about attacking the serve some more but to start with just work on placing it back on the table to a difficult position. Good luck!
I remember I struggled against a penholder's kicker serve because I thought it was an ordinary topspin serve but it kicked off so fast it went past me even though I'm in position to attack.
Sometimes it might be worth just trying to block these serves back if you are having trouble. Try to place it well and you may still gain an advantage in the rally.
The serve is great. I've already made a few points with it. It is best to serve near the baseline and when you hit the ball at net level.
Great tips.
I use it rather in the middle of the table to mess up the opponent's timing and often they hit with the edge of the racket
@@bgmaster8557yeah this happens

haha, it's great that you taught yourself. I think sometimes it's best when you discover things for yourself.
I've seen a few kicker serves that are slow in the first bounce but they suddenly speed up in the second bounce. How does one do that?
It is really an illusion. I think if you are expecting a backspin serve then a serve with topspin seems to kick, hence the name.

Thanks! Gonna see if i can try that too 😊
Good luck. Let us know if it works for you.
@@pingskills I will! :-)
Some people can return it, some can't. Know your opponent and use the kicker serve wisely.
Good advice.
@@pingskills no it’s not tf?
Could you do a tutorial on how to twiddle in table tennis for smashing high balls please?
is the stag 1 star good for an absolute beginner?
Could anyone pls recommend a good racket?
There are so many good options. Take a look at this for some more advice - www.pingskills.com/tutorials/choosing-equipment/choosing-a-table-tennis-bat
Good!
I do a reverse pendulum serve but fast. It’s good for faking out your opponent.
That serve can be done with a pendulum fast serve with some topspin right?
Yes.
@@pingskills oh and I changed my rubbers yesterday. The table tennis shop has literally anything! Love it

Serve can be good but in high level plays if your right handed its to the forehand and you can easily attack it

My coach taught me to do the kicker serve from white corner to corner
Sounds like it will be an effective serve. Keep practicing :)
@@pingskills Thanks so much! But unfortunately we have a lockdown in India so no classes😭
@@mukundmetta5113 Yeah, it's the same here in Victoria, Australia. However you can still practice your serve at home even without a table.

This is really just an abbreviated reverse pendulum serve
I used this serve 100 times but they still couldn’t get it
