The context is that Dana was asked about Francis' mindset going into the first Stipe fight. Dana said that Francis left for France during the week of the fight, arriving back in the US with only days to spare. Only an ego-crazed fool would be so flippant in his fight prep. He was in poor condition and had no answers for Stipe's takedowns or boxing.

Iirc, Ngannou tried multiple times to escape his home country on a makeshift raft. During some of these attempts, others who were with him drowned. He went from doing hard times as a mine labourer, getting his strength via countless pushups to where he is today.
