    Hi Aaron. It was my pleasure. Taka Sensei is just an amazing guy, and I am really happy to share him and what he does with everyone in the martial arts community. Thanks for checking it out!

    MIND BLOWN. I lived in Chico, CA for nearly a decade and saw this school without ever knowing the full history behind it! Better late than never -- thanks, Chuck!

    Wow... thanks so much for your praise. I'm honored that you want to share my content with your students. I hear from a fair number of other martial artists, but it's truly a blessing to receive praise from other teachers. I have done a bit of Wing Chun and Yang-style Taichi but that is as far as my experience with Chinese martial arts goes. Hope to hear more about them from you! ;)

    I trained and worked with Taka for years back in Chico. I am honored to have received my belt from him! Thank you for putting this video together. It's fun to get a glimpse into the other dojos in Japan. I miss my time with Taka and Seishindo!

    Great video.. I've never done any weapons training..loved the wide range of ages among the students and their hands are really quick, I've noticed. Thanks.

    Thanks bro... Yeah, this dojo gave me my first introductions to weapons play. (Aside from a bit of Police Baton training I got when I was working as a bodyguard, and Theatrical Katana Swordplay for film). Still working on the staff... moving on to Nunchaku after this one!

    Thanks man. Im really glad you like them. Training in Japan (or at least Tokyo) is cool because there is sooooo much in terms of martial arts, and because of it, most of it is really cheap compared to the states. There are world and national champions in everything!). On the other side of the coin though, as a teacher, it can be challenging because there is sooo much competition. If you ever get a chance, sure, please come out! I'd love to show ya around! Tokyo is amazing!

    Hello Sir I like your integrity and your honesty. I'm a Sifu of Chinese Martial Arts. I have great respect for other systems and styles. I expose my students to different things if they are Real or make since. You seem to have them all. You will be one of my people my students will know about. Thank you for sharing.

    Just keeping it real bro. ;) Life is all about turning strengths into weaknesses. When you get a chance, look up some "super foot" vids. He was before my generation, but he's still considered to be one of the greatest martial arts legends of all time.

      Glad you think so! It's a small dojo, but it has a great feel to it. :)

    Will do! You too bro! Actually, I think you are right though... there should be a training system for fighting with a pool cue... seeing as how they are weighted at one end, you can't exactly handle them the way you would a staff. That and they break easier... maybe a great stabbing tool as well! lol. I would love to see that!

    Yeah, there's a lot to do here once ya know where to look :) Saw the vid of you at the Shinjuku sports center. Im there a lot myself! Im surprised Ive never seen ya! ;)

    Hey Sam. Of course, I think you should continue training. :) Do you know who Bill Superfoot Wallace is? He is a world Karate champion who can only kick with his left leg. He used to be a Judo guy, but he destroyed one of his knees, so he couldn't do Judo anymore... and crazily enough, he got into Karate instead. Since he couldn't kick with his right leg, he just trained triple hard on his left, and then went on to be a World Champion many times over. :)

    No, not really. It mainly consists of forms training. Yeah, Seishindo is a really unique style. There are only a few schools of it around the world. (As I guess you saw in the vid).

    yeah, right?! lol. That's just the training staff. For the other members, (who are a bit shorter) its not so much of a problem, but at my size, it's just way too damn small ;) Feels like Im trying to learn to fight with a pencil. lol

    It's my first time hearing of Seishindo Karate, is there any full contact sparring like Kyokushin ?

    Great video! Is it true that when some westerners barge in with video cameras that many martial arts masters pretend to be terrible just get them out of the dojo lol?

    • @ChuckJohnson
      @ChuckJohnson  10 лет назад

      Absolutely, it is. Ive even seen a lot of the master I've trained out here do it. I made a video called "BS in the martial arts?" about it, and I discuss it at length that vid. Check it out if ya can.
