Thank you for the explanations of the sounds. Just mentioning that it is קָמַץ, there is a patach under the Mem.
Why stick with the more confusing rule when both are acceptable. It seems an unnecessary stumbling block. I came here curious to see how it is being taught. I am a Hebrew speaker, but I am searching for simplest ways to teach my nechda Ivrit. So, I ask humbly, why the more confusing way with those new to Hebrew? Shalom!
I do agree with you as a Hebrew teacher. This case makes reading even more difficult because it's already difficult to read Hebrew for learners as it is. Shalom
Besides, why do we not read the second word as "homorim" but as "homarim"?

Ben, I learned from school that if there is just 1 man in a group of people then you must address it as to a group of men. Not the majority of women decide what we must say. Thanks 🙏 !
Hi Johnny.
Technically you are right.
The masculine form in Hebrew is also the abstract form. We can also use it to address women in some cases. We can't do the opposite though.
Why do people "ignore" the Hebrew language rules? Since times are changing and languages evolve beyond the technical definitions and rules to fit the needs of the people who use the language. Some people choose different ways to express themselves and their values.

Have a Yom Tov!
@@HebrewWithBen Yeah, I think that’s the influence of the feminism. When I asked how to address a transgender person my teacher couldn’t give me an answer tough.
