This was a really great episode. Especially enjoyed the more casual aspects later on in the show. Worrying about random tangents and getting off topic is something I believe y’all mentioned as a reason to release edited versions of the pod, but it’s really entertaining and even relaxing. We may have found y’all through basketball but we’re here for you.
A former G league player was in my local men’s league. I got him to bite on a pump fake and scored , he was nice about it and let me have my moment. He proceeded to score 50 without breaking a sweat or shooting a three
3:00 @Rusty, the Vegas Golden Knights? Those fans are super pumped and rowdy. The reason the nba cup game wasn't rocking was because neither of those teams were vegas teams. I think your bias about Vegas is clouding your judgment. There are alot of people who live in vegas and are from the area. You're thinking about the strip and tourist areas.
1:00:30 As a bi man, like Rusty, I have some qualifications to speak on it, but I might be weird because I could take or leave "parental" qualities in a partner since I don't plan on having kids. Also preferring partners with traditionally feminine qualities, whether they be male or female, probably messes with that a bit
hey so i’m a lesbian and my girlfriend is too and she definitely leans more towards looking for her dad’s qualities. she prefers masc lesbians (which i am) but definitely doesn’t like men. her parents have a really wonderful marriage and she sees herself as a lot like her mom so i think that’s part of why she finds comfort in qualities of her dad in a romantic relationship, because she knows that those qualities work well together. i don’t relate to either of my parents much and they’re divorced, so i really look for things that are very opposite of both my mom and my dad. as a lesbian i think it’s more about your relationship to your parents and their relationship to each other and which parent you relate to most. also your goals for your adult life. so if you’re like your dad and he’s happily married to your mom, you’d be inclined to the same characteristics that made her such a good fit to him because you and him are similar, as vice versa. also if having kids is important to you and you think your dad was a good parent you’d look for his qualities in a partner if you think that partner will one day parent your children. might be different for gay guys but that’s just how my girlfriend and i see the whole freud conversation :)
35:00 I remember seeing a BBALLBREAKDOWN video on this, Conley was NOT good on the right handed floaters, especially off one foot, it's as mythical as John Wall's mid range shot
It honestly depends on how willing the fans are to watch the nba. There is a lot of competition in Vegas already for fan attention and I’m worried that if the team isn’t very good they won’t be able to attract a dedicated fan base
Every single time someone mentions the MLB rule (whichever West or East team wins the All-Star game, that conference gets home advantage in the Finals), they just say it’s a bad idea and don’t go into detail on why. Could someone PLEASE explain why that doesn’t work because in my head it sounds like a good incentive to make the All-Star game at least marginally more competitive. What negative repercussion would that have on the Finals? I’m very open to having my mind changed on the matter.
Imagine Cade Cunningham, a player who will not be in the NBA Finals this season but could very easily be an All-Star, goes berserk and drops 50 and hits a game winner in the AS game to give the East home court for the Finals. A player who has nothing to do with that series being played being a direct consequence of a severe competitive advantage always pissed people off more than it ever made people think it was a fair idea. A team could go 82-0, but because the opposing conference won the All-Star game, they’re now at a disadvantage in the Finals. That is not fair and it is not a good rule.
I think shaq has an underratedly soft touch in his prime. Great post up dunk threat meant he had little jump hooks and touch shots whenever he wasn’t doubled
Robin Lopez deserves to be in this conversation along with his brother. An odd amount of brothers in this conversation. (While we’re here I’ll mention Milsap and hortford as well)
Kill 2 birds 1 First: remove the all-star game, No one likes it and the players dont respect it. Then replace the allstar accolade with mid-season awards (all nba style) which contracts will get tied to (bonuses) making the players play harder. Nba makes an minimum game requiremnet for these awards. Second: move the in-season tourny up to reflect the middle of the season while also increasing the amount of games played for it. Use the money that the nba would waste on allstar weekend to improve the prizepool for the cup. The in-season tournament will then award the mvp and defensive player to respective players for their performances in the tourny.
someone find me the alex and rusty 1v1 video
I second this

I love it when everyone forgets they are doing a nba podcast. Always entertaining
It may be just me, but I love it when they don't ;P
Pls make these once a week 🙏🙏
Indeed!! 😊
Justice for Lamar Gasoldridge
The nick 12-year old story was amazing
Thank god we have Nick here to make sure both of my basketball podcasts are not really about basketball lol
That story with the 12 year olds was hilarious.
If you do an end of year clips show make sure to include the story of Nick being bullied a child on court

The last 25 min of this is truly all timer for shoot around lmfao holy shit
Great to have you back, Rusty.
SGA does pick and choose when the off the dribble 3 looks nice to him and it holds him back so much
This dude constantly finds himself in jail dribbling past the open 3 and then 30% of the time the pass bails him out. He needs to take them.
This is where Luka is miles above SGA. And as dumb as it is it makes him so much more valuable as an offensive player.
This episode had me rolling bro😂

I’m the 100th viewer on the last postcast of 2024??? If it comes with a prize, all i want….is rusty to make an apology video to Jeremy Sochan 😏😂
5v5 full court is always the best ‼️
in school it was because we guarded everybody like they could shoot from anywhere on the court
my glorious nick would've turned that kid into jaylen brown if he contested the shot
Idk if Im tripping but i dont think this was posted on spotify

Alex is taller than rusty?
Doing this for the algorithm!!!!!
Alex hoops is like one of those nice Mormons who acts like he won’t beat you 1v1 but then creams you
early nonsense rants is why i watch this podcast.
Nicks comment about the woman president bad dream has me crying.

Crazy not mentioned in the softest touch big conversation (Marc and pau gasol)

First! Happy holidays! 🎉❤
I Like how it was a matter of time until these guys do the all white male podcast thing and talk about womens rights lol
