- Here’s a challenge that I procrastinated on heavily for a long time. The Monster Hunter Stories Nuzlocke Challenge. This is a challenge that I streamed over on Twitch several months back and haven’t edited the video since. But I managed to make this without it being tedious or boring. So without further or do, enjoy!
Rules:
1. You can only get 1 egg from a common den and 1 egg from a rare den in each area. Also any gift egg you receive counts as your encounter for the area you received it in (The Velocidrome you get at the beginning of the game for example)
2. When a Monstie faints, It is considered dead and must only be used for expeditions, mandatory obstacles, or for gene splicing
3. You are allowed to skip an area and come back to it later for unlocked monster eggs
4. Ratha (Not normal Rathalos) cannot be used for combat unless it’s mandatory
5. You must Nickname your monsties
6. If you get the same monstie you got before, you have a chance to go to the same type of den you got it from to get a different egg

I got a way better rathalos than ratha and its easy to get actually

Kinda like how knowledge of the monster hunter games can also help with stories. Knowing what monsters are weak to, what items are useful against them, and to a lesser extent. Knowing the monster in the main games can help you sorta guess what attacks they might use (speed, power, tech.)
Your monstie can't be killed in a winning head to head. If the damage dealt to your monstie would exceed its health, it always ends up with 1 HP. Status like burn or poison would kill it though.
Correct. You also cannot be affected by anything like poison, paralysis, sleep, or bleed while riding. If you ride while your monstie is afflicted, then it will get rid of the effect. It even negates stuff like sand shroud from a sand barroth. I know waaaay too much about this game lmao. I got monster hunter world and as soon as i saw barroth in ice age addon i was like “so we meet again. You are a fool to have tried to face me. I know all of your weaknesses”
@@The_Glitterborne Barroth, not Barioth? It's still confusing to this one that Barroth shows up mainly in the ice area in stories 2
@@The_Glitterborne not only that, but you can't be killed when in Ride On, at worst your monstie will be reduced to 1HP and you'll be knocked off
Yeah, doesn't seem like this guy knows much about the game, I didn't even see him combo ONCE throughout the entire video.

@@_pabu_ yes, but it released on 3ds. Stories 2 has better graphics and, I'm guessing, more content, it'll also release on switch and pc

This game is very good. There are some end game monsties that i love like seregios and monoblos, however i love fighting monoblos more than hatching one
It's so strange. It's like you *have* to name your Diablos "normal" names. I named mine Franklin and my other Timothy, and you named yours George. Good to know it isn't just me.
I named mine Sera after the Triceratops from The Land Before Time.

Looking back on it this game was pretty brutal, imagine thinking your just fighting a funny bird and then a blighted rathian shows up and you’re expected to just kill them on your own, i remember potions being pretty expensive, and I think the urugaan fight took me like a week to beat at first

You know that the eggs aren't random right ? Each monster has his own pattern you find all of em on the wiki it would've helped to know what the egg is before taking it out of the den

Yes and that's why this is a randomizer, he just takes the first egg he gets from each den that he is allowed to raid. You also have a limited number of egg pulls per den anyway.
I thought he just grabbed the first one. That would make more sense since it's a nuzlocke. He could have also paintball'd the first large monster he see's in the open world for a bigger challenge
I noticed that almost every one that is making Monster Hunter Stories videos is using the emulated version instead of the 3ds version. I think I remember like one or two people do videos of the 3ds version.
The mobile version has better graphics, so it makes sense that most content creators would use it. I prefer my 3DS version for having actual button controls though :D
I also prefer the 3ds version.
Mobile version has HD graphics and 60 fps so it's the best way to play.

I lost my 3ds and i was a god on my acc so i was excited to see a mobile version. The events are all easy now, as opposed to the button mash of the 3ds version
MHS Nuzlocke is something I didn't know I needed

First time watching a nuzlocke in mhs & i must say I love the name meatshield it's quite ingenious I don't know why I didn't do that for the aptonoth. Also I named my popo popeye. Edit:my main early game was a r.khezu called red riot late game it was a s.zinogre called dark death (name sucks I know.)
Never knew you could down an enemy that is underground or using a stealth move, none the less while its a main boss
Never thought I'd imagine where you can make Stories be turned into a Nuzlocke but hey. I like the rules of what I'm seeing. Got some good picks near the end especially with Stygian Zinogre. Can't believe you made Arzuros be quite the big helper in the early segments but hey, never underestimate a bear in Stories.
I remember playing the Demo for this game and absolutely loving it! I'm going to set a challenge for myself. I'll get to the highest level that I can on a Yhan-Kut-Ku in the Demo before the Demo for MH Stories 2 Demo comes to the Switch

@@helltaker6865 yep, stories released at a good time, when generations was in the rundown, mhw wasnt even announced yet and it wasnt even at a major press conference. it was received well. Compared to Diablo: immortal which was hyped at a major press conference after years of silence in the franchise only to be met with "you guys don't have phones?".
@@Fox_Olive Well received? Maybe critically, but financially not so much. Hopefully with the increase marketing Stories 2 will sell better.
I'm sad you didn't have a section showing a list of all the monsters you got and how they were killed or what level they were at by the end, other than that, congrats
hopefully Mohun stories 3 will have a way to deal with Counter and multi attacks per round

It shouldn't matter if you lose all your HP when you're mounting, as it doesn't faint your monstie but just leave it on 1HP, so you can tank an otherwise killing blow _and_ heal your monstie after.
Doing the kinship attack is actually worse, since your monstie could recieve a killing blow and just faint in that case.
I'll def replay MHS live, before MHS2 comes out!

me enjoying playing this game for an hour daily and at some point I saw this speed run video hayssss. good time though
I remember how overpowered Qurupeco was for healing and buffs for the main story and being a good tech option for this first game anyway

Ratha was my second most piwerful monstie at makili pietru was actually my silver rathalos but ratha almost killed me even with my silver rath
Edit: I got my silver rath from the event silver rath quest
You dont get silver rath until you beat the final boss wich unlocks the highrank quest and then you can get silver rath
Unlike in Stories 2, the monsters in Stories 1 actually have common sense. Like, say, if you kept winning the match-up, they would switch up their strategy. Like the Nerscylla using a power attack every now and then.
The changes may be easy to predict, but they add a little more challenge.

What emulator did you use? Im trying to play this on BlueStacks but it freezes when i load my backup from my phone (awesome job with the nuzlock)
For a hard mode lose a monstie everything you get killed as well.

Khezu may be one of the ugliest monsters, but this one still wishes they'd bring back Giggi/Gigginox and other Tri-exclusives(Stories could use more swimmers anyway)
