Hi Daniel, another great video of yours. I just wanted to comment, that instead of a major scale with b3 I prefer to look at the melodic minor as dorian nat. 7. Looking at it this way, the modes of the melodic minor are as follows: I. Dorian nat. 7 (or #7 for consistency) II. Phrygian #6 III. Lydian #5 IV. Mixolydian #4 V. Aeolian #3 VI. Locrian #2 VII. Ionian #1 To me, this system is easier to remember. But that's just me.
thanks, your explanations and examples make it so clear and comprehensible instead of this abstract, exotic kind of confusion to the mind, well, my mind at least. this is a great way of thinking about the scale. kudos...+++
Thank You for being here William :-) and of course, So happy to help you, thats what we guitar friends do for one another. stay in touch and check out weissguitar.com for some more cool stuff
Thank you sooooo much - again!!! I tune E A D G C F and play with left hand "from above most of the time, resembles a little of Rory Hofmans technique.
@@WeissGuitar Try the best I can!!! There is soo much to do - violin and piano is also important - build my own keyboards. They are different - neutral - 100% cromatic - not C-major,white keys and E-flat pentatonic as a regular keyboard. - (Couldn resist answer).
I know those well...in fact I can't seem to get out of the minor loop...I was into Al DeMeola to much way back....lol...same with the major's...was into Eric Johnson...great vid!
This theory is very impressive but when you have so much technical data floating in your head when do have time to just make Music ? I think too much intellectualism is is the enemy of creating passionate art that comes from the soul ! I love all the great technicians like Holdsworth, Matteo Mancuso, Joshua Meader, Guthrie Govan, Wayne Krantz, Frank Gambale and the list is endless but I LOVE Eric Gale's and Joe Bonamassa's passion and ferocity.. I love it all ... but sometimes I just wanna make music... there's countless RUclips guitarists that have mind boggling knowledge and technique but I notice that most of them are "sidemen" who make a good living doing session work for other artists and creators ... but their own compositions usually lacks that passionate spark ... I know we need the technical intellectual side but I lean more on the passionate creativity side that just feels good !!! The guitarists I named are the exceptions.. - fo sho 😊
@@WeissGuitar Love your music.. I git it...Never questioned your technical facility .. Your music sounds like it's made to impress other musicians who can appreciate and comprehend what you and your band are doing ... which is cool ... I love it ... But I'd like to hear what comes straight from tha heart..something that transcends and goes beyond intellectual exercise... sometimes that can be done with just a few notes ... Good Stuff .. I'll purchase it 😊
@g-love6507 - Before passing judgment, understand that the RUclipsr you commented on, Daniel Weiss is deeply entrenched in a multitude of musical projects. From his own albums to collaborations and with his band Square to Check, he's not merely a theory wizard but someone who channels that knowledge into creating diverse and soulful music. If you want a real grasp of his rich and passionate creativity, take a moment to explore his broader musical portfolio. Keep that love for music alive! and leave your need to be judgmental to some other field 🎸🎶
@@mr.jazzman6751 Yeah.. Daniel is a bad boy, I already know.. My overall point is the best music that stands the test of time and resonates with people at the deepest level comes from the heart not the head ! I'm well aware of numerous guitar players who have technical skills that are off the scale that have photographic memories with instant recall of every aspect of music theory... but in a dog fight I roll with the Jimi Hendrix's(Machine Gun is transcendent), Joe Bonamassa, Eric Gales, Stevie Ray, George Benson and really any musician that does not obsess over music theory.. More often than not the theory guys aren't the best artists , they're usually great sidemen but oft times their original compositions aren't ground breaking.. Instead of music they can be too focused on showing off their technical facility ... It's the "beauty of simplicity" .. never too pretentious .. Daniel is an exception to my observed rule .. He's exceptional- but for every Daniel- you have countless theory guys that can play a million notes per minute- but after listening to them for 5 or 10 minutes I'm bored !! I know the value of theory but the great ones like Miles Davis would say "now throw all that sh*t away and just play 😂! We agree to disagree !

glad you enjoyed! this color is so special! like a parallel universe!
Genius. How to use it? And what chords will fit on it?
how to do the 7 positions?thanks
Never understand why all finger scales the hard way. There is the 2 finger lateral, and caged, skipped.
Thanks for tuning in
The challenge is to learn them in 🤣all positions..CAGED IS IMPOSSIBLE
