Madoff, Stratton Oakmont, James Paul Lewis, Bre-X Minerals, Bayou Hedge Fund, Quest Communications, ZZZZ Best Inc, Enron and even Olint and Cash Plus, although they were different to some extent. Let me know if you got back your money as I stand to be corrected. Being a public figure is a differentiator, which is why I am hopeful in this case but still not optimistic. No one deserves this and I hope those who are guilty are held to account but in the meantime, let's do our best to ensure we protect ourselves. OMG, if the reasons given why Usain will not get back his money means he WAS SCAMMED and those scammers must spend a minimum of 50 years imprisonment, assets seized. No one should be allowed to steal anyone's hard earned money and get away with it and to make matters worse a national/international sports icon. Usain Bolt is brand name............., the world is watching to see how the story ends and if Usain suffers a loss beyond return Jamaica's economy is going to suffer as both foreign and local investors are going to withdraw their hard earned and bank/invest their hard earned overseas. Many have already lost confidence in the banking/financial institutions in Jamaica which will as you said result in no justice for Usain. This is a very sad story for all those who lost their money and especially Jamaica's national sports icon Usain Bolt who have done so much and continues to do so much for Jamaica.

Great general advice Odetta. But in Bolt’s case, he didn’t invest in SSL. He “invested” in blue chip stocks, which he thought was being properly managed by Ms Panton. She simply stole his money. The concern most people now have is whether other money managers are doing the same at other investment houses in Jamaica? The former Dehring, Bunting & Golding did the same thing to my parents in the 90s. They lied to us that their money was invested when they whole time they stole my parents money. They sent us fake statements similar to what SSL did to Bolt. Since then, I vowed never to trust ANY investment house in JA again. If JA wants to restore investor confidence, something needs to be done to weed out these crooks from the industry who are giving JA a bad name. 😒
Did anyone go to prison? There needs to be better financial oversights of the Jamaican investment systems. You can’t just simply steal someone’s money and walk away scotch free. This is bs

I like to keep it real, in my years I have never known anyone who has gained significant life changing wealth using an advisor , high level individuals or the common man. Without doubt your advice is fantastic about diversification and the amounts and sectors. If we investigate the true history of money and the fact every economy that has been before has failed…….the only thing I would disagree with you is to never trust anyone to make your financial decisions, learn everything to remove fear of the unknown. It might take time but you will never have to rely on someone else. I doubt very much that any of the self made multi millionaires invested in any company or organisation without undertaking fundamental analysis, ensuring logic always prevails otherwise it’s emotional …..you’re hoping someone else will make the right decision for you! It really depends if one desires financial freedom
