I'm a former fisherman from Buras, La and a singer/songwriter of sorts, and I have to say this song broke me down in tears...I spent my childhood and 30+ years fishing, trawling, working on oyster boats, and in the oil field, and this song is spot on for how people from the Gulf Coast feel...
I'd love to see this song released on itunes as a download. Awesome song and as a native Cajun (I'm a Doucet born & raised around Lafayette), this whole debacle is heart-wrenching to watch
Incredible song Drew. I hope this song is heard by many. We hear how people are affected by this disaster... but your song really gives us the emotion behind it. Thanks for posting and sharing with us. Again, I hope many ears hear your song.
Great soul singing here and the guitar fits right in ! Way to go ! Impressed ! This SHOULD be played in every (folk and crossover)radio station all over the us.
This song really hit home! My husband works offshore and with this spill his work has slowed down tremendously! I agree with desidoucet, please release on itunes so we can buy it!
wow... brings a tear to the eye. thanks for finding the words we all need to hear... let's all pray those that need to listen are. thoughts, prayers, love and hugs to all those affected.
Still sharing this song after 11 years. As the saying goes, "It ain't over 'til it's over. " it still "ain't over", honestly I don't think it will be in our lifetime. We lost people who we loved and that's never over. Thanks so much Drew for giving us so much truth 💜🦋💜
Drew, we love your music and video. Thank you for speaking up for the Gulf Coast. Your song at the President's Commission was amazing. 800,000 fans on Boycott BP page on Facebook say thank you!
If I had the time, footage, and skills I'd put this song to news videos and footage of the disaster and spread it all over the Internet. Someone needs to do this.
They say there's a silver lining behind every tragedy. I would have to say this is a fine example of this. Great song. Definitely touched me and I hope it will inspire others to help. Keep it up brotha and God bless!
Hola! Found this on Twitter of BPGlobalPR. Here in London England we are bringing to justice an other company at the moment who dumped some junk in the Cote D'Ivoir. I am hoping soon to rebroadcast a piano version soon from London. Ben
your song, sad as it is, soothes my raggedy soul as I cant shake images of oil gushing at a rate that leaves me... well leaves me nodding my head, like I really can comprehend the magnitude, but I can't nor can I even begin to wrap my head around the politics and billions of dollars spent on craziness. Peace to us all, lots of work ahead.
This is a great video and song....Thank you for sharing...I agree..they need to get that well capped, stop making excuses and get the damn job done...!!! God Bless you my friend...!!!
great video. good sound. great writing. good shooting. Nothing gets in the way of the song. As far as the message goes, I've already cried too much. I don't need to say anything else..
great song!! So sad but so true!! FACT IS the great Commercial Fishermen of the coast DON'T WANT BP'S MONEY, A LAWSUIT, A HANDOUT..... THEY JUST WANNA WORK, THEY WANT THEIR LIVELIHOODS, THEIR LIVES!! -NICOLE VENICE, LA
great song! if you guys still want to fish you are always more than welcome up here in Alaska; just be sure to start up some cajun restaurants if you decided to make the move. =] god bless and good luck!
little brother he aint feeling well... what you spraying on that oil spill? ... where is the line? i love the new lines... Jesus can't save their souls... you are right... and you are right about that spraying... please dont go silent on it... we beg you. Love your music... love your heart...
There has been some talk of a temporal marker in the near future of some such technologies of a predictive nature dealing with internet chatter and human linguistics. this measurable tone was supposed to appear around the time and then gaining population in the visibility level with in "joe" public. It seems that it could be entirely possible that this song could be that temporal marker in that this oil disaster which the talented singer/artist/song writer, so poetically performs.
I wonder how I get in touch with Drew. I'm from Kinder in Southwest Louisiana. I'd love to jam with him and maybe play some shows with him here in this part of Louisiana.
@rcazes You better take BP's money, because they took your way of life. As for solar and wind, those things work. I have 8kw PV solar array on my house and my electric bill averages under $40 a month, used to be $300. We could eliminate the need for deep water drilling by switching to natural gas (drilled above ground) until more wind, solar and nuke comes online.
Man, this is a great, simple, poignant song. I hope it goes viral so folks can understand what's happening to your community - and you can have another way to make a living until this shit gets cleaned up.
i was surprised to find that nobody had transcribed the lyrics so i went ahead and did it (or at least tried too... couldn't quite decipher everything) check it out through the link on my user page (b/c stupid RUclips won't let me post a link) enjoy! :)
I was thinking off taking a part of this song and adding it to a vid I'm working on with Rev. 17 the bride of anti christ G20. please tell me if it's cool. Love Scott (BUG) congrades on 10,000 views. hehehe
I don't think anyone wants to see the end of off shore, just deep water. In time maybe you guys will be building turbines instead of rigs out there. Think the energy that could be generated from one hurricane alone - it won't kill the fish and has the potential to generate more energy in hurricane season long term than any of those rigs have.
@Foodieholic Alternative fuel is a good idea, but lets be realistic, that is years away!! If it were not for the hypocritical people who do not want us to drill for safer deposits of oil this would not be nearly as bad. Every person reading this comment can touch something within arms reach that was produced from oil. We need to build nuclear power plants...wind mills and solar power are a waste of time!! All we want is our way of life back...not BP's money!!
