Use to live in Gold Beach back in the late 80s havent been back since. This sure brings back a lot of memories driving up and down the coast to Coos bay and Bandon for appts and ball games. Gods country.
Most everyone misses all the best stuff between Brookings to Port Orford but that is exactly why I live here in Gold Beach, I can go to those spots and most of the time have them all to myself!! 😁😁😁
This has been a beautiful ride with you. I've never seen the West Coast ever. The campground for $17.00 a night with water, showers, a nice cozy spot that feels like your tucked in a little, this place Is amazing! It just yells - rest here. It is truely a beautiful place. Thank you Russ!
You got my curiosity working and since I've never done that kind of fishing before I wondered what kind of fish they are after. Seems in Oregon they are fishing mostly for sunperch. Lots of rules with this type of fishing too. Sounds like fun.
I was smoking a Zen vape cartridge watching your video when you stopped for a Zen moment. 😂 Too funny 😂 Amazing views in your last few videos. Very nice 👍🏼
Hey Russ, I have been meaning to thank you for this series of videos. I know it is a lot of work to put out a high quality video of this length on a daily basis. I appreciate it and I am sure others do too. Thanks for taking us along and sharing it with us!
Been to the top of Humbug 3 or 4 times.. If you have the gumption to hike the 3 miles to the top, a meadow with the best view of the Pacific awaits you! ;-)
Looks like a nice quiet place to stop and rest. I wish you had walked that 8 miles and showed us you pretty the scenery was on top of that mountain. :-) Happy trails.
Hey Russ....I have been watching your channel, and many others on this topic and I must say that I enjoy yours the most. As a child I grew up in Blythe and spent countless hours off-roading in Ehrenberg and Quartzsite. It has been very nostalgic for me, thank you brother. Currently I am in Helena for work. It’s very beautiful here.
Hi! Russ; There is a $10.00 a night dry camp at Port Orford. It's on the beach side of 101, overlooking their commercial fishing pier. As your coming into Port Orford turn left at The Crazy Norwegians fish and Chip located at Jackson Ave. Go up the hill. When you get to the top of the street turn right and drive a few feet and it will be on your left. It's on the honor system.
Geez Russ!! You're killing it on the "BEST" travel vids on RUclips!! Wish South Carolina wasn't sooooo far away. The only thing you need to do is sell solar cooked hotdogs at the pulloffs and pay for your gas!! We can hear you laughing now.
I camped at Humbug about 4 years ago but it was later in the season. First time I had seen tsunami warnings in the restroom! I agree, Oregon has the best state parks anywhere!
What a wonderful drive and that campground is so nice! I would love to walk out to the beach and just sit and watch the waves. Thank you for another great video! Safe travels!
$17 bucks a night for a campsite there is a steal Russ. Easy access back to the 101 hwy, and right at the beach is a bonus too. Will definitely pull in next time 👊😎...
Morning Russ! I'd be tired too. You're putting a lot of work and time into these videos for us. Thanks! I appreciate your efforts! ! Really enjoying this trip. Certainly wish I could say it's cool here. Yuk. Don't like heat and humidity. That's beautiful country! 👍😀
I think you would be wasting your time trying to pan for gold there. Oregon was never really a part of the Gold Rush. Except for a small part in Southern Oregon near California. Better to do that in California.
Tatiacha Very good point, but from 1850 to 1890 the town was called Ellensburg. So the name Gold Beach, was applied much latter. Supposedly because a few early settlers had found a few gold nuggets on the beach. Which is entirely possible. There was some gold mining activity in Southern Oregon. I just don't think it was ever a big thing there. What little there was, was gone in a few years.
Now that is an area I would love. The sound of the ocean. The green, blue, cool wind 🌬 love it
Thank you

Hi Russ, What a beautiful video!! Thanks for sharing, Lo :)
Pretty state park. Thanks for showing it.
Does the state park sale fishing license?
Cool vid Russ, you should get you a bicycle, so you don't have to walk so much, is your van insulated? thanks bro.
Thank you for all the work your putting into these videos for us. I’m just loving the scenery.
👋😊
What Uncle Lar said.

Heya Russ I'm not far off the 101 in the Ilwaco/Long Beach area. If you take a break or camp in the area let's do lunch 😊
I fished out of ilwaco wa long time ago. On a charter caught a ton of sturgeon.
Doesn’t get much better than that, beautiful to say the least, therapeutic journey , stay safe

At entrances to these fee supported day-use parking areas and also campgrounds, it would be nice if you would flash the prices listed.
Can you have dogs at those parks?
Man I do love the ocean views and sounds. Thanks so much for taking us along on your travels Russ. Cheers!!!
My dogs would love those hiking trails... Great job sir!!
Beautiful drive to Humbug. That place is definitely not named right, lol. What a great park. Very cool walking tunnel, and trail. TY. 😊👍
Russ, you are doing a great job producing these videos :-) I appreciate your time and effort making these beautiful videos.

Narrated by Bruce Dern. LOL
Absolutely beautiful shots! I really can’t wait to take Sweet Pea (my Casita RV) straight out to gorgeous Oregon! Such a joy to see such beauty. 😘
....Motorized lift and an oxygen bottle LOL!

well except Gold Beach got named because of gold that washed down the rogue river onto the beach

Also, the small town of Ophir means " the finest of gold"
