    I want to learn one of the popular Joplin rags for a while but my teacher, in her sneaky way, always pools me back to more and more challenging academic music. But I want to play something happy....

    The bass is just brilliant; it isn't merely an accompaniment for the melody, it's almost like a counter-melody that stands on its own. The slower tempo lets you hear the bass which is great for learners (like me).

      Tempo di marcia is about 100-115 bpm. The Maple Leaf Rag should be about 105.

    This feels rather slow

      That's because it's nearly half the usual tempo.
