These were a regular blues band in the Lafayette Club in Wolverhampton U.K. Saw them them every time they played and early Fleetwood Mac with Pete Green, brilliant times.
I saw this band in a local club in South Wales in 1969, and a friend of mine was the DJ on the night so i was invited backstage and met the band i invited them to a party after the gig the drummer Dave Bidwell wanted to come but had to go to a gig some distance away and couldn't get transport if he didn't go with the band so he gave me his phone number and told me to give him a ring if i was ever in London, so a little while after myself and a couple of friends called in on him at his flat near Portobello Road and spent the day with him and his beautiful girlfriend, a really lovely guy and some great times
Wonderful, there is hardly any video of this original lineup. I go to see Stan as often as he makes himself available, they were always one of my top bands. I still have my 40 Blue Fingers and OK Ken vinyls in perfect condition. Thanks for finding this and sharing it.
that's got to be The Gin Mill Godalming....duster bennet, peter green....it was all so brilliant....didn't realise at the time just how brilliant it all was....great times
Saw them quite often back in 67-70 - almost regulars at Leeds Uni (the "small" stage I think). Some of the Hyde Park shoes also maybe. Lovely that clips still exist. Thanks.
Big similarities with Stan and Greeny's playing about this time. Sounds like they'd both eaten the Freddie king phrasebook for breakfast. (No bad thing though).
Stan’s guitar sounds so much like Peter Green’s from this era. Greeny reversed the polarity of the pick ups to get a nasal sound. Guess Mr Webb did same.
I thought the same, but a lot of his live stuff using different guitars has the "out of phase " sound. In Night Life he is using a black Les Paul but not in the middle position for both pickups. I wonder if he used a pedal.
Thanks for posting, I haven't seen this before - great stuff - is that Christine Perfect as was - sitting out the vocals on this one ? Brings back memories of places like the Toby Jug and Eel Pie Island in those days. Cheers man.
R.I.P. Christine McVie. What a rare treasure!
March 2023. This is the first time I’ve seen or heard Stan Webb. I’ve known about him for 53 years. Great voice and guitar tone.
How did you know him for all those years but never see or hear him?
@@jonnamechange6854 l'd read about him in the NME and such.
Oh how I loved her. She was so talented.

My all time favourite..Stan Webb and Chicken Shack
J'ai coutume de dire que "je suis peut-etre un vieux con mais j'ai eu le bonheur de connaitre cette période". Pauvre jeunesse moderne.
Christine really was "Perfect".
I was there, in a very small club on Seven Sisters Road, London. “OK, Ken!” RIP, CP.
NIce video from one of the best Blues Bands on 70's
A very underrated British guitar player
Je me souviens très bien de cette séquence que j'avais enregistrée sur mon magnétophone à l'époque, revoir les images c'est génial. Merci !
Wow! Damn good blues.
Wow an early Christine Mcvie (or Perfect)
Thanks 😊👍

8/8/1970. saw the Shack @ the Fillmore East. late show.
we saw them in 1978 in Denderleeuw (Belgium) never forget that !!!
Great Blues and I believe that Christine McVie (Perfect) on Keyboards.
Yes it is Mrs Mcvie.
Young Chris was beyond stunning - even with a bad haircut
Yeah she didn't get much recognition in Fleetwood Mac it was always about Stevie.
@@marcdewey3848 yes..,
The late Dave Bidwell on drums ... Wimbledon Park Pavilion was the summer hang-out for us local musicians ...great drummer and so mild mannered
Top blues, indeed!!!!

Редкая ранняя запись Ch Shack, very cool!
Before Christine 'was married to John MacVie, She was Christine Perfect in Chicken Shack
Stan Webb wanted perfection as an artist.
@@lisaweaver986 great`guitarist..,
Saw them twice back in the day.
Great
Saw them on a regular basis back in the day. Always a great night out! If You like this check out Freddie King-Beat '66. Its unreal!
Christine following in the footsteps of her grandfather who played at Westminster Abbey 🎹
COME BACK TO U.S.A. STAN THE MAN
These are same kinds of songs I play on keyboard, at open jams :D
Great vid!! Thanks for putting it up!!
Class total
Christine Perfect, as she was with Chicken Shack. OK Ken!

R.i.P christine

Love it ! dx

Those were. the days.....Harvest Moon Guildford....Gin Mill Godalming....wonderful memories
Musicians back then seemed to dress a lot better than today.

They absolutely do. That's actually why I'm so amazed people praise Peter Green but tend to forget about Stan Webb
@@Kloashut Better voice and better songs.
Nice Park amp. Probably worth a fortune today

The Gibson (ES 345) he used here has the Varitone control that gives all these extra tones. BB King played one also.
@@ted149 Ah. Never knew that. Thank u!
excellent, plz more Chicken Shack, seems it´s time for a new trade?

Yes, that surely is the "Perfect" one.
😊❤
Good imitation of black bleus artists.
He sounded like Peter Green!
R.I.P. BOB HALL!!!!!
Bob Hall isn't in this clip. He is also alive and well... :)
I JUST MISS BOB HALL THAT'S ALL, LOVE STAN THE MAN COME TO THE STATES
And also Harry "rogue & stroll" Sputzenmayer, James.

I had no idea…

Fleetwood mac?
@Coogan Because not only did Christine Perfect join Fleetwood Mac, but both bands were labelmates when they started off.
great
big
song
Sound
peter
Not Dunbar on drums
Dave Bidwell actually
Stan shoulda shut up 'n' let Christine sing, exclusively.
His playing is very similar to Alvin Lee
No it's not.
@@389383 yes it is
@@bucketmouth7705 Alvin had jazz and rock in his playing besides the blues. Also could sing and write. His band became Big; Chicken Shack not so much.
@@389383 it’s English rock and roll no matter how you cut it
@coogan8825 Not Stones or Zep big but they did headline concerts.
