No matter what They build next or in the future its gonna be very vert hard for them to build a bike as feirce and as unique as the 9-14 crossplanes. nothing like them and i dont thinl there will ever be to me. aesthetically to this day its still just w.o.w!
I agree to a certain extent, but to each his own. I am personally a bigger fan of how the 2004-2008 R1's look, but i love the crossplane sound! I have a 2004 R1 now, and I love it as much as i did the 2012.
The Honda cbr is the most street accommodating ride. The R1 delivers more torque and power uncharacteristicly and abruptly than all others. The r1 looks like a tank. a space craft, almost like a ufo. And i agree, it sounds like a race car. like an old dirt track car.
The 2012 R1 was one of the most comfortable sport bikes i have ever ridden. I just switched to a 2004 R1 and it feels like i'm playing a game of twister with a metal object under me. So uncomfortable.
the 2012 verison of the r1 got traction control , which honda got in 2017 , and honda didn't even have rider modes until 2017 which yamaha got in 2009 .... so nah dude honda is not "more" street friendly , if u want a "sportbike" as a street bike ur best bet is the bmw s1000rr with 3 riding modes , traction control , abs , slide and wheelie control , and clutchless up shifts. and all that comes with the 2010 verison of the bmw s1000rr . the 2015 have built in heated bars and clutchless up and down shifts !
as far as that goes then i agree with you but i still must say when it comes to comfort, seating and positioning the cbr and gsxr still both take the cake for me. sitting on a gsxr almost feels like a cruiser if you were to raise the handle bars. BMW is alot of hype by my judgement. the damn zx10r and gsxr 1000 are still the fastest stock in any line up test possible.
i totally agree with you on the gsxr part ! but i personaly feel more comfortable seating wise on a 09-14 r1 , but the thing about suzuki and honda is that electronic wise they have been lacking quite hard , while on the other hand bmw has the most comfort with higher handlebars than a gsxr and thicker and wider seat. thing about bmw bikes is that the newer ones is more computer than bike. buddy of mine has a zx10r -16 and boy that bike is stupid , its built for track and track only imo !
You doing 86 first. I did 92, what's going on here, I bought it used, don't know what previous owner did to it. It comes with juice box and two bros silver series. I think its not ecu flash, because when I let off gas, heavy engine breaking
If you do 92 you are probably over revving. I shift at peak power. ECU flash can do many things. Just because you have engine breaking doesn't mean it's not flashed. Usually if they send it somewhere to get flashed they will put a sticker on the ECU itself. Easy to spot.
RacerRed I shift right before red line. At this point if I go to a shop and ask if my ECU been flashed, they probably say no even it is. So they can rip me off charge me doing nothing. I don't know. I here r1 is most restricted bike out of factory. Either way I need to make sure ECU flash
That is correct. Many people out in the motorcycle community don't consider these things either. If you are having fun, you are doing it right! :) I could be riding a scooter and still be smiling under the helmet.
The R1 sounds like a beast. I would be interested to see how you like the flash. I was looking at one for the Tiger. Is it like ala carte? Can you say you don't want certain things? I would prefer to keep the engine braking for off road and keep the rev limiter. Some folks don't understand useable power vs top end power. Some of the early 90's sport bikes had big HP numbers for the time but were gutless down low.
azdesertdog Yes, they send you a questionaire regarding what you want and dont want. you can have them change a lot of things. im having them do all performance enhancing changes besides the idle adjustment. I will let you know how i like it! i just got my fairings finished, so just waiting on ecu.
P.S. They change it back to stock for free if you don't like the changes. I sent mine to SuperbikeUnlimited to have done. They just seemed to be the most reputable.
I did my upgrades i love it....the torque it has scares me a bit much but as far as this video goes this guy is nuts being a sport Touring bike when the class clearly states its a supersport pure unforgiving if misused
those that want a bike like you suggest should look at the new naked bike like this. i've heard its got way more bottom end, milder top end, crossplane, should be hoot, looking at one, if i can sell my racing engine...
Whichever bike floats your boat! They are all good bikes, but they aren't all comfortable or stylish, which comes down to personal preference. Thanks for the comment!
that's a commonly used term in the motorcycle world which describes different aspects of a bike. It's very common for someone to say "it has the most usable power" or something similar. The power range is more usable if you can effectively "use" it during normal riding.
Don't forget that generation of R1 won every single year (except 2009) in AMA Pro Superbike, it was more than just a high performance touring bike.
I love to read shyt like this!! 😊 R1 is my favorite bike NEXT to the BMW’s

Congrats on the bike. You did a good and honest review . Stay safe
Been riding it for a couple years now. Never gets lold. Thanks Tankerman!
I would have to say why not??? It's fast and sexy!!! Always have liked the looks of the Yamaha sports.
Yamaha has consistently made great machines since they started. The R1 definitely fast and sexy! Thanks for commenting!

A+++++
Very few on youtube realize how important the torque curve is for ride-ability on the street.

I came here for the outro music. Sik bike tho
Did you keep it?

What is the name of this color?
This is the LE (limited edition) bike
I own the exact same bike but was wondering what the heck does the “Most Usable” mean?? 😂🤣

When are you getting a new tire?
Probably not til next year! Its still pretty much new. We will make the next one an epic burnout though.
