I’m kinda tempted to try these as on ceiling speakers. I was looking at their in ceiling options along w some sort of enclosure in the attic. Any reason why something like this wouldn’t work?

@MrBonger88 I'm actually going to a Subscribers house soon because he, too, wants to try these as atmos and doesn't now how he wants to hang them. He's thinking of buying brackets. Depending on the size of the room they may work well not they will be VERY obvious. And ideally you'd want to angle them towards you.

Cool video! Just so you know, it is actually two drivers in this speaker arrange in a concentric configuration. It is a Twitter inside of a mid range driver.

have you gave a phantom center a chance? I have a very similar set up and ultimately ditched he center because of placement limitations, you just gotta get over the seat to seat consistently thing. once I did that, I didn't think about it and was surprised that preferred a phantom center to the actual center. Worth a shot at the very least but it s your setup and your ears. If you like it you will only need one more q4 saving you $500 and bit less clutter on the front stage. just an idea.

Thanks for confirming what I see far too many audiophiles making mistakes in their setup: center channel too low. I see it time and time again, and it's a mistake most will wait too long to correct, much like room treatments. They choose to ignore it for far too long, and I don't understand why others continue to repeat that error.

You could try them for LCR too - for HT you might be suprised? looking forward to your review! I was looking at these as I need thin in wall speakers…or the RBH Impression OnWall that are a bit thinner and no port.

I'm running Q7 Meta's with the Q6 center crossed over to a pair of PSA S1512 subs. The Q4's are too big for me to use as surrounds unfortunately.

So what are you using as surrounds then

@Kpaceguy some monitor audio radius 90's I found on FB marketplace.

    Omg no!
Center channel is the most important speaker and you have replaced it with Q4?? Dynamically it’s very limited speaker. Get ci3160rlm and just create box for it mount it in wall. Or just kill center channel altogether and rely on phantom?
I have used ls50 as surrounds for some time but they are, similarly to q4, dynamically compromised (5.25” Uniq). Even new SVS elevation ultra will do better here

Yup! And the Q series suffer from MAJOR IMD distortion when you start pushing the volume. He should have gone In-wall 3-way KEF.

I can consider a phantom but my gf sits off axis and don't want it sounding weird for her

      Cross them over at 100-120hz.

@ it’s not even about low end output which is limited - but it will have really high distortion at higher levels, making sound more muddy.

@ Of course, you can't expect reference levels due to driver and cabinet size. That goes for any small speaker. Erin's Audio Corner tested the Q3 which should give you an idea of what the Q4 is going to perform. From the Concerto on up the distortion and dynamic range levels are much better.
