Seeing your hands in action is super helpful. I find a lot of info conflicting. What I see is a lot more movement or combination from the reigns than I’ve been led to believe was kosher. What you’re demonstrating makes sense to me as well, by having the hand away from the neck in the direction of bend. I’d like to see more of this and during lateral work.

I’m struggling to keep the bend/tempo when I add the specific movements into the ride, especially in the half pass, so my horse ends up stiffening/straightening/slowing down, and then I lose the hind end and it all turns to 💩. Help!

When ever you lose the bend/suppleness, go back and establish it again.

@@AmeliaNewcombDressage thank you! Do you ever come as far as South Carolina for clinics?

I like this a lot. I have a horse that is a bit 'opinionated' and definitely tries to control the tempo. She's very forward and sensitive. I'm working on the half halts to try and keep her in the tempo, but can that also feel restrictive to the horse and cause more tension and rushing?

Try incorporating riding patterns and figures too! That will help!
