taemin took kpop to a more artistic level with Guilty. I can't imagine a music industry without Taemin. He always has that ability to revolutionize everything he plays and it is always with music that is not at all commercial or empty. It's always artistic music, there's always so much detail and context behind his music, it's always so deep. How many could say that they make artistic music? Besides Taemin I could hardly think of anyone else. Kpop has become so commercial lately. Grateful to live in the same era as this great artist, called Taemin.

@@vhopefullily1996i believe he mentioned his military time being the hardest on his mental health and the kpop industry in general is exploitative of their idols, in a way that lures them into their own demise. If you watch the MV for this song there’s also a lot of hints of taemin being controlled and taemin reminiscing on the childhood he missed, etc.

Again with his duality. He still has the manner like an idol .the image he portrayed as the youngest should like an angel will never leave him. This also the reason he love the concert. He is more expressive, bold, brave and daring.

The use of the word unprotected is haunting. This song has a double meaning about the exploitation he suffered at the hands of the industry at a young age.

He went through a lot of sexual harassment and was also forced to do things he didn't feel comfortable with/didn't want to do so that older people could gawk at him in sexual ways. It was exploitation when they forced him to wear skinny jeans when he felt naked, it was exploitation when they didn't tell him they were doing shirtless pictures so that he didn't work out and so he would look younger (he was a minor at this time), it was exploitation when he would go on talk shows and older men would feel him up/ ask him to moan/ put their hands on him / feed him / touching his bum / trying to kiss him without his consent. All of which you can find on youtube if you do even a basic search. There are literally dozens of videos of other members getting in front of hosts that are trying to touch Taemin without his consent. The company allowed and benefited from the image. That is just what is caught on camera. He was purposefully being sexualized by his company for profit off of the creepy adult men and women.
Just because he wanted to be a trainee doesn't mean he wasn't exploited. Also he HIMSELF has said if he could do it again he would debut as an adult. Pretending that young idols aren't highly controlled and exploited is just wilful ignorance at this point. No matter who signs what papers, in fact WANTING and dreaming of something is often HOW they get exploited. Kpop companies are well known for exploitation of their talent.
He's also said he wasn't ready to debut and was convinced by the company and his parents. Lot of kpop stars who were debuted at a young age talk about it like BOA.
We don't actually know that is fully what the song is about, he's said it's about living a controlled life and then no longer being controlled, but a lot of people infer it, as he did not have a lot of choices at the time. He's also said that Guilty taemin is taemin, which he normally doesn't say about his concepts.
It is his choice now to look vulnerable, but it wasn't always.

@@teeluh1 Well, there is some truth in this and a decent amount, Esam understands it, they are a showbiz agency and essentially saw who debuted and why, but I always find it strange to read this from K-pop fans who so easily abdicated their responsibility for sexualization underage Tae, The fanfic alone with a lousy plot is worth it, the art and the fact that he himself is a fan, not everything of course, but many constantly made a woman, and if not a woman, then they always insisted on his sexual preferences and called him unambiguously gay, you see whether the radar works for this, and now that Te has matured and outgrown all this as best he could and has digested and realized that in his work he, as an artist, can turn the minds of narrow-minded people around, namely, use gender-neutral images in visuals and sometimes in clothes, I won’t say that he strongly insists on this, no, he does it all frivolously, with a hint, purely for the sake of a visual picture, so that people drool, and releases a similar album with just slightly controversial photographs. And people suddenly dressed in white clothes and began to scribble about how bad SM is, while always losing sight of his family. Yes, perhaps now, after all these years, he says that he would like to debut later, that he missed the opportunities that ordinary peers his age had during these very school years, because he didn’t really have them, but then again He also said that he has no regrets and is grateful that his fate turned out this way and not otherwise, and if he had debuted later, he would have achieved what he has now, having so many titles and being an Industry Legend and something... who, one might say, creates trends in this very industry, therefore, in achieving such heights and recognition, people always have to sacrifice something, be it business, art, sports... all this can be applied to athletes who have become World Champions, European, Olympic champions, ask them if they regret that his mother once gave him to sports and didn’t ask much, I think the majority will say no, these are people with a different core, and Taemin too, he is a stubborn person, a workaholic and a Perekionist since childhood, and we must not forget that from an early age he knew what he wanted from life and his parents followed his desires, understood and supported him, and showbiz is the same everywhere, but this is showbiz and it works for people, for their satisfaction in one way or another to a different degree...
This man will not really compromise his art and is not afraid of being a provocateur. On top of his immense talent, he's fearless. That is what makes him exhilarating to watch as he changes and matures. Incredible!!!!

Hands down my fave "Guilty" stage. Every detail helps convey the message of this comeback. The school uniforms, the minimal makeup, his acting and fierce eye contact, the agression, his complete agency, this 1:53 epic choreo moment, the ending fairy - just look at the expression in his eyes (!), the vocals going off at 2:42, this 2:24 rotation with a glimpse of Shawols and the overtly "amateurish" zooming in on his abs by the camera man. I'm dying to know, if both parts were planned, because it matches so well with the message. I felt uncomfortable, protective, invasive and emotional watching this performance. Whenever Taemin stared into the camera, I felt "caught" and wanted to look down. Anyone critical of the vision behind and execution of his comeback should watch this stage and maybe consider, if the mirror he holds op, got a little too close for comfort. I dearly hope, Taemin keeps experimenting, challenging and pushing boundaries. Not only for himself, for music lovers, but current and future generations of idols. I'm so grateful, I get to enjoy the artistry, Taemin shares.

Taemin needs more support from ifans who care about music and justice. The song GUILTY has a subversive layer and Taemin has specific things to say, but the message was lost in translation. I made an explainer video to reveal what is hidden, and it is well received by Taemin's core fans, check it out and make up your own mind!
Had Taemin ended this Guilty stage with his facial expression from his Studio Choom performance I think it would have broken my heart. His expression at the end of Studio Choom was that of a 14-16 year old boy bewildered (almost asking for help) and put with this school uniform this song?? He just knows his audience and himself so well and how far to go with his craft in every situation. Just an OUTSTANDING PERFORMER!

Taemin is Once-In-A-Universe. He is 100% the standard, the blueprint that others will point to when it comes to artistic greatness. Taemin transcends every boundary and limit to make you feel the music from his magical voice, to his spellbinding dance and choreography to his unreal concepts and visuals. Many try to imitate him and I am sure many more will in the future but no one can even come close. This performance was breathtaking. Taemin was both powerful and vulnerable. A combination anyone else would perhaps struggle to display. Every performance is magical and allows him to showcase different aspects and emotions of the song. Taemin is like a Dark Fae Prince who stumbled into ours by accident and though he may not truly belong here he chooses to stay and grace us with his presence and majesty. Thank you for all of your hard work Taemin and Team. "Guilty" is truly a Masterpiece.
