I would only use REDARC projecta are good too, but REDARC are just on a whole other level. I have a Simple REDARC dual battery isolator NEVER let me down, however i feel it will be only a matter of time before i setup it up into the better range they offer.
As a customer with a few Redarc products (sbi212, bcdc25, manager 30, 1000w inverter and Tow Pro) just want to say their support is amazing. I needed a minor part (knob for the tow pro) and couldn't buy it from a store. They bent over backwards to get one to me. Big love for this Aussie company!
Great video. Having researched all this myself years ago for my dual battery setup, I can say that this video is about 20 hours of research crammed into less than 20 minutes.
Best video on dual battery set up I’ve seen soo far. Most videos have not explained it soo clear and to the point and make it very confusing and frustrating to understand . People automatically think a second battery will run a fridge for more than one day , and it will if your fridge is on the lowest setting possible but in summer 40 deg that’s not feasible. Red arc is damn expensive , however this video demonstrates just why you should throw your money at it , once , the first time and your set long time . Well done Shauno
Redarc are the best. Was running a manager15 on my camper and it was the best piece of kit i've used in any 12v setup. Will be fitting a manager30 to my next build. Their brake controllers are great too. Keep up the good work.
Usually don't watch product reviews on here because the products are typically not available in the USA. I've been looking for a simple solution to auxiliary 12v power in my truck and was super stoked to see Redarc in the North American market! Thanks for the killer review and explanation on the products!
You guys are fantastic.... not only do you show cutting edge stuff ( like the auto diff locker install) but you inform us about AUSTRALIAN MADE CUTTING EDGE PRODUCTS.... we all know you can buy all these things from an array of different companies but not all stores sell the Australian products and because of that people buy inferior/cheaper overseas stuff because they simply don't know about the ozzie stuff.... I always try to buy Australian made and it's such a big help to be informed of the products we make right here in Australia.... well done guys.... and the quality is awesome...
Would love to see more info on inverters and which one to select, what they can run and what they need to support them. Also how to use them correctly.
Regarding those dc dc charger. Q1. Bought the bcdc1250. Now would that mean I'm getting constant 50amps to my secondary battery or its dependant on input ie amps the alternator/solar panel size would pump in?
I know the 25AMP charger was recommended, but can you use the 40 or 50amp charger for a battery under 200AH? Will it have improved charge times? Or will something be damaged?
Can a DC output on a small generator be used to hook up to the redarc dc-dc charger on the solar panel input or alternator input to use on the vehicle if your alternator dies???
Great content Shauno! how good is that an Aussie company not only makes the best but keeps manufacturing and support local👍👍 They are a great example of greed not ruling their business. Redarc all the way mate😀😀
The best information about 4wd touring 4wdaction have ever bought out. EVER... even since 4wdmonthly days...only if they bring back the 4wdmonthly days DVD’s
Thanks Shauno! Awesome company. I hate to say it but, "I'm an engineer" and just seeing the video footage of redarc, it gives me pride in a well engineered product. Even if I'm not part of their process. High quality stuff, designed for us. Theres something about packaging all these functions. Its great.
For the basic Smart Start isolator system, how do you determine what size you need, do you just match the amperage (100 or 200) to your alternator's output?
Can you charge direct from a Honda EU 20,30 generator and when you get home put the system on charge via 240 volt. A great and very informative video Thanks Shaun and Redarc.
Damn, my battery charger just stopped working after 15 years. I remembered Shaun mentioning Redarc so I gave their website a shot. That's a damn well website with a lot of info. Came back to this video and I think I'm gonna buy me a Redarc BCDC1225
Great to see a global company home grown right hear in the Land Down Under, we have lost so many innovative & creative companies to O/S cheap labour countries. I have seen the inroads Redarc have made into the US market with great results & good old Aussie know how + the yanks are simply blown away with the complete systems integration that ticks all the boxes from the team at Redarc. One question I do have is they have the 12 volt system covered, but what about the 24 volt brigade ? We have a large 4X4 overland truck & would like any info or catalogues covering our type of setup as we are currently in the build stage, & want to stay for extended time in the bush. Nothing Beats a Fair Dinkum Aussie Company, Regards Steve.
I have a couple of REDARC gauges and one is the dual voltage gauge, they are both working well although I find it unfortunate that the reading pin goes in segments and not in a smooth motion which doesn't make it very accurate. I also have the extra current sensor which measures the current in 1 Amps which I find extremely inaccurate, I can be running some small LED's and the reading will still indicate 0 amps. I was really disappointed for that one considering the price, it could at least read in 0.1 Amps so you would know if you have a small current leak or know how much amps something actually consumes...
When using a dc to dc charger can the power going into the unit come from a 12v socket or does it need to come from the battery with larger gauge wires ?
I just use a good quality esky and ice, one for beer and one for food. One less stress while camping. Can easily go for 3 nights. Plus you can buy ice almost anywhere.
Only ever have run redarc use a bcdc now in car and manager setup in trailer can cost more than cheap shit but it’s never let me down so worth the extra in my eyes
I went to an auto lecky in FNQ on my recent cape trip because my aux battery in the 4wd died. After he heard I have a camper trailer he wanted to get at it to install an extra battery and charger in it. I started pointing at display stock and describing the fitout it came with.. Manager30, colour display with Bluetooth, 200Ah lithium battery..... His mouth fell open. He had never seen the stuff hooked up yet, and he was having guesses at how many thousands of bucks worth of gear it had.. And yes, it IS good gear, and yes their service is really good, but you pay for the quality. BTW FWIW my camper is a Drifta WUHT.
You did not cover how to hand an installation for a vehicle with a smart alternator, and the use of some sort of Ignition-On detection. Can you please elaborate, thanks
Id like to see you guys take a vehicle that's not meant to be off road and turn it into a overland vehicle. Been watching this dude on youtube make an off road miata and its absolutely epic.
Great community engagement. Before I probably would have gone the cheap option now I'm more inclined to support this Australian company.
Once you see this facility for yourself, you wouldn't have anything else. Shauno
I would only use REDARC projecta are good too, but REDARC are just on a whole other level. I have a Simple REDARC dual battery isolator NEVER let me down, however i feel it will be only a matter of time before i setup it up into the better range they offer.
Spot on! I was thinking the same thing. I'll happily spend more $$$ to get a quality Australian made product.
im from ireland and living in NSW and getting big into camping/4x4 i was completely clueless before this video thanks so much.

What a fantastic video! I have always had questions about running dual batteries and how it all worked. Thanks 4WD Action!
I forgot how amazing this video was! Incredible!! Explained it perfectly

I love my Redarc stuff. Cheers Steve
literally the perfect video as im currently planning out my own 12v dual battery system, you beauty!!!
I'm thinking of upgrading my auxiliary electrics in the mighty Maverick so this video came at just the right time.
Great vid Shauno, well presented, didn’t miss a trick, learnt plenty from it too!

Great video always a topic that not many people have any idea about or where to start
hook 2nd battery to alternator to charge & also isolater, then when at camp hook solar to it to keep charged
Would love to see a full video on the camera car 😁 great work guys
there is one from a while ago
That’s from when they had an 80. It’s now a Nissan I’m pretty sure and I’d love to see what’s in it!!
@@hughbart I know what you mean but there are plenty short videos about the nulon camera car?!
Dominik Koch that might have to do for now till they do a full 20-30 min video on the camera one. Thanks btw I’ll check out the nulon ones 🤣👍👍
Best video on youtube. Awesome info and amazing company! Thanks!
Absolutely love 4wd24/7 So much information
This is the video I needed to watch! 🎉
Now this is what I've been waiting for 👍
Nice one Shauno, when are we going to see the dirty 30 in action?
I feel the extra cost for buying Redarc units just go justified. Good stuff
Great video, love the redarc setup
“Just like driving around with no fuel guage in your 4wd you just wouldnt do it “ unless your names graham and you drive shorty 🤣🤣
Thanks guys needed this bad now I know what set up i need
This video was really helpful, thanks shauno
Great to learn how it works, cheers 👍
Thanks!! We’ve installed the bcdc1225d, perfect!
Good to see quality manufactured products here at home ;)

How much longer before the dirty 30 is back in service, the new d 30 is super cool .
Top vid mate 🤙
Old mate Thanos knows what he's talking about...
lol even if he didn't, you would't question it coz he could break most of us in half with a stare!
Do you still need to run the isolator at camp when using the battery charger or does the charger isolate from the starter battery too?
Best in the business 👍
Great info shauno
Good video bloke
Sounds good but what is the cost
I recon a generator and drums of fuel would be cheaper
Best products in the market by far.
Top video legends.
Shauno, follow this up with a piece on the merits of good quality harness connectors. Its no good having plenty of amps if its not reliable
great products as always and a very informative video. But no one ever puts the price when they advertise stuff like this. Would be handy to know!
This is Awesome mate , thanks for the video ❤️ it. Do they export their product in other part of the world ?
When are we getting part 2 of the latest trip shauno? 🚘
