Sir Please help i have confusion ZnO is converted into Zinc hydroxide by the help of water or acetic acid but u said acetic acid is better 3:00 any reason why acetic acid is better ??
@@Aspire32 thank u so much sir your previous answer cleared my issue Also a bit confusion remaining sir you mentioned traid of caries so ZOE is anticariogenic bcz it act as a biological sealer as it cut down nutrients and organism die But Sir also u mentioned ZOE has no Fluoride releasing property and has no anti-cariogenic effect So if comes in MCQs what should we say ZOE is anti cariogenic or not???
thank you, you made this topic very clear and easy, can you please talk about calcium hydroxide in detail, with the difference between 2 paste system and 1 past system, with the application
Thanks for the in-depth information. Originally, I was going to start a deep cavity with Cal LC, followed by a layer of zinc-oxide, with a micro-hybrid composite to finish. Now I'm not confident applying the zinc-oxide layer under the composite layer although, the micro composite contains fluoride and, zinc-oxide is highly-soluble. I guess now I'm wondering, will the oxide adhere to the composite? What if I start with Cal LC, apply the zinc-oxide layer then hit the oxide layer with another thin application of Cal LC, before finishing with the micro composite. Would this arrangement compensate for the oxide's lack of adhesion, or should I just skip the zinc-oxide layer altogether?
Can we use it in deep caries cases where there are chances for it to turn into rct ? Ie. to check if it becomes sympomatic before giving permanent filling?

Doctor I have a question if you allow it. The Add of water make the setting time longer or shorter If you please, it would be nice if you explained it in detail. ❤❤
When the mixture more liquid it's take more time for setting [ When add water mixing time be shorter but that make mixture more liquid that taking more time for setting] I apologize if I bothered you, but I feel like something is wrong. .
Thanks so much ,Sir. Why is not the non modified ZOE cement used as temporary base ,although it is away from saliva of the oral cavity that dose not make it dissolved ???
If u have a cap and u want it to be placed on tooth but u plan to remove again for next appointment. Here u need a cement which is temporarily meaning u can easily remove cap again. Thats temporary cementing, meaning cementing a crown. Suppose you did a class 1 amalgam cavity prepration but u dont have time to fill the cavity. But you cant leave the cavity open. So u have to put a temporary cement so that it fills the cavity preparation but u can remove the cement from cavity next appointment. Thats temporary restoration.
Wow. Great question. I did found the answer in a book. Gypsum products are normally mixed with a stiffbladed spatula in a flexible rubber bowl . This combination permits the technician to apply enough pressure in hand mixing to avoid the formation of lumps , while the flexibility of of bowl allows removal of hardened material.
Great video sir! This whole series of dental cement videos makes revision of cements really quick and easy
Thank you Lisa :).. I hope the video series helps every one understand the topic better when theh read the chapter next time from the book :)

Thats old school thought. We do lc, gic and then composite
Sir plz make a video on calcium hydroxide cement
Noted :)
Sir which one have better biocompatibility for pulp out of ZOE and calcium hydroxide
It depends on many factors. All can irritated the pulp.. it depends on how much the material is in contact with the pulp..
Can we use it in deep caries cases where there are chances for it to turn into rct ? Ie. to check if it becomes sympomatic before giving permanent filling?

The cement will set fast which means the setting time will be reduced.

The dissolution is very slow. It takes years
Does this mean that the property of dissolution is not due to saliva only?
Thanku sir

Please, another question. How is eugenol irritable and at the same time obtundent and suppress the inflammatory mediators??
In direct contact it is irritating since its in very high concentration
Okay. I got it, but in general, what is the meaning of the irritation of the pulp? What happen exactly in the pulp when is irritated?
