  • Saulala sadina is a traditional Lithuanian multipart song (Sutartinė).
It used to be sung in the end of a long day of work in the fields to say farewell to the sun.
Sutartinės (from the word sutarti - to be in concordance) is a form of polyphonic music performed by mainly female singers in north-east Lithuania. There are many different styles and ways of performing Sutartinės.This type of Sutartinė is called Trejinė, it is performed by three singers (or three groups of singers). The most characteristic feature of this type of songs is major second interval that Lithuanians perceived as a consonant and pleasant to hear.
I invite you to get into the feeling of an ancient lithuanian people and try to hear it the same way they used to.
To me it is great pleasure to share such a particular sound of Sutartinė with the world, especially when accompanied by most talented Margherita Abita and Giulia Campana two amazing singers and performers from ITALY.

    Lyrics:
    Saulala sadina lylia
    Aš regėjau, sadina lylia
    Saulala sadina lylia
    Aukštų kalnų, sadina lylia
    Saulala sadina lylia
    Ant to kalno, sadina lylia
    Saulala sadina lylia
    Du berželiu, sadina lylia
    Saulala sadina lylia
    Tuos berželiuos, sadina lylia
    Saulala sadina lylia
    Dvi gegiulės, sadina lylia
    Saulala sadina lylia
    Užkukavo, sadina lylia
    Saulala sadina lylia
    Ir atėjo, sadina lylia
    Saulala sadina lylia
    Atilsėlis, sadina lylia
