No doubt. Actually, the pitching has been consistently bad over the last two months. The hitting is inconsistent. Amazing that they are in first place.
If I were Boone or Mendoza, I would put the gym teacher discipline back into the locker room. "If we score less than 6 runs, everyone does 20 laps around the Stadium".
Indeed, the game has changed! I'm old enough to remember when, on contending teams, your .240 hitter is NOT a regular starter. Now they bat lead-off and are in the #4 hole demanding big bucks. And ppl wonder why the Mets and Yankees exit meekly in the playoffs.
Mike, as always, hits the nail on the head with preseason football: doesn’t really give ya much! And to Giants fans bitching about Nabers not being targeted when wide open: u show ur casual by not realizing that those QBs were told to not even spook his way. He was out there for ceremonial purposes only… jumping for an errant throw, being tackled (all on that notorious playing surface) in a game that don’t count foolish
They used to play 6 preseason games, not 4 and this isn’t today this is back in the day, not today. Reggie Jackson had one of the best contracts, which brings me to Kieth Hernandez, so Mike, would you give Cespedes the extra year on the contract?
Hal and Cashman knew what the stakes were bringing in Soto and I have to believe they understand they need to keep him. He's already on the books for $31M this year - it's not like they're adding $40+M in payroll by adding him. Torres and Verdugo will be gone. The money short-term will work.
If I’m the Yankees I put A.Verdugo at the lead off spot permanently and bring up J.Dominguez and bat him behind A.Judge, and put G.Stanton behind him and put A.Wells behind them.
there gonna sign soto back mike i dont know why you keep saying there not gonna sign him because they dont wanna hurt judge's feelings thats crazy yankees are gonna def open up the checkbook for soto give him anything he wants
I surely wished that Stearns didn't shop in the basement at the trade line: if he wasn't a small market GM, he could have struck while the Mets were hot, got better players and jet propel the team: like what they did in 2015 when they add Cespedes. The team isn't very good and who knows what this team will be like next year.
@@GinNBoost Ok, the Cespedes mention went over your head. Back then, the Mets had a solid rotation and needed a stud bat to put them over the edge. This season, the Mets were hot offensively and needed an Ace-type pitcher & a depth piece to try to make a run into the playoffs. Stearns went Walmart shopping: wasted opportunity.
@@bundown5463 ok so which Ace did you want the Mets to get? You wanted them to give up their whole farm system for some overrated pitcher on the Tigers?
The Mets are tired and the teams they played aren't? They are a slightly better than .500 club with a mediocre pitching staff and a cleanup hitter having his worst year. Capish?
The Mets are a mediocre .500 team with nconsistent hitting and pitching. The fact that they are vying for a wild card spot is a disgrace in our watered down everyone gets a trophy sports today.

Hi Mike 😂
Forever a legend
Soto will be a Met next season. no way they will pay soto more than judge .
Marte is on his way back...
But lets face it... Alonso with runners in scoring position?
Thank God for the AFC Central this year.
The Yankees better hope and pray Soto or Judge don't get hurt
Yes, all teams hope and pray their superstar players don't get hurt. But thanks for the input, Captain Dipshit.
@@Studio732JRL-k7ysmoke a spliff bro. Chill
They should sell their souls that they don't get hurt 😂
They're still not going anywhere.
Yankees are wildly inconsistent. There are no easy games

It’s Soto & Judge and not much else!
And to think Judge had a lousy April! Had he not, he might have 50 home runs and 125 rbi's by now.
Rickey don't lose that number.....
You don't want to call nobody else.
Jenny
Hope the mets come around soon. Tough road trip. But lets go having a surprisingly good season. I got into them. Lets talk Jets. LI Italian guy 66
Bring back brett gardner to save the yankees lineup!
Mike Do you think if Hal signs Soto that will be his whole budget. We still need to 2 SP and Closer at minimum
Only God can help them now and he's too busy to worry about baseball
Where is Domimguez!!! What are they doin get that switch hitting bat in the line up. He's exactly what they need.
I have a bad feeling the Mets start losing it now I hope I'm wrong ! It was a good run thou

Always go with the opposite of any of his predictions.
If Alonso and Scott Bore-ass play hardball with the Mets Cohen & Stearns will say adios to Pete and use that opening to sign Soto.
NFL should consider eliminating pre-season
Agree. It should be joint practices with each teams
When to both the Jets and Giants preseason games. Stadium half full …
Mets couldn't even hit their own shadow
Forget ws for yanks bad inconsistency at pitching and 7 of 9 position players do squat
