In the next few years, social media for churches will definitely be a big thing and will have an important role in proclaiming God's Word. Continue what you're doing Brady because we need people like you who will help us navigate through this digital transition.
Rule 7 was a huge eye opener. Even as a young minister you can get caught up in the day to day of ministry and not pay attention to the fact that what decisions and practices we make now will affect our ministry in 10 years. Wow. We have to begin looking not only at our current church but also remember to not neglect where we are headed. Great Content!
engagement / reach = effectiveness. I had looked at both numbers separately, but dividing seems like a super helpful addition. Obvious, once I saw it! Thanks.
The second rule; do ministry not just promote; was the most helpful to me at this time. Feel this is where I'm trying to direct our communication efforts right now. And it's a good way to think about what kind of posts to create.
Rule #4: Reach Publicly; Connect Personally- was where I drew my ♥ in my notes. Personally, I'm fairly new to social media, and had not embraced its effectiveness in ministry until I was so led to "preach" while being stuck in the house, LOL, my videos probably suck, but my aim is truly to minister the Rhema Word of God as the Holy Spirit leads at that moment...I get on Live, speak what comes out, then I'm out...I never look at the real time comments, I've never really replied or reached out...I would like more engagement but I've never opened that door. So this rule hit hard....I will definitely make an effort to connect personally....Thank you
Reach publicly; Connect personally. Sounds so simple, but it really is a seesaw that I know I've spent more time on the extremes of rather than balancing! Thanks so much for putting this together.
As always, full of great stuff...but, your point about 167 hours left in the week to connect and minister was such a zinger! Working all the angles to accomplish the mission is where it's at! Thanks 🙂
Oh my goodness. This was so encouraging. I am doing social alone. Not only do I manage our church Facebook, but also youth Instagram, and several other accounts including my own. Because of this. I rarely post to Facebook. This gives me ground to step up and talk about things.
The last rule #7 is something my husband (pastor) and I have been thinking about. I'm the social media admin and have been trying to be strategic about creating community of our digital followers (our followers outnumber our attendance by 4x post-covid). With a strong digital community, where does that leave our "physical followers" (or better, how does having a strong digital community encourage our physical followers to share the light and love of Jesus with their nieghbor?)? Thanks for challenging us and providing this wonderful resource.
Engage/Reach....This whole video was answer to pray, as I was walking through the park at 6:30am yesterday morning, I prayed that I had wisdom and revelation for creating video testamonies of healing for our website and our other social media platforms. I have been fumbling around with social media for our church for 5 years. I felt like this was my first really training class on how to execute my objectives.
Another great video as a media guy for our church I still get push back from older elders about the movement we are heading with our social media accounts. Your information has helped point them in the scripture and show them that younger guys aren't always wet behind the ears. In some cases I think they feel the shift and fear the change. Keep pumping these out it helps us show that both are possible, online and offline.
Great to hear that. Steering the ship in a new direction always means resistance. But it's encouraging when you start to see it click for other people on your team.
This was great. I've been managing the church FB page and was asked to start insta too, but I never felt comfortable jumping on that. Now I can justify my hesitations!
Great video! Lots of good info. Do you have a recommendation for a smaller church that has an older congregation and that doesn't have a heavy social media presence? Much more the congregation itself is not on SM.
These videos have been so helpful!! I started my position at church a couple weeks before covid and was also the first social media staff member. I have constantly looked to these videos for inspiration. Thank you!!
I found myself subscribing to your channel and found that I was already subscribed. So consider yourself double subbed. I'm sure that I was just as impressed by the sheer clarity and thorough way that you think about and present these convoluted topics., the first time that I subscribed. Thanks for finding a very important and often overlooked way to do the work of Christ. Can't wait to go back and watch the other videos in this series and beyond.
Repeat the best; forget the rest; never stop experimenting. That makes lot of sense. That also makes the ministry much easier and smarter too. Would love to see a video on post samples! I also wonder if you could make a video too on a day of a church's social media creator.
Brady, this is stellar. Tremendously insightful. Thank you so much for breaking all this down and doing so in clear and simple language to boot! You’ve crystallized so many concepts I’ve only begun to grasp and it helps enormously. I also really appreciate the look behind the curtain you often give in terms of mindset, practices, and specific benchmarks along an org’s social journey. I’m excited for your next video!
The biggest take away I got was the need to get to the understanding of how the church (organization) intends to use social media and getting away from the "promo sector."
I really appreciated the section about posting at a sustainable pace for your church. So many churches much bigger than my church post every day so it was just natural for me to assume that we needed to do that too. That pace, however, is just not sustainable for us right now. Also, it seemed more important to get content out there, rather than focus on the quality of the content, so I appreciated that advice as well! I would be very interested in a COVID-specific social media strategy and post examples video!
It's good to know that pictures of people at our churches are the most effective way to "stop the scroll". One question, though: if we don't have many high-quality pictures of such, does the benefit from posting mediocre photos outweigh the potential "oof-reaction" factor?
Thank you Brady, as usual, you have helped me put more pieces of the social media puzzle together. I do have a question about the Georgia Institute of Technology study that you quoted. As fast as the "social media universe" is constantly changing and evolving, do you think that the results of this study from 2014 are still true today? Have you gotten results similar to the study?
Humans connecting with the faces of other humans is timeless and transcends even digital media! Because it's instinctual. But I have used other studies to make this point before here: www.nucleus.church/blog/church-website-design/. Just scroll down to the section titled, "The indisputable value of photos..."
Well done Brady...just wondering...how do you look at the camera throughout your amazing presentation...professional, engaging, enlightening...charismatic...without notes? My posts are fraught with glances down...fumbling with paper...etc.
This was all really good. I have a question though, I'm new to our church staff and it looks like the adults are on FB, but the youth are (or would be) more engaged on Insta. Since I'm the Children and Youth Ministry Director, I'm kind of forced toward FB to hit the parents of the children and Insta to try and engage the youth. So do I just do the best I can or is there a better way to navigate?
hey man! great content. Learned alot from this channel. I paid for the month membership, however, I feel limited on the content you have to offer. I only see content for only September. Was seeing if you had anything prior months.
Shekeb Sekander hey Shekeb, thanks for the support. The way it’s set up currently, when you join, you’ll find the 30 days of content within the free trial and then the current month making up an additional 30 days. And then you’ll get a new month’s worth of content every month going forward. We’re looking to add the backlog of content as well (close to two years). But the system isn’t currently setup for that.
Hello, looking to adapt this for new missionaries starting out on deputation, what we like to call pre-field ministry. Do you have anything already geared that way? Will be teaching a session about this at our mission agency headquarters with new missionary candidates. Looking forward to your response.

This is some high quality content, thanks Brady!
Rule #3! It's good to know we don't have to post everyday but instead focus more on content that matters!
Yes!
I love the #6 keep experimenting!

Currently binge-watching all your videos lol. I have been overwhelmed (in a good way) with so much helpful information! Thank you!!
Great to have you!

love this video - like the point 'use social to do ministry not just promote'

Thanks for the kind words, Allen. The double sub is also much appreciated.
Lol. Omg. The same thing happened to me. 😂😂😂😅. I don’t remember when I subbed. But I was about to sub and saw I was already subscribed. 😂
I would love to see sample posts!
Nice content. It's an eye opener. Socials should be used for the gospel and not just to promote the gospel. Thank you

Just finished the script for the post examples video. More than 100 different examples. It's 6,000+ words. So it's gonna be a beast. 😅
I really appreciate your channel and all that you do to give us relevant content. Love from Fiji!
You put into words what I've been feeling--that this pandemic is an accelerator. Time to get busy!

Loved the reach / engagement equation. Super helpful!

My biggest takeaway was Do ministry online, not just promote ministry

Is there a live streaming platform with Nucleus?
offline and online working together. This is something that does not happen at my church and I wish it did.
It's still uncommon in many churches. But won't be this way forever!
Hey Brady, I was wondering what degrees might you need to go into the media directing direction?
Virtually everyone in the church world is self-taught. If you’re talking about specifically, there’s a lot more to learn by doing than in a classroom.
@@prochurchtools Awesome Thank You
Thanks Brady! This helps so much. What is the cool caption software you are using?
We use Da Vinci Resolve for all of our video editing. It's the best tool for churches too. It's free!
@@prochurchtools thank you!

I'm def in camp #1....
Welcome! The cool thing? Every single one of us IS there or HAS been there at some point. So you're in good company.
I thumbs upped? I want it. 😁👍

That's the one right there. Outstanding.
My greatest take away is: On-line and Off-line are not adversaries.
Post high quality content (yup) ... consistently (of course) ... for 10 years (FWAH!)

Removed it! That's still our company name - but decided to go with a more personal channel name.
