There used to be a little Japanese cafe down in the historic district, opened up about 10 years ago. The lady that owned it moved here from Japan with her American husband, and they started the restaurant because she was homesick. The restaurant closed last December, though the couple still runs a little gift shop.
I'm at peace with her leaving now. But it hurt that she dropped the news in the weekend, the time that's supposed to be peace and quiet for a lot of people.
Who cares that it was on a weekend, what sucked was that is was the day after thanksgiving so it made a holiday weekend that was already awkward this year in America and made it worse. It’s all good though.

I know that feeling. There is this Chinese food place in Asia that I used to go buy food at for lunch every so often before I moved abroad. Well it's been like 20 years since I've been to that country and it closed down I think in 2015? Then again it's a franchise so there might be some restaurants out there in the wild, but I won't know if it's the same taste since sometimes franchises don't taste the same cause even if the ingredients and how it made is the same, people can fuck up the cooking process.

Be it a bakery dismantling their masonry oven, a clocksmith laying down their magnifying loupe, or an orchard leveling their crops. It's like witnessing a new page in history turned over. Especially when you get to visit the place both before and after. Fortunately, the fire of passion propagates through sparks of inspiration. As long as craftsmanship still exists, the cycle will not cease.
Luckily my comfort food spot will never close. For anyone wondering it is the Sam’s Club cafe, I buy a 16 inch pizza for myself and it only costs $10 and it’s heavy and delicious. Then if I want the deserts are under $2 and they provide free sauerkraut packets and chili flakes
